  1. We were in AQ 1132 on Millennium on the 11-23-14 sailing. Great room and location, would book it again in a heart beat!

We have family joining us on our next cruise, so we can't book AQ as we wouldn't eat in Blu very often.

  2. We did the Chefs Table on the Millie (11-23-14 sailing). It was $279 per couple, including wine and the cookbook souvenir. It really wasn't that special. The menu wasn't very impressive. You're much better off going to Murano, Olympic etc and having a nice dinner with the regular menu and splurge on a nice bottle of wine if you'd like.

We ran into the two other couples who joined us at the Chefs table and both couples agreed that it was not worthwhile.

  3. No , please don't bring them back. Need more vibrant entertainment onboard

  4. I think Celebrity is along the lines of a Hyatt or Intercontinental hotel. Similar decor (nothing tacky). Food and service are generally very good on Celebrity. No wet t-shirt, sexy leg competitions by the pool! I'd agree with the previous suggestion and get a family verandah room if there's more than 2 to the cabin.

  5. We always upgrade to the premium package. You have more choices which means less worrying about what's covered.

We hear people onboard frequently trying to negotiate with the bartenders to serve something in smaller portions or ring it up differently so that it's covered by the classic package.

I don't go on vacation to negotiate!

  6. We love cruising with Celebrity. We've only been on the M class ships (less bells and whistles). I found an itinerary that is very interesting to us (17 nt Rome to Dubai). I'm wondering if we will enjoy Azamara or will we be bored?

On Celebrity, we enjoy the restaurants and bars, go to the comedy show but typically skip most of the other entertainment, just not to our liking. We do like live music (rock, acoustic, no violins, no jazz). We love bingo, the casino, cooking classes, wine tasting and things like that. I'm worried that an Azamara cruise will be too quiet for us, especially given that this itinerary has 7 days at sea.

We are in our mid 30's if that's helpful. Any advice from cruisers with Celebrity and Azamara experience would be appreciated.

  7. We requested a table for 2 in the MDR. We will not know until we board the ship. If we don't like the sitting arrangement, can we change to Select Dining? Normally we are not allowed to wait at the select dining entrance. We must get approval first. Where and when can I find the Maitre'D

I've found that if you choose late dining (8:30pm), its easier to get a table for two if you can't get select. Most Celebrity cruises skew older, and many Celebrity customers don't prefer the late seating. Most of the time, early dining is the first to sell out.

I hope it works out for you. Enjoy your cruise.

  8. I've been to Alaska twice. I hate suits (I left the corp world a long time ago). I wear a sportcoat and slacks, no tie. It's perfectly fine for the MDR.

  10. I'm glad the brunch buffet is gone. Service was always poor, waited for ever to get a glass of wine. Food wasn't anything spectacular. I'd take a lunch in the MDR over that any day, or a late night chocolate buffet!

  11. Had concierge on the Century earlier this month. Perks aren't all that valuable, but the extra captains club points are. We waited until two weeks before departure to upgrade from a inside cat 7 to a C2 for $120pp. I thought that was worth the points alone.

  12. So if it was so loud you couldn't hear someone standing right next to you and yelling in your ear that would be OK? I have absolutely no hearing problems.

No, we sat at a table and had perfectly fine conversation. Some nights it was the two of us, some nights other couples joined us and we'd have anywhere from 4-10 people together. No one complained about the music level.

  13. Hi, yes it did exist on certain sailings. Maybe you were on those

cruises that had no issues. I also cruise with Celebrity 2 to 3 times

a year and my most recent sailing was back in February on CENTURY

and there were definitely issues. I love the Martini Bar but

when you have to yell at the person sitting across from you so

you could hear each other? To me, that is an issue. I stopped

going there since they refused to lower the volume (after asking

    politely).

When I sail Reflection in November hopefully it will be a non-issue.

But it definitely wasn't just in my head.

We were on the Century May 10 to 18, 2014 and went to the Martini bar every night for a martini before dinner (sometimes two martinis). We didn't have any issues with the music level. As one poster has said, the word "loud" is very subjective. Hope you enjoy your next cruise!

  14. I don't think the loud music issue ever existed, other than in some peoples head. We've done about two Celebrity cruises a year for the past few years with no noise issues. Take the complaints on here with a huge grain of salt!

  15. I hope you are having, or had a wonderful time on Century. I enjoyed a quick cruise on her in March, my partner didn't as much, but it was better than being at work :)

I just stumbled on your post and noticed we are on the Nov 23 cruise on Millie with you. Are you on the roll call? http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1880122

My wife and I have a friend we met on another sailing also coming, and she is bringing a guy friend who is family. We had fun touring around Europe last Nov / December.

    Happy sailing,

    Jenna

    Hi Jenna

Had a great time on Century, I love that ship even though it doesn't have all the bells and whistles! Yes, we are on the board for the Nov 23 sailing. I was just researching the Visa situation for Indonesia today. We are looking forward to this cruise. I've been to Singapore twice, sadly just for work, so it will be great to have time to explore on this trip. We arrive in Singapore on Nov 21, so we will have plenty of time to see it all. Have you thought about excursions yet?

    Take care

  16. Just got back from our 8 night pacific coastal cruise from LA to Vancouver. Overall, another great cruise on the Century. We were pleased to see the ship was in good condition, despite it's pending departure from Celebrity. There's a few couches in Rendezvous that need replacing, but that's about it.

Food wise, the MDR was great as usual. Disappointed that the pastry cigars weren't offered on this cruise, but no big deal. We thought the quality of the buffet was a bit lacking compared to other cruises, but it wasn't a total disaster as others may say. Breakfast on our concierge balcony was great, eggs arrived hot and cooked to order.

Service was great all around, from bars, restaurants and in our stateroom.

  17. So glad to hear the a Capella Groups and the Classical String Quartets/Trios are gone. Entertainment definitely needs a revamp on Celebrity. We're on the Century in two weeks, hope to see changes on our cruise.

  19. If you buy onboard they put a sticker on your sea pass which comes off when wet (pool, rain, at the bar etc). I prefer to buy ahead of time to avoid the hassle.

  20. My partner and I are in our 30's and we love Celebrity. Service is great, I like the decor of the ship (earth tones, nothing tacky), and we love the food! We are foodies and we know that this isn't a James Beard award winning restaurant. However, the food is well above Applebee's standards and we find it very enjoyable.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  21. I'm glad to hear there are changes in entertainment! It's been clear that entertainment wasn't the strong point for Celebrity. I'd like a better selection of free movies on sea days, more acoustic musicians (please no more acapella) and take the broadway type shows up a couple of notches! We are on the Century in a couple of weeks and wondering if the changes will be in place by then?

  22. I booked our May cruise with a travel agent (inside, resident rate). Called yesterday to upgrade to Oceanview and to get the beverage package as part of the promotion. We would be paying more money in this scenario. I was told that they will not add promotions to existing bookings after final payment.

I've booked directly with Celebrity before and haven't run into these issues. So my question is... Is Celebrity more flexible with direct bookings than TA bookings?
