What a great idea!  Hope to learn a lot.

    Thank you.

OK, PacnGoNow, you are all ready!  Just changing times.  I am hoping to learn from cruisers who cruise months at a time and they avoid all the sickness.  What are they doing.  We all need to know what that is.  More people are older, and I say older, I mean 50-75+ YOUNG and staying safe.  WHAT IS THE SECRET....WE ALL WANT TO KNOW!  PLEASE SHARE

    Knuckles work well.

A friend of ours who has been on board the Caribbean since August told us, "Just wear the mask, and you'll be fine." (She was specifically referring to KN95 masks or better. The ship will have some in your cabin when you first arrive.)

As for other steps to stay healthy, we bring wipes and wipe down  everything in the room.....handles, switches, remotes, etc.

Since Florida is a Covid hotspot, we lessened our exposure time there by flying in late the day of the cruise, and getting an early flight out at the end of the cruise.

We reached the cruise terminal around 2pm and we were the only passengers checking in.

    No lines, no crowds.

For disembarkation, we did the early walk-off and were on a half-empty plane two hours later.

OKAY!!!  YEAHHH.  I am not the only one that cleans the room and wipes everything down!  My nieces tell me I don't need to do that, but when we were 30 and THRIVING mind you, I did not do that; however, things change as you get older.  Noticed when I was doing the cleaning, my husband, who is 7 years older than me, did not get sick.  Sooooo...first day....I have my glam gloves on...you go girl!

OK, good to know.  DH can't breathe well with the KN95 because of neck cancer, but I guess he will have to do that enroute to the dining room.  We have all these years kept to ourself; however, we did walk through areas.  I told him he will have to suck it up buttercup from one spot to the next.  We totally enjoy fixed dining with the same staff and don't want to give that up.  Anyone else feel that way?  It is so nice that they know what you like and have it ready...especially with my high allergies to shellfish.

We just do the same things we always have to avoid Noro etc. Wash hands, avoid people when we can, dont touch stairwell railings, elevator buttons etc.  Add a mask in indoor areas or crowds and I am comfortable.

I do need a new method for the elevator though. I used to use the corner of my  cruise card.

I did see a thing at Walmart which you put around your finger and it touched the card.

FWIW - I have some friends that have done two Carnival b2b cruises in the last six weeks.  They were tested the night before the first leg ended.  Smart idea to have a "bug out bag" with meds, etc.  Not sure why Princess can't keep folks separated the morning of the turnaround.

Yes, hopefully Princess is reading this.  It would alleviate so much stress.  Think about packing your safe up and valuables as you don't want anyone to do that for you.

  6. I am starting this only because I trust all of you more than I do the advice we have been getting.

So, what are you doing and what works for you, especially those doing B2B2Bs, etc. etc.

I will start.  We have booked 40 days in 2023 Jan/Feb.  OK, I am going to bring a BUG OUT BAG.  Yep, you heard it right!  Who who have ever thought, me at 58 years old would need a bug out bag on a cruise ship?  Well it is for my husband and all his meds, etc.  So this is something we are going to do.  I will take that on turnaround days in case we are not allowed back on to pack.

We will be keeping to ourselves...think of it as a honeymoon...oh just us.

No we will not be dining or wanting to sit next to anyone or going to happy hour at the Concierge Lounge.

Yes, we will get a drink before we retire and sit on our balcony and watch the stars...by the way the best show EVER.  If you haven't done that before, I would say do it!

I could add a lot more, but I am interested in what all you cruisers, more seasoned than us are and will do.  We have to cruise again.  I am tired of being stuck and nothing to look forward to.  No making the bed, no doing the wash, no cooking or doing dishes...oh how lovely that sounds!

What about you?  What's your story?

I witnessed the answer to your question.

A couple was called out of the lounge while we were waiting to reboard the ship and told they were needed back on board

I just opened my door to step out of my cabin and saw the same couple being escorted by men in Hazmat suits spraying disinfectant behind them (think of the canisters you use to spray your garden)  They had another guy in a hazmat suit with a luggage cart.

A good reminder to keep space

So, they could at least pack up their stuff?  Thank you so much for posting, it means a lot to me and others I am sure.  We trust you, you are there.

Keeping space.  Seriously thinking of getting "BACK OFF" shirts to wear during embarkation and turnaround days (we would have 3).  I have witnessed someone during turnaround knocking an old man over to get ahead of him.  What, to be the first in line at the buffet?  That was precovid.

Personally, and this is just me, and common sense, speaking, Princess should test the day before disembarkation and have people scheduled to come places, but not in groups and be tested and let them know that way.  It would eliminate them all being crammed in one room breathing the same air and infecting others and also allow that person to pack and be quarantined in their room.  I know I would feel better about that myself.

All this testing and having to be quarantined and not being able to pack your stuff, really stresses me, as I have meds for my husband and a lot of things I have to bring for him for 40 days.  I guess I am going to have to bring a BUG OUT BAG to bring on turnaround days.  I am only 58 and never in all my life thought the world would come to this...EVER.

Please stay safe and any tips you have would be appreciated.

Masking isn't great, but we'll do what we need to do.

What I would like to see go away is the testing. It's such an inconvenience and I'm not convinced it 'proves' whether or not one is infectious when they get on a ship anyway since it occurs 2 days earlier......

Totally agree about getting back to normal and no more testing.  Just make everyone be vaccinated who is on the ship and that's it.  It is stressful to think about B2B2B2.... and having to possibly leave after looking forward to it all year, let alone to not being able to pack your stuff up if you do test positive.

Unsure, I’m changing cabins so I packed anyway. I also brought my own covid test so that I’m not surprised by the result.
I’ll ask more questions tmrw and see what protocol is.

Thanks.  We are looking to do 40 days next year, 4 B2Bs and it will be quite stressful to go through that multiple times.  Appreciate your help.  I will be curious how many have covid on the ship if  you can report.

  10. 14 hours ago, Steelers36 said:

Someone else reported this process on another ship Live From.  I believe the testing was done early (or maybe it was actually the day before arrival??).  Anyway, they did the rapid test and everyone who passed clean then went to the next meeting - the usual B2B meet-up where they march you off the ship into the terminal for CBP to do their thing and then back on the ship.

I would think once anyone has the green light on the test, you either disembark and come back later or through the loop with the others and CBP check as normal.

So, are they testing while still on the ship and then you can go to your room and pack if positive or are you escorted off.  I thought somewhere I asked and they said you were tested OFF the ship and not allowed back on to pack?  To me that is the most stressful.  Looking at B2B2B2B2B and how to stay safe without getting covid!

    Just a reminder: COVID

i realize it’s difficult to forget but it’s day 9 and my waiter for dinner is now quarantined.

I asked the assistant waiter directly and he confirmed it.

Tonight was formal night and the dining room was packed, all the staff were running and working twice as hard as usual.

We are on vacation and don’t care if things take a bit longer or dishes aren’t whisked away quickly.

I realize everyone has their own thoughts on COVID but just keep an open mind if you are sailing soon.

I didn't peak over.  But the balcony and room area nearly identical.  There is a wall on one side (verses a partition) because it's the end unit, but IMO that only gives you more privacy.

Great!  We weren't sure if because it was the end it was smaller or LARGER!  Appreciate you taking the time to help me.

What balcony room number is this?  Thanks.  Trying to find S110 pictures of balcony.  Thanks.

Here is a picture taken of that area of the Sky Princess. The cabins in question are within the circled area one deck above the bridge. Maybe you can figure out the obstruction from this.

Your picture is great.  I was wondering if you had anything closer and straight on for S110, which is right under the Sanctuary, as that has some white metal there and we booked the room for 40 days, so I am wanting to make sure it is not a big obstruction.  I cannot find any good photos of sky which shows the balcony for S110.  It sure would be helpful.  Someone posted S111, but that room was not available for all 40 days and it is not obstructed.  Thanks.  Mar

Yes still a shower curtain but it didnt feel as cramped. We did not have any problem with wind on our balcony. A few times we noticed a bit of wind around the pool area. Here are some pictures, sorry if the post upside down, havent figured out how to fix that.

Thanks.  We ended up booking S110.  It was available for 40 days in the same room so I put a deposit on it.  We talked and it will be two years since we have cruised.  My husband said divide by 3 and it didn't seem as bad.  Still hoping there will be price reductions though!

Appreciate being able to see from the glass in.  I think our room is in a separate hallway, close to the Sanctuary and the bar!  Getting excited and hoping covid testing, etc. is all gone by then.

No worries.  The cabin is nearly all the way forward, but it's still on the Port side of the ship so not directly facing forward.   I was surprised how little wind there was.  In fact, at night, we kept the door open and I would have liked a stronger breeze for sleeping.  A guess at the size is 5x12.

Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos of the interior. (I'll ask DH)  But no, there wasn't a separate room.....just a square-sized room for the couch, coffee table, bed and desk.  Tons of closet space.  If I could afford the regular price, I would get this room again in a heartbeat.  Location was perfect.

Here are a couple more photos from the balcony....

Hi again!  Just wondering from your photo taking the picture of the rainbow to your right, that is s110, did you ever happen to peek over there or talk with your neighbors to see what the balcony was like?  I didn't know if the white metal was obstructing AND if the balcony was the same size as yours.  Thanks.  I have a hold on that room for 40 days in 2023, so I just want to make sure all will be good.  Thanks for your picture of the balcony...it helped my husband feel the balcony would be good.  Just worried now that we will have a white wall on a portion of our balcony .  Thanks again so much.  Mary

There are no mini-suites on the Sun Deck. Just the 6 Vista Suites, 2 Window Suites, and an assortment of regular balcony cabins. There are also the forward facing deluxe ocean views with the floor-to-ceiling windows. I did tour the suites on a sea day and did not find the port or starboard balconies too windy. The Sky Suites were another story. The access to the Vista Suites goes from the upper main pool deck through an enclosed hallway next to the Retreat Pool. You cannot hear anything from that pool area. There is also a set of stairs and elevators that serve the Sun Deck rooms.I did not tour any mini-suites on the ship, which are not part of the Suite Manager's oversight.

@Upper BobDid you by chance get a tour of Vista Suite S110 or S109?  Wondering if that balcony is larger than the other Vista Suites next to it because it is the first one after the totally forward one.  Thanks.

The Princess green-coaters are amazing, able to manage dining room flow and assign tables using their minds, not a computer. They definitely keep the servers in line too, and I'd be afraid of them too, since they  often are big, burly Serbians. The online survey is the best way to get them recognition, since it goes higher than just a ship comment card and it's easier to compile feedback for crew and facilities, and for corporate to resolve issues and give rewards. I also make a point of learning language basics for Serbian if I get a Serbian green-coater helping me get a distanced table or some other excellent service. I saw a few Latino and Caribbean greencoats on Majestic, and I really appreciate the diversity of a Princess dining room, by nationality and gender, instead of the uniformity of male Indonesians on HAL.

I've done a couple of Royal cruises since coming back, and I really hate the servers begging openly for a 10-rating on surveys, and the maitre'd getting in my face at every meal, also begging for a 10 rating, and subtly begging for an extra tip, which makes me even more uncomfortable with omicron since the Royal dining room staff wear cloth masks, not KN95.

Good to read your post and see that the head waiters are not relying on the computer for seating arrangements.  One of our issues with cruising, as my husband had head/neck cancer and much damage done to throat and we ask for a table in the corner away from everyone so he doesn't get sick at dinner, usually did traditional, late, which we prefer.  Have no idea how things will work.  After 30+ years of traveling and knowing what to expect, we now are not knowing.  He usually stays out of the population we call it and is on the balcony in the shade reading his book and watching the ocean listening the the waves.  We also cruised RCCL for years, it was our first cruise.  I know what you mean about the 10 rating.  They were excellent though.  Some of those burly Romanians are just teddy bears, FYI!  LOL
