  1. On the back of this anyone done their own tours in:

    Antigua?

    Barbados?

    Tobago?

    Thanks all

7 week and counting now !!

In Antigua DH used Caribbean Helicopters to do a flight over Monserrat, then we walked to St James Beach, about 10 mins which was deserted but had a bar at the end with free sun loungers etc.

In Barbados we used Island Marketing for a catamaran trip, very good.

Tobago we just took a taxi to the beach.

  2. I was discussing with DH last night about where to go for 50th birthday (a few years off yet) and I decided I wanted to cross the international dateline! I somehow don't think Thomson's will do the South Pacific, so I will have to jump ship to another cruise line:eek:

Has anyone done a south pacific cruise?

    Whats on other's bucket lists?:D:D

  3. Lucky you. We live nearly 90 miles from Gatwick Can't imagine what a taxi would cost I like a midday flight, but don't often get one as early flights involve getting up in the middle of the night, or not even going to bed, then 2 hour coach trip to Gatwick

We live about 30 miles from Manchester and taxi is £90 return, we use a taxi so we can drink on the flight home!!!:D:D I like the early flight so reach the ship faster!! also like an eary flight home, have breakfast and go to airport, we are not fans of hanging around the hip on the last day.

On the last day of carribean cruise we did an excusion around Barbados then went to excutive lounge at the airport:)

  4. We have never flown on Thomson for a long haul flight to the Caribbean. Leaving the UK at say 09:30 & returning from Barbados at say 14:00 what do you get as being included in the in flight meals? Is it one meal & a snack?

    Hope you can help.

    Len

Yes Len, it's one meal and a snack, probably lunch. As it's a long flight they don't serve a meal for at least a couple of hours. They serve drinks first.:D

  5. We arrived at Gatwick once - my son's hand luggage was 3kg (he was only 6 at the time) ; mine weighed 7kg (this was when we had 5kg each) Mrs Jobsworth at check-in made me unpack 2kg of my luggage & put it into my son's!

On our flight in December from Manchester to Barbados, we had a cabin size suitcase and a small backpack as handluggage. The check in lady weighed the small suit case 11kg!! but not the backpack. We had to take stuff out of the suitcase, Books, packs of mints etc Then I just carried them loose round the corner and put them back in!!!

  6. Why not just use Travel Agent in the first place - so much easier and they do everything for you, plus if any problems it's their fault not yours.

There are several reasons why I book online, the first one is time. I work ina town centre and have too walk past 4 travel agents on my walk from the car park to the office. Whenever I have tried using TA they take that long my lunch time is over before I booked it!! I don't want to drive to town on my day off it's a 30 mile round trip. I can book from the comfort of my armchair at any time of evening I wish.

My next reason is knowledge, after being on 12 thomson cruises my knowledge is far greater than theirs and if I don't know something I come on here for the answers. I have asked at TA's in the past and the answers I receive are not necessary correct. I think this is due to lack of training.

I spend all day at work with forms etc so I am quite confident of filling them in correctly.

Another reason is cost, I have asked the local TA to match the online price, I keep track of the price of cruises and last time I asked the response was "we can't get anywhere near that price, we would be losing money"

I can see that going to TA's works for some but not everyone.
