  1. Hi all,

We are on the dream this weekend for 2 weeks.

Just wondered if you have the same place and table each day or just grab a table when you go in.

Which is the best restaurant to eat in

Also someone mentioned the al"cart is very good, has anybody eaten there.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Its anytime dining on the dream, apart from formal nights when they have 2 sittings. If you want the same table and waiters in the MDR let them know on the first night and the waiter will save a table for you.

There are 3 restaurants, 1 waiter served, The Orion (MDR), and 2 self service the Lido (deck 9 aft) and Sirens (Deck 11 Mid). The Sirens is only open till after afternoon tea.

The al a carte The Grill is just off the Sirens and is only open at night. They have 2 menu which they alternate, French and Asian Fusion.

I have not tried the Asian but the French was excellent. It's 19.95 a head money well spent in my opinion.

It is also possible to do "Steak under the Stars" which is on Sirens Deck at night also to pay for. I haven't done that but I know there is a cost

  2. If you haven't booked the Drinks Package before you go you can buy it on board for about £20 more.

If you are doing a 2 weeks cruise and you buy the DP when you book I believe you have to pay for 2 weeks. But if you decide to buy on board.....can you buy a 1 week DP on a 2 week cruise. For example, after one week you may decide that you wished you had the DP, so when they are selling it to the new arrivals, can you buy a one week package? Mmmmm? They were very keen to sell the wine packages on Majesty.

That's a good question and the answer is I don't know!!!! As me and hubby are big drinkers, we always have the package!!!

  3. I only just got the trolley case because 7kg is too much to carry and if I am allowed 7kg I am going to take it! Lol. It is a nuisance because I have to sort out the things I need on the plane and put them in a separate bag which I take out when I get on the plane.

I always decant shampoo, etc into small travel bottles, but usually leave them behind so no problem there. I have a zip plastic bag for liquids which I have used loads of times. (M&S). Just bought $50 in $1 notes this morning for tips and shopping on the islands. Was lucky as TA said they don't get sent $1 notes anymore and that these were ones people had returned for £s. Getting lots of tips on here, thank you.

Never really had any rude behaviour at airports that I can remember. The staff at Newcastle always seem to be cheerful or at least try to be.

I got my dollars from tesco , could get any demoniation, I got 100 dollars in 1's no problem

  4. I do take a IT trolley case as hand luggage already, but find it hard to travel light! Note to me....I must try harder and try to take less. Oh, and try not to buy too much on the islands.

I usually only have handbag as hand luggage and DH just has small bag for iPad etc. suitcases are usually only about 17kg. We only buy fridge magnets on hols so weight is never an issue. It includes DJ for hubby and his shiny shoes!!!!

  5. I've just realised the downside of your luggage being "bonded". It means that if you have a late flight from Barbados, everything you need that last day, plus your warm clothes for travelling, need to fit in your hand luggage. In the past I have opened my case on the quay side before putting it on the coach and put swim wear, flip flops, straighteners, makeup, brushes, beach bag, etc in case and taken cardigan, coat, etc out to carry on plane. Won't be able to do that from Barbados. :(

I was planning on taking a small case as hand luggage so I can change on the plane on the way out and can get rid of swimwear etc and change into woollies for on the way back, we have 7kg each so plenty of weight. Usually I travel light but don't want come home in summer clothes!!!

  6. Hi all,

I booked a 2 week cruise (on 27th Dec 2012) on the dream sailing 31-03-13.

I checked the online price and then phoned thomson and got a sightly better deal (-£10 pp).

I'm a bit disappointed that the online price has now dropped by circa £200 pp. they must be struggling to sell this cruise.

Its a gamble knowing the best time to book, its pot luck !!!! The £200pp would have paid for a few excursions.( never mind I might be lucky and get a cabin upgrade!!!!!)

Still looking forward to the cruise , i'm sure we will have a great time on the dream again.

I booked a b2b for the 22/12/13 on the dream, I booked it the day it came availible, if I booked today it would be £750 each more! I think it just comes down to luck and where you want to fly from. I'm flying from Manchester but if I flew from gatwick and I booked today it is the same price as I have booked at! There does not seam any rhyme or reason with Thomsons pricing system, you need to book at a price you can live with an accept that you may gain or loose
