  1. Scan your passport page reduced to a credit card size. Then you laminate it. Leave your original in your safe. This has worked for me in all cruises especially when on a ship that took my passport for an entire 30 day cruise. It's all you need to get another quickly if you miss the ship.

This works well in airports also.

Also it pays to scan your passport into your computer at home. You can access it if needed.

  2. I have a question as I haven't cruised in a long time. What does everyone do with their passport while they are swimming at a beach?

We are doing beach days at Princess Cay and we are going to Honeymoon beach in St Thomas. We will probably want to do some swimming and maybe snorkeling.

We always bring a beach bag with us with towels sunscreen sunglasses etc. I am nervous about leaving it.

I thought I read Princess Cay has lockers, but I'm sure not in St Thomas.

There are a few things you can do.

Copy your passport info page into your home computer, where it will be if you ever lost it anywhere in the world you can access it through your email.

Your husband needs to get a photo ID made anywhere as long as it has some info such as his name.....The ship just wants to match the picture with the person.

Another thing you can do is to scan your passport info page and reduce/resize it to Credit Card size then laminate it......You can then leave your drivers license on board also....Reducing the cards you carry.

Purchase a bathing suit for your husband that has a pocket and Velcro it.

Whatever you do.....LEAVE your Passport.... ON the SHIP.

    Enjoy yourself most of all.

  3. My husband and I are taking a free cruise on the Allure of the Seas March 29, 2015 via the casino Royale promotion. We were wondering if anyone else was taking advantage of this promotion and if we would still receive free drinks in the casino like before? We did have to pay tax/port fee & gratuity. I hear the ️Casino was changing its rules mid March and may be adding a VIP club.?. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Not going on this one, AND RCCL including Club Royal, is not changing rules this month.

HQs has decided to push it off for a year so we have until next March....2016.

There is a shake-up in HQs going on, and roll outs of different programs will be tested. It's best to speak up with an email if you find something they change that you don't like.

The person that 'was' in charge of reforming Casino Royal and land casinos left RCCL, so they are pushing the timing of 'changes' off.

NCCL has a better casino program and are syphoning off RCCL casino players which is the reason for the changes.

  4. I am several times a shellback, horned shellback, mossback, golden-dragon, order of the rock, cruising over the years, so I 'think' I know a bit about nautical miles, but it's neither here nor there.

I have been lookout for human trafficking, huge turtles, floating logs and debris floating in the Atlantic from our travels between the Bahamas' and Florida to keep ourselves from becoming fish food.

I will defer to knowledge of what happened off the coast of Cocoa Beach, Florida while posters are sitting elsewhere.

Other than what I and stevenr597 observed last Saturday, and it was that Disney was too close to our shoreline and still in the water for about 2 hours, then circled several times before taking off, the only other thing I do know about in this thread,

Is something UNUSUAL happened for several hours last Saturday night VERY close to shore with another ship (Carnival) in standby position.

  5. As stevenr597 said

It was unusual. There were 3 ships in port last Saturday.

2 Carnival and Disney. I was at Atlantic seafood as Disney passed through the canal and saw a Carnival ship still in port.

Disney usually leaves last, unless there is a ship in, for a port day but the itineraries may be askew because of Christmas and New Year.

We arrived home, put things away, then noticed ships lights very close to the beach which never happens.

Disney was dead in the water, too close to shore.

The 2nd Carnival ship left port and passed Disney, Carnival stopped and stayed about 3 miles south of her but much further out.

Where she was supposed to be!

The Carnival ship made circles until Disney edged herself further out from the shore, then Carnival left as Disney turned her bow as though she was going to return to port, but did a few circles herself and steamed away.

The fact that Carnival stayed (near Disney) for over an hour, made me think more was going on, which is why we watched her and Carnival.

I don't know what happened to Disney, but if it was medical, Carnival would not have stayed near Disney as she (Disney) was about 2 miles south of the port and could have had a helicopter pick up the patient or returned to port.

All we did was report what we saw.

  6. She was floating towards shore, as I saw her also.

The Carnival ship left port after Disney, passed her, and then stayed nearby for about an hour.

Disney didn't turn for over an hour.

She stayed still for a long time, as it looked like she had drifted onto a sandbar, she was so close to the beach.

Then slowly she edged her way sideways and turned with her bow as though she was headed back to the port.

After about an hour and a half the Carnival ship went on her way and Disney made several circles then headed on her way about 15 minutes later.

  7. The problem is with RENTAL Cars.

Until and Unless people write to the State of Florida Attorney General it will continue.

    http://myfloridalegal.com/

IF enough people complain she is very good about investigating it as a scam of auto rental companies.

Let her know of any infraction so it may be investigated OR it will continue.

This comes up all the time ON Cruise Boards but nobody does anything and the rental companies are raking in the dough.

  8. I'm sorry, but they don't care..they might send you a nice letter of acknowledgement but they do expect..yes, even the tourist..to know what they are renting and why, etc.

    https://www.sunpass.com/rentalcar

    That's the Sun Pass.

They don't care ....BUT....If you paid the rental car for a sun pass and they then send you a bill for more.............. that should be sent to the Florida Attorney General Pam Bundi.

    http://myfloridalegal.com/Contact.nsf/Contact

Everyone has to decide IF they are being taken by the rental car agency to garner more income.

That's why it's important that the renter take down the plate number, have a letter ready for the rental agency that states you PAID for a sun pass and the car plate is registered with sun pass.

  9. Here is a site of the sun pass and rental cars.

However!........I suggest before leaving your home that you prepare a letter that the rental company signs that you have PAID for the transponder and that the rental company has REGISTERED the plate number with Sun pass.

    http://floridasturnpike.com/all-electronictolling/ESP/PayingAToll.cfm?RentalCar

I understand that some cars may not be registered because of red tape and employees may have skiped them.

Protect yourself IF you are going on CASHLESS toll roads.

If you are going on the CASH roads you can take quarters with you and use the exact change lanes.

  10. We were scheduled for a trans-atlantic on September 21st.

Almost didn't make it due to planes grounded.

We were the very first overseas plane to Amsterdam and then Barcelona on the 17th from our city.

Once in Spain we were constantly questioned by concerned people everywhere we went to dine and if they heard our American accents.

The news was everywhere in Spain and once on board Celebrity we found the ship only 1/2 full.

The stunning thing that happened on the cruise was the musicians played "God Bless America" in the dining room and every single person stood up and sang once they heard a few bars and then applauded.

Celebrity kept the guests on board informed by printing a newspaper every day and trying to keep CNN World in position most of the time.

    It was a quiet cruise.

  11. Don't think the regular bus (trolley) makes a stop at the pier so you would have to take a cab.

You could take a cab to the Radisson and then take the trolley to Ron Jons but it won't save money because you would have to pay for all of your party on the trolley and it's only about another 3 or 4 miles to Ron Jons then head to the beach another block east.

The nearest beach with facility's is probably near Ron Jons at A-1-A and Route 520 about 8 miles from the port.

    No pool.

Plenty of places to eat and shop at 520 and A-1-A.

  12. You can hop on the local bus for about $1.00 each and take it into the next town then go into the bus station and buy a ticket to Coyhaique about $5.00. The bus takes you on the same road as the ship tour and it's fun to be with the locals. When you arrive in Coyhaique make sure you buy your return ticket to ensure a seat on the bus and get back in time. You may be able to buy a round trip ticket but we didn't know about it until someone on the bus informed us that we had to make a reservation for our return. This is sort of their Greyhound bus service.

We enjoyed doing this on our own and the drive going through the Andes was beautiful.
