  1. My feet/ankles swell sometimes on a cruise but luckily has not turned into a rash. I heard that could be painful. :( I did the dry brushing with Elemis Cellutox Active Body Oil my last cruise and the swelling wasn't as bad. (Bought both on eBay.) Don't know if I just didn't swell that much that cruise or the dry brushing worked.

I found out about it on this thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1637335

I have done that in the past, as well. My DH & I have that problem and we also put the life preservers under the foot of the bed to raise it slightly and it worked wonders. Try it! It really works!

  2. May I ask why you changed - did someone confirm to you it was not a 2/2 or you did it out of concern? If we have to make other arrangements I'd rather do it now and not onboard a sold out cruise. But I would hope they'd honor the booked price for any changes that have to be made...

I had been reading reading some conflicting information on CC. I called MSC directly and explained my concerns with the 1 & 2 bedroom Suiteson the US & UK sites. The Rep was able to access the UK site and found that they were indeed different. I was able to find 2 Aurea Balconies together but we had to take a hit on our wallets. My TA transferred all the same amenities to the new cabins. My new confirmation now shows an additional $100 OBC and another line which reads VIP. I called MSC again (TA was away) and they said the code meant Sparkling Wine. I haven't received a confirmation as to whether my TA or MSC added this but if that is my confirmation, it is not acceptable.

  3. Hi,

Hubby and I are going on our 1st NCL cruise on Escape Nov 25. I can't wait.

Then we have a family cruise planned on Freedom 8 night on Jan 6. It will be hubby and me, and then my 3 adult kids and their spouses or friend. The kids are letting me do all the planning. I keep wondering if we would get better value for our money with NCL since you can add the beverage package whereas it's expensive on RCCL.

We have cruised 3 times before this on Allure, Oasis and Eclipse. So we have no experience with NCL.

For the young adults would you choose NCL Escape or RCCL Freedom and why?

    Appreciate your feedback.

I suggest Escape, hands-down. There is so much to do on board we are going a 2nd time to see what we missed.

  4. Hi,

I returned last Tuesday from the Getaway Baltics Cruise and due to falling ill and having to cancel a couple of excursions plus compensation from an item broken by the cabin steward my final bill was $225 in credit.

Has anyone else had experience with being in credit at the end of a cruise and how long on average have you had to wait for the money to be refunded back to your card....

    TIA, Meg:cool:

I had a credit balance last December and it took about 3 weeks for a check. I thought that was reasonable.

  5. Well, i think that a fair compensation would be;

    1) For booked guests who are taveling in 4 adults = one extra balcony cabin in any category, but with Aurea Experience perks. With that, you give what you promised, 2 rooms, 2 baths and Aurea Perks for all 4.

    2) For booked guests who are traveling in couple = onboard credit in the proportion of the cruise days. For a couple the lack of second room and a bath would not cause such a discomfort, but they should be compensated anyway.

I hope dmccadden can get an answer for this.

We originally booked 11003 for 2 couples because of the 2-bed/2-bath & the overall price for 4 people. When I finally had confirmation that it was indeed only 1-bed/1-bath w/pull-out couch we made the decision to cancel that room and booked 2 aurea balconies side-by-side which cost us more $$. I just noticed on my recent confirmation that there is an additional $50pp OBC listed and another VIP amenity. When I called MSC to question what the VIP was for the girl told me is was Sparkling Wine.

I don't know if these add-on's came from my TA or from MSC.

It better not be our compensation for altering our plans for their misleading information. We will just wait and see. Hopefully they will make things right for those of us that booked those rooms.

  6. Just wondering if people have had good success with using this to stay in touch with family members on the ship? Considering purchasing for our family of 4. We are sailing mid August, and wanted to know if we can download this a few days before our sailing or is only good for a certain amount of days?

It works great. Make sure everyone downloads the App before you leave home. Once on the ship, you just need to activate it. I've had mine on my phone for over a year now. It still tries to open up. We'll use it again this October.

  7. Ouch! My DH feels your pain. He just went through the same procedure, last month but that was on land. Thank goodness we had already reached our high deductible. We have always purchased travel insurance through the cruiseline but recently have been considering through the online broker. Best of luck with your toe. Don't forget to soak in Epson Salts!!! Oh, by the way, CVS has Toe Sleeves that you can buy. When my DH was ready to where his work boots, the sleeve gave him an added cushion for his toe.

  8. I have a question! My DH & I will be on the Dawn this October with my Sister & BIL. Each couple has SDP. On our cruise last year, my DH & I had reached Platinum so we used both certificates to go to Le Bistro with the other couple with us that were not Platinum. How should we do it this year with my Sister & BIL who are not Platinum yet since they have changed how you can use the certificates.

  9. The trip involves a catamaran that has a set of steps off the front of the boat. There is no dock they pull in to shore, and drop you off in about a foot of water. As far as Handicap accessible, if a persons uses a scooter or wheelchair this would not be the trip for you. But able to climb a few stairs, and able to walk up the beach, it would be doable in my opinion.

The Description says guest must be able to swim if there are rough seas. My mother in law (in her mid-60s) does not swim and we nearly did not do this trip due to the description. After reading reviews here and on another Trip forum, i talked her in to it. It is now her (and my) favorite beach.

I also don't swim, but JVD is one of my favorite places and would love to do this. What are the odds in November that the water would be rough enough that they wouldn't pull up to the beach? I'm going solo, and this would be on my birthday so the thought of being left on the catermaran would be horrible. I read that workers on the rebel yell will assist those who need it....should I worry?

We went beginning of December last year & the water was not rough at the beach at all. The crew was awesome. Very helpful. Go for it & have a great time.

  10. Might be going cruising with my father who is a smoker. Where can he smoke on the boat? Can you smoke on the balconies?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

There are designated areas for smoking. Absolutely no smoking on balconies. Smoking in some area's of casino. Some ships have a cigar bar.
