  1. I book with the big box warehouse club whose name starts with a “c”. We get back in the form of a gift card usable at their stores an amount equal to almost 10% of the cruise cost. A great deal if you regularly shop with them. They don’t pass on upsell opportunities with any regularity however if that’s important to you. I was able to book Club Orange and stateroom upgrade directly with Hal and also book air through flight ease directly.

  2. Peggy and I are packing and getting excited to join you all a week from today for the 21 day version. We’re riding the red bus down from Tallahasse to Ft Lauderdale and overnighting at the Hampton Inn Suites. With this cruise we will have been on all three pinnacle class ships. For the first time we booked Club Orange so are looking forward to this new experience.

  3. I attended a weekend series of FSU baseball this past weekend and  thought of the many Canadian friends who post on the daily. There are a special group of fans loosely organized and known as The Animals of Section B who attend every FSU baseball game. Amongst their numerous traditions, they display the Canadian flag and lead the stadium in a rendition of “Oh Canada” in the bottom half of the fifth inning. Here is a link to an article with more information about the animals: https://www.nolefan.org/garnet/seminole56.html

Thank you Sandi (and Rich).  Sandi, don’t worry too much about getting up early; I always did the lists well after the Daily came out.

Not a good night; I asked my night Nurse about how my release would be timed; when the antibiotics were finished.  He said in could be months if ever.  There could be permanent scarring which would leave me pretty much unable to live on my own..

I have continuing low grade pain and hardly slept at all.  My body is at glacial speed but brain is racing.

One good thing is I coughed up a healthy bit of glop this morning.

     Roy

Good grief Roy. I hope the next nurse you have is way more optimistic. This one needs to be retrained on bedside manners and the power of positive thinking!

Thanks - no playing for Jacqui.

sadly this live thread is now dead.  I was medically disembarked In Puerto Vallarta because of the concern of 2 days at sea and sepsis.  I may have a story to tell down the road on medical disembarkations when it is not so difficult to type.

It’s especially hard pain wise and immobile arm wise with the angle in the hospital bed.  Not sure I will ever travel solo again

I am so sorry! Prayers for a speedy recovery and safe trip home!🙏🏻🙏🏻

  6. I’m so sorry to read that you had to cancel the WC and are in the hospital! I followed along on your previous cruise and knew you were having some health issues. Prayers for your doctors as they diagnose and treat you, and for your comfort and recovery. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Have now returned home after a rather grueling travel time of over 24 hours.

We are presently experiencing some of the weather conditions other people throughout the lower parts of Canada and northern parts of US are enjoying. At least we are not getting bad blizzard conditions, just record lows for this time oy year.

A quick snap of our thermometer which I just took. We are expected to remain cold today, but start warming up to seasonal temperatures over the next few days.

For people who may not know it, -40 is the crossover point of where Centigrade and Fahrenheit are the same.

Glad you’re home safely, although 24 hrs. is grueling! I can’t imagine -40 C/f! No thank you!

Eggs Benedict in classic English Breakfast on a sea day. We really are headed north as promised. Shore excursions for tomorrow in Eden appeared in the Navigator app as promised this morning, so those who want to can book. I’m glad to see the option, though I would rather have seen Hobart!

That breakfast looks delicious! What map app is that a screenshot of? I’m intrigued with the speed and direction included. Thanks.

I think that yesterday I mention how our aircon had stopped working.

Well during dinner last night maintenance looked at it and when we returned to our room after dinner it was working perfectly.  Actually it was working too perfectly!  One of the units is positioned over the bed and this causes a cold air blast over the head of the person on that side of the bed.  So, the duct tape that I bring with us came in handy to block the cold air.

We bring a kitchen towel and magnets and cover the vents with the towel to prevent that cold blast in the face.

  10. Good afternoon from Cadiz and the Nieuw Statendam. We have enjoyed a glorious cruise to date but it seems that Covid has reared its ugly head! Captain O’Driscoll sent a letter to guests this afternoon announcing that some crew and passengers had tested positive and were in isolation. Masks recommended are now masks required. Everyone aboard fully vaccinated and all passengers tested before arrival at FLL and all were tested again at FLL before being allowed to board. Amazing that we have illness anyway. It for sure seems we will live with Covid for ever!
