  1. I book with the big box warehouse club whose name starts with a “c”. We get back in the form of a gift card usable at their stores an amount equal to almost 10% of the cruise cost. A great deal if you regularly shop with them. They don’t pass on upsell opportunities with any regularity however if that’s important to you. I was able to book Club Orange and stateroom upgrade directly with Hal and also book air through flight ease directly.
  2. Peggy and I are packing and getting excited to join you all a week from today for the 21 day version. We’re riding the red bus down from Tallahasse to Ft Lauderdale and overnighting at the Hampton Inn Suites. With this cruise we will have been on all three pinnacle class ships. For the first time we booked Club Orange so are looking forward to this new experience.
  3. Speaking as a daily lurker but seldom poster I want to add my thanks to Rich for starting the daily and fleet report and those who have added the care and celebration list and the recipes and wine review. Thanks also to all of you who post every day!
  4. Rich, I am really enjoying your posts as you take us along on your journey. I particularly like to see your daily screenshots of your location on Google maps. Is there any particular setting required to get the large area geographic view? I’d like to do the same on our upcoming transatlantic cruise.
  5. I attended a weekend series of FSU baseball this past weekend and thought of the many Canadian friends who post on the daily. There are a special group of fans loosely organized and known as The Animals of Section B who attend every FSU baseball game. Amongst their numerous traditions, they display the Canadian flag and lead the stadium in a rendition of “Oh Canada” in the bottom half of the fifth inning. Here is a link to an article with more information about the animals: https://www.nolefan.org/garnet/seminole56.html
  6. Good grief Roy. I hope the next nurse you have is way more optimistic. This one needs to be retrained on bedside manners and the power of positive thinking!
  7. Thank you @StLouisCruisers for posting the daily. I am so sorry to hear of Roy’s fall. Prayers up for his recovery.
  8. Good morning from a cold but sunny North Florida. Thank you Roy for posting the daily, and all who contribute. We’re putting the house back in order after two weeks of painters inside. The daily has helped me keep some sanity during the process!
  9. Hi Kazu. I hope your pain is subsiding from your recent second elbow surgery! We are booked on the 21 day 150th anniversary cruise on the Rotterdam from April 3 to April 24. Thanks for adding us!
  10. I’m so sorry to read that you had to cancel the WC and are in the hospital! I followed along on your previous cruise and knew you were having some health issues. Prayers for your doctors as they diagnose and treat you, and for your comfort and recovery. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
  11. Did you price the air through flight ease? You ma find much more affordable fares.
  12. Thank you Rich for taking us along with you! I’m a daily reader and guess mostly a “ lurker” as I seldom post. I’ve appreciated all you’ve done with the daily and look forward to following your posts from now through the finish of the world cruise!
  13. Glad you’re home safely, although 24 hrs. is grueling! I can’t imagine -40 C/f! No thank you!
  14. That breakfast looks delicious! What map app is that a screenshot of? I’m intrigued with the speed and direction included. Thanks.
  15. I just checked on Port Everglades status and it is is closed through 11/10 due to the incoming tropical storm. Sadly this affects both the Eurodam and Rotterdam due in port 11/9. Below is link to relevant report: https://assets.simpleviewinc.com/simpleview/image/upload/v1/clients/porteverglades/MSIB_22_024_Port_Condition_Yankee_NICOLE_signed_fe393129-5d54-466c-9e36-baa85b6b7194.pdf
  16. Thanks for the daily and fleet report. We’re in our condo near Boone, NC and it’s a cool wet day here. I’m looking forward to spending the day watching college football games. There are a lot of important matches today, some with national championship implications.
  17. Bon Voyage Roy. I’m looking forward to reading your travel posts!
  18. On a recent cruise on Nieuw Statendam, we were able to reserve a specific table for 2 at a specific time although we had anytime dining. Initially we didn’t know it could be done but noticed the same group of people every night at the same table.
  19. Good morning dailyites or fleet reporters.😀 Yesterday the temperature finally dropped to more normal here in the NC mountains. High was 74 and low 53 overnight. Will enjoy for a couple more days then back to the mid 80’s. Today is special for this dad as our blended family includes 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren!
  20. Thanks for the daily! We arrived safely in NC, but apparently brought the heat with us from Florida. Forecast indicates a couple more days and we should have normal temperatures in the low 70’s.🤞
  21. We bring a kitchen towel and magnets and cover the vents with the towel to prevent that cold blast in the face.
  22. Thanks for the daily! Another hot and humid day in Florida! Headed for the NC mountains and cooler temps tomorrow!
  23. You might want to consider the possibility that the port stop in Kona could be missed due to weather issues. Laundry isn’t that expensive. Unlimited laundry is available for $7/day per cabin, or $30 for a stuffed laundry bag which holds a lot of clothes.
  24. Good afternoon from Cadiz and the Nieuw Statendam. We have enjoyed a glorious cruise to date but it seems that Covid has reared its ugly head! Captain O’Driscoll sent a letter to guests this afternoon announcing that some crew and passengers had tested positive and were in isolation. Masks recommended are now masks required. Everyone aboard fully vaccinated and all passengers tested before arrival at FLL and all were tested again at FLL before being allowed to board. Amazing that we have illness anyway. It for sure seems we will live with Covid for ever!
