Thank for the Thursday Daily, Rich.
I appreciate National Geographic but don’t need to punch the clock nor chocolate cake. Good quote by Gide. 👍
Sorry I haven’t been posting. I’ve been in a bit of a funk between seeing my lawyer and Financial Planner and paperwork for things I never thought I would have to plan for 😔 I do appreciate all of you caring very much ♥️ And sorry I haven’t been on to commiserate with all of you who need support and join in the celebrations of those with joyous news. 😣
Marley’s blood profile is worse than when he was sick and he’s going on a special prescription that hopefully will help 🤞 Why should I have expected good news?
Our “light” snow turned into a mess on Tuesday and the temps are brutal here - -31 with a “feels like” -41 C. Now an uncalled for clipper is moving in tonight to dump more snow and after that the ‘Nor Easter, predicted to be a weather bomb arrives on the weekend.Final testing for Jose’s unit is supposed to be today. If everyone is negative they will announce when I am permitted to go in. If it’s this weekend, I’ll never be able to get there if what they are predicting for the Bay of Fundy holds true 😔
See? I’m no fun at all this week. All I do is complain about the weather and my plight. A real Debbie Downer. Why I haven’t posted. My house is a disaster. Once I get Marley’s prescription and a couple of things in advance of 3 days of snow I may try to clean the house. I did say MAY 😉
Prayers for everyone on Roy’s Care list & for those that need them and 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.
Have a good Thursday everyone !!!
Stay safe and especially if you are in the path of the storm and please don’t forget your 😷
You are an amazing strong woman well demonstrated by the way you are navigating through so many challenges every day. Like all of your other friends and fans on the daily you are in my thoughts and prayers constantly. I pray that God continue to give you the strength to face each day, that he provides healing for Jose and Marley, and that you experience the peace that only He can provide.

Thank you. If I download the app now will I be able to see menus or must you be on the ship?
Yes. Once you sign in, you will find a lot of information about your upcoming cruise, including itinerary, deck plan, restaurants, etc.

We cruised on the NS right after Thanksgiving with the drink package included in HIA. Most drinks are $11 and under as well as many wines by the glass. I had several single malt scotches to choose from. If you have downloaded the Navigator app the bar menus with prices are on the app.

If you buy club orange ( I believe it’s $25/ day per person on a 7 day cruise) one of the benefits is choosing a higher level stateroom in the same category at the price of the original that you booked. There are other benefits as well like priority boarding and tendering, additional entree in MDR, and separate dining room on Pinnacle class ships.

My wife and I were on the 11/28 - 12/5 cruise with you. I noticed some vibration while dining in the main dining room. We have a deck 5 stern facing veranda booked on the April 17:transatlantic. I know that you are in one as well on this cruise. Are you feeling much vibration in your stateroom?

My favorite happy hour time bar has always been in the Crows Nest. We are sailing on the Neiuw Statendam soon and the Navigator app shows that location is only a coffee bar now. If you go to the Crows Nest and happen to think about it could you ask if a full bar is available. I do realize it might be different on the Nieuw Statendam. Thanks!

I would suggest that she bring plenty of zip lock baggies and bag some foods from the lido that she can take with her. In Alaskan ports as I recall there aren’t restrictions on taking food off of the ship.

My wife and I are booked on the Niew Statendam for a 7day Eastern Caribbean cruise with the “Have it All” promotion. We have little interest in any shore excursions. Has anyone tried to change the SE credit for crew incentive or anything else successfully?
-
I know that it's been asked and answered before but I can't find the information. What is the email address to send the shareholder benefit request?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Hi @kazu,
My wife and I are booked on the Statendam 7 day Eastern Caribbean from Nov. 28 to Dec. 5. We will be celebrating our 5th anniversary!

Thank you for the daily report!

We’ve sailed in an aft veranda on the Eurodam, the Konigsdam, and the Zuiderdam. Transatlantic on the Zuiderdam, RT SanDiego to Hawaii on the Eurodam, and 7day Caribbean on the Konigsdam. We’ve had them on deck 8, and 2 on deck 7. Loved them all and have a transatlantic in an aft veranda on Nieuw Statendam next year on deck 5. We have experienced a little vibration at times, no ash ever, and only first night out from San Diego was it very rough. Main dining and lido an elevator ride away. Main stage is a good walk away but need a good walk after dinner anyway!😜

These are what the Rodne sightseeing boats look like. They're right there in the harbor with the cruise ships. I hope the cruise ship I noted in the photos was actually the Prinsendam. I went by the coloring but I see by my photos that Cunard was there with us and the coloring is similar. Anyway this is the boat we took on our fjord tour.
comfortable seating inside and you could step outside at the bow when necessary. You will see when later.
We went to Pulpit rock of course.
Some people want to actually hike up there, so the boat made a stop afterward at a place where they could hike to the top.
There were beautiful waterfalls along the route, and we stopped at one to taste the water.
This is when you want to step outside to get a closer look, and a drink of that water.
There's also a place where some goats wait for the boats to stop and give them a snack. They must be well fed goats!
Already busy eating and we haven't even left yet!
He's saying thank you. You're welcome!
They took us here to show us a heart in the stone wall.
The heart shape is to the left of the greenery. Easier to see in person.
Right in the center in this photo and next to the water line.
There was quite a lot of scenery included on this tour and I would recommend it. I can't show it all. Hope you enjoyed the Lysefjord tour!
It looks like a face also in that heart!

Thank you Rich for the daily. I love the quote and all of the days celebrations. Campfires remind me of my scouting and RVing days, a good beer on a hot day always a winner. As a committed carnivore, the meal doesn’t appeal to me. Roy, sorry that you’re temporarily in moderator confinement. I’ll check back later for cares and celebrations.

I just got an email for my Aug. 07 NA sailing.
Please carefully review the information below regarding new, temporary testing requirements:
- Effective with cruises departing on Saturday, August 14, 2021, we will require ALL fully vaccinated guests to produce a negative viral COVID-19 test (medically supervised PCR or antigen test) taken within 72 hours of their embarkation on all Holland America Line sailings.
- Fully vaccinated guests will be required to provide proof of this negative COVID-19 test, along with proof of full vaccination at least 14 days prior to embarkation, upon arrival in the terminal and can then proceed on board.
- For guests embarking in the United States, please note that testing in the terminal will not be available so it’s critical that you have your negative test results with you at cruise check-in. We will not be able to accommodate guests without proof of a negative test.
In addition to testing requirements, effective with cruises departing on Saturday, August 7, 2021, we have also made adjustments to our onboard mask policy as follows:
- We require all guests to wear face masks when indoors.
- All guests ages 12 and older will be required to wear face masks in elevators and in designated indoor entertainment areas, all retail shops, and in the casino, except when eating or drinking.
- Guests will be required to wear face masks prior to being seated in our main dining rooms and in the Lido Market area. You may occasionally be asked to wear a mask in other designated areas where larger number of guests may congregate.
- As a reminder, masks are required during embarkation and debarkation in the terminal, and masks must also be worn during the debarkation process on board.
- We recommend guests wash or replace their mask daily and choose a good quality double-layer cloth or paper medical-grade mask. Please note that bandanas, neck gaiters and masks with exhaust valves will not be accepted as a substitute for a face mask and that visors and face shields are only permitted when used in addition to a mask.
Please check our TravelWell® (www.hollandamerica.com/travelwell) for further details on our updated testing requirements and onboard protocols.
These new requirements are being implemented to protect our guests and team members while onboard. Several destinations have implemented their own requirements and all guests will be required to follow the protocols in each destination we visit.
As stated above, we are hopeful these requirements will be temporary, and we appreciate your cooperation and look forward to welcoming you aboard.
Unfortunately the Travelwell link above has not been updated to show the new requirements. No help there!

I just read that Carnival and Princess are requiring masks indoors beginning August 7. Has anyone been notified by HAL?

Thank you Rich for the daily and Roy for the care and celebration list. Great collection of days and funny quote from Zsa Zsa. Meatballs look delicious. We visited San Juan on the Koningsdam in 2018. Interesting port with a challenging entrance. Our captain circled a couple of times waiting for the winds to die down. He warned us that we might have to miss but eventually was able to enter the port. Loved exploring the fortress!

I’ll join the others Lisa with thanks for your great “live from” posts. I also have traveled vicariously (and jealously) with you. Safe travels as you return home today.

Thank you Rich for the daily and Roy for the care and celebration lists. The quote is so true and the meal sounds delicious. I’ll pass on the drink, too much sugar. My fur baby is Lucas, a 13+ year old mini schnauzer. His intestinal issues are better after a day of rice, boiled chicken, and bananas for his meals.

I usually read the daily late in the day but don’t comment. Circumstances have me up early to care for an ailing dog. Great collection of celebrations today! Who doesn’t like cheesecake, I had a great father-in-law, and every day should be a day of friendship. The meal sounds good and the drink interesting. I’ve been to Skagway twice but don’t think that I have any digital pictures. Thanks for the daily Rich.

Questions about reserving things online ahead of cruise
in Holland America Line
Posted
Most items have to be booked not later than three days before sailing. I don’t know how long before a refund is made if you have to cancel. Perhaps someone with recent experience can answer. You are correct, no sodas can be brought on board but a certain number and size of canned or boxed water can be.
