I have found the "non RC" port staff at PE and Miami to be the most hostile and rude. One can get more wirh honey than with vinegar.
Their behavior was so bad I sit, pause and consider any other options of FLORIDA departures. PORT STAFF in Canaveral or TAMPA seem to understand proper people skills.

Honestly, I prefer the Radisson at Melbourne Beach...SMACK on the beach and being my MOM lives in DENVER she just might like being on the beach....a 45 minute drive..then to park...hmmmm decisions decisions decisions

I'm pretty sure...but...the eggs are served in 2 places..the regular buffet...skip them and go directly to the harbor . I have found scrambled eggs at the buffet..MEH..

Please try to do early. Main drag is BELVIEW...IF you have time...look for RUGGLES Avenue...van give you a confirmed left or right turn....HOWEVER if you are driving away from downtown. RUGGLES on your LEFT..look for Salve Regina College. .just about on the corner of BELLEVIEW AND Ruggles...only landmark I can give you....ANYWAY. .once you find yourself on Ruggles..on the right you will find a FRENCH CHÂTEAU looking home. "Seaview Terrace"...went to school there...also...if you are old enough to recall DARK SHADOWS from the 60's....the CLIFF WALK side of the home was used as the initial exterior shot.
The INN at Castle Hill is wonderful...
The SUMMER COTTAGES. are spectacular! My favorite Marble House..
I think you can make reservations for individual home tours..not really sure. Worth checking into

My story...my first cruise.."only need original birth certificate and DL. Done...schlep down to PE...my favorite port..sarcasm here...plenty of time...on line to "check in" being yelled at by charm school rejects! ..
Ok I'm next...yipeee I'm goin' on a cruise..I'm sooo happy...hand over DL and ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE....only to be told by another charm school reject that the birth certificate was not acceptable....wait....what...
Come to find out..that a SHORT FORM is not accepted. Wait..what's a short form I say with a quivering lip....I'm sorry ma'me. Wait....you mean I can't go...more quivering lip... I open my wallet..concealed carry license. ..social security card..florida medical ( therapy ) license ....credit cards galore..and I "insisted to talk to a superior"...flat out boo hooing now. ..items scooped up and she harumphefed away....IM NOT MOVING ...a supervisor came over...took me aside and...SHOCK OF SHOCK a kind soul....after 2 hours I was THE LAST ONE on the boat...
Lessons learned...it took me 6 months to get a long form from my birth state (NJ)....another story.. with actual final intervention by MY (now) Florida State Senator Marco Rubio.

Miami to tampa...95 to yehaw junction (hwy 60) no tolls
Miami tampa via WEST COAST OF FLORIDA INTERSTATE 75 Alligator Alley has toll..maybe 3 dollars (?) Much more direct for me..and my personal choice
3rd option. ..tolls Florida turnpike north ...to Orlando with also an exit to yehaw and then west to tampa
My Son went to school at,Florida Atlantic University(Boca Raton) I chose my drive according to the weather. Rain on east cost...I head west than up 75...rain on west...I prefer turnpike to yehaw...
Hwy 60 has LOTS of dark simple one lane each way traffic. .that's why I TRY to do my route 75 to "the alley"...
