  1. Kewl hope they still got em in Jan. We won something similar from Harley Davidson. It's very thin nylon construction + folds up about the size of a ladies cosmetic purse. We take it on every cruise. Use it for carry on when boarding, beach towels etc when goin ashore in ports. Great gift!

  2. Victory hands down! I always cruise this time of year. Sailin outta J-ville in Feb is iffy at best. Far better to sail from Miami so your first/last days aren't cold. Also, Victory itinerary far better. I'm not crazy about the Bahamas + Freeport is downright bad. Both itineraries are in the N. Atlantic. IMO, I'd be lookin at the 5 days to the Caribbean outta Miami. Same prices, better itineraries, much better weather.

  3. IMO, the Fantasy class ships lack balconies + the newer ships with all the balconies lack open air deck space. The Fantasy class may lack a couple of the new features, but they are maintained to the same standards as the newer ships. Myself, I really enjoy the older ships.

  4. We just got off that cruise a few weeks ago. We got to the port around 11 and were onboard by 11:30am. Our cabins were op[en and our luggage arrived about 1 pm. Tendering to Catalina can be a PITA if you wait till around 9am to debark. If you go down when the ship first anchors, there's no wait at all + you're not required to have a tender number. Self assist debark was also a breeze.

  5. In Nassau, they have the huge aquarium at Atlantis. That might get a little pricey with kids. I think they might enjoy the forts instead. Just ask any local taxi driver to take you to Fort Charlotte + Fincastle. The kids should love that, you'll also see the Queens Staircase. Think we gave the cabi about $20/30 last time we did that tour. NOT a fan of the Nassau straw market!

  6. Never sailed outta Galveston, but Port Canaveral has great facilities. That said, the sailaway is a little boring compared to Miami or Tampa. I've sailed outta Canaveral many times cuz it's far less driving miles than Miami for me. If you are driving, I highly recommend stayin at Radisson the nite before. It'looks a little expensive at first, but when you consider the free parking/shuttle/breakfast etc, it's an awesome deal. Their pool is GORGEOUS!

  7. Thanx for all the help, truly appreciated. I think we're goin with RCCL this time, 2 more days + slightly lower price. I love the sail away from Tampa with the cruise down the channel + under the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, but the terminal we sailed outta last time was dumpy + the processing atrocious. Hope this has changed, maybe RCCL uses different terminal.

  8. Not sure where to post this. Been on several cruises, all Carnival. Never had any real complaints. Wanna book a Southern Caribbean cruise + RCCL offers a 10 day for less than Carnivals 8 day. I'm close to getting VIP boarding on Carnival but, the RCCL itinerary looks better. My concerns are.....does RCCL have anytime dining? Also, while I'm not into the party atmosphere, I DETEST stuffy atmosphere. I like the laid back dress code etc on carnival. Should I stay where I'm at or give RCCL a chance?

  9. Looking at a 15 day Hawaii cruise next Jan. I'm sailing out of Long Bch next week and I've lived in CA so I know what to expect in SoCal this time of year. I'm wonderin bout the weather onboard for the 4 days to Hawaii + 4 days back. Anyone do this crossing that time of year? THANX!

  10. Young couple with kids, take the OBC, especially since you've already experienced the balcony. They are nice, + if you were an older couple goin on an Alaskan cruise, I'd take the balcony. But, in your situation, put it towards making memories with the kids.
