  1. You can have a separate credit card tied to each sea band, so there would be no problem with purchases.  VV doesn't care who sleeps where....they care who is booked where.  So if you are asking whether passengers 1&2 are booked in one room and 3&4 in the other, and 1 & 3 actually share a room...no problem.

Thanks everyone! I assume if I get a chance to bid on an upgrade it’d be an email? I was hoping to get the chance since we are in a GTY obstructed view.

Yes, upgrade bidding would come in an email.  A gty can put you anywhere as high as you've booked or higher...so in this case, you could be in an obstructed view or in a regular view.  You can also ask about purchasing an upgrade at the terminal; these were being offered a couple months ago. I don't know if they still are.
Regardless of the reason, the porters have a list of names/cabins, and even if you purchase an upgrade at port, VV will take care of the switch.  No worries. In the past, luggage tags were in the box with the sea bands.  Since they are no longer doing sea bands, I'm not sure what they are doing about tags.  No, you don't print them off at home the way you do on some other lines.

I'm really surprised that they are doing upgrade bids 3 days before the cruise....good luck.

Have a Nov cruise on Scarlett Lady to try out VV. I saw the loyalty program email and was trying to do a status match. We are Plat on Seabourn - a Carnival line - do you think they will upgrade as Carnival is listed but not Seabourn. Looking to see if I can get in another 2022 cruise just to make that mark as well

THey seem to be approving almost anything.  Sometimes they even do it right.  I submitted matching for myself and my adult daughter, and our booking shows 2 "deep blues" for her...so I tried again in my name.  This time I got the email but nothing on the cruise.  It doesn't matter since it is one per cabin, but very odd.....Like you, I'm considering working in another cruise before the end of the year.

Some time between 7:30 and 8:00 was the earliest disembark times if I recall correctly. You will use the app to schedule a disembark time, you can do that literally as soon as you get on board so you have your choice of times to exit.

We've already scheduled our disembarkation time for our upcoming cruise.  It was under "shore things" on the app.

Unfortunately don't think you can double dip, but whether their system is actually coded to catch this is another story!

From the My Next Virgin Voyage promo terms, "If champagne is included, see section 1.2.1, there is a limit of one bottle of champagne among all offers, i.e., anyone already receiving a bottle of champagne from a different offer will not receive a second bottle."

Thanks....I thought that might be the case, but had no real need to go looking for the fine print.

On our third voyage now, and a forth booked for October… no invite yet lol

You should be automatic and not need to do anything.  It should show up on your next cruise.  This assumes your sailings were regular fares...not casino fares, won a contest, or something else where you paid far less than posted charges.

You will need to be at the  Sea-Rovers or Sea Blazers Tier Level, to get the Champagne.  Virgin is currently doing status matches and their new program page is here:

    https://www.virginvoyages.com/sites/sailing-club#deep-blue-extras

I'm not getting the champagne as part of the deep blue extras.  I'm getting it as part of a rebooking while on board thru the Richard's Birthday deal...which specifically included a bottle of champagne.  Actually, I might get 2 bottles because I also qualify thru the deep blue extras.

  8. If you booked a gty cabin or bid on an upgrade, you will be notified within 48 hours of your cruise.  The porters at the terminal can handle your luggage tag issue.  DO mention it to your cabin host; he will run down the bags if they don't arrive by the time you get to the room.  Also, we always cover ourselves by placing extra tags with our name on the bags.  You can't have too many, right?

It sounds they're one of those one-person changing rooms, like one-person restrooms.  The earlier post made it seem like it's a large, communal changing room for both men and women, with no partitions to speak of.  Which makes Woodstock look like Disney World in comparison.

The only medium sized, communal room is the one that holds the lockers; literally where you put your things in a "cubbie" and lock it.  The change rooms are made for one person at a time.  Or show up in your swimsuit and bypass the dressing room.

No gender-separated locker rooms?  What, what?!  Are you saying both men and women undress to nudity in front of each other, while they change from casual/street clothes into swimsuits/towels?

I know VV wants to be "woke", but this is a US-based cruise ship, not Woodstock 1969!

There's nothing "woke" about the ship.  The "locker room" is basically a room with lockers.  There are private areas where people can change.  Most people just show up in their bathing suits, with or without clothes over them.  Afterwards they return to their cabins or to the pool deck,  If you want to change, get your clothes out of your locker, take them into a private dressing area, and change.  The only time you are there with a member of the opposite sex is if you both happen to be dealing with  lockers at the same time.

    Geoff

I've done links before, but I've needed the full name of the person and either the booking number or the "code."  I couldn't make it happen with the code alone.

  12. Agree--Carnival is the worst.  It is basically a frat party.  I've managed to avoid NCL.  Actually, the "bar tab" is one of the things I really like about VV.  The drinks are the same price or cheaper than other lines, and you don't pay the 18-20% that other lines add as "gratuity."  You buy a bar tab for $300 and you get an additional $50-125 depending on the current promotion.  Right now it is $100, so you're getting a 25% discount on the menu prices of drinks if you spend the entire tab.  You can share it with anyone you choose.  It works, whether you would normally drink 2 somethings per day or 10, and comes out cheaper than most unlimited packages.  And, best of all, there are no drunks running around trying to max out their beverage package.  If you haven't used up your tab, buy a round for your new best friends on the last night.

  13. Thanks for the above--that is what the computer was doing today...that the promos at the deposit are what you get BUT the woman agreed it was wrong because the placeholder isn't technically a deposit.  She seemed sure that she could get it corrected, as did my TA.  You'd better believe I'm tracking it.  This is also the last time I'll try to make more than one booking at a time.  They tried to come up with new rules on each one!

They also said that I couldn't us a placeholder on a "Lock it in" rate.  I don't see where it says that.  It says "no cancelations, no refunds, no date changes."  Not a word that says placeholders can't be applied to this.  SO,  I didn't book that one at all, and then tried to use the placeholder on a 2023 cruise and they couldn't apply the current pricing.  That is absolutely NOT what we were told when I bought it.  I know it will get worked out, but for now it is beyond frustrating.

I'm amazed that you SEE the $600 OBC.  I'm only seeing $300 and both VV and TA have said that they have to add the other 300 manually.  But the cruise we did book successfully has not shown up on my dashboard yet, only on the emails.

I think there are technically 4 - Standard A, Veg A, Standard B and Veg B!  They let you swap in Veg items to the Standard menu if you have any dietary needs or preferences.

Thanks--I knew you could swap out a veg course for a non-veg course, but I didn't know there were 2 veg menus.

You guys convinced me! I'm booked on the Brilliant Lady for January 2024! You're going to see me around these boards a lot in the meantime!

Spend some time on YouTube...there is a lot of good info there.  Also, you can see most of the menus at https://eatsleepcruise.com/virgin-voyages-restaurant-guide-with-menus/  There have been a few minor changes since this was posted, but it is overall accurate.

  16. Was this this morning?  I tried to make a new reservation using a placeholder.  Instead of giving me the current price, the system kept defaulting to the price on the day I bought the placeholder.  The woman agreed that this was incorrect, but was unable to fix it so I did not complete the booking.  She said that she'd get with her supervisor, get it fixed, and call me back later today.

  17. Sorry, I knew what you were saying about the fries, but was concerned that people who hadn't done VV might not.

I agree that the ads need help.  I saw ONE that was an improvement, but I saw it once and never repeated.  The ads really don't reflect the experience on the ship.  Yes, there are 20 somethings and The Batchelorette types, but the most recent stats I've seen said that the average age on board has been 47 with 50% being married guests.  My TA says 90% of his clients who have sailed have already rebooked another cruise.....the VV stats are somewhat lower, but still impressive.  If you're going to be offended by tats or piercings, VV is probably not for you.  If you want great service, really good food, and a totally different cruise experience, give it a try.

  18. As of 6 months ago, VV did not have any cruise/hotel packages for the 10/22 TransAtlantic but they were "working on it."  They were happy to look up air on line for me, but what they quoted me on Delta was more than I'd already seen on line and $300 more than I ended up paying.  For now, since your cruise is a year away, I'd just hang loose and see if they open an air/ground arrangements department in the next 6 months or so.  The days of difficulty in booking one way air or paying outrageous prices are gone; we had no difficulty finding what we wanted.  We'd been to BCN before, so basically knew where we wanted to stay.  The real choice is whether you're there to recover from jet lag and get on the ship or whether you want to spend extra days seeing the city.  When flying in a day early to catch a ship, we stay in the airport area at a hotel that offers a complimentary airport shuttle.  This time I was pleased to see that I could book it on Chase points.  If coming in days ahead, you'll want to stay in the Las Ramblas area as it is near the cruise terminal and in the heart of the tourist area with easy transportation to other tourist locations.  You'll be able to get good recommendations here or on a FB group about hotels.

What I've read about the longer cruises is that there are small changes on some of the menus.  For example, Test Kitchen now has 3 menus titled A, B, and Vegetarian.  A and B are rotated, Vege is available every night.  In The Galley, there are "of the day" offerings in addition to the normal ones.  For instance, the taco place has a standard 3 tacos but they also added a different addition for each day of the week.  There are similar changes at other Galley locations.  They've added a couple of new shows in the past month, and  other lines typically add more entertainment on cruises of 12+ days.  We love TAs.  Don't let people who have never done one turn you off to them!
