Oh dear, you said the dreaded words "British Airways" they won't help you
Nothing wrong with BRITISH AIRWAYS.
-
I often see people posting to find out who is the Captain, or Cruise Director or the Maitre 'd. I have never seen the fascination. None of them has ever ruined my cruise and none have ever made it wonderful
Totally agree. I just wish they were all fluent in the English language.

MSC UK is different to MSC USA.
I have spoken to MSC and if you have booked through a TA it has to be booked through your TA. It will not reappear on the MSC site.
-
Same here and in the last few days details of the drink packages for my cruise also disappeared.
It is my understanding, that if you book through a TA, you can only book the packages through the TA. There is no way around this because on the MSC booking, not only have the package details been removed, but under your details you should see that the package has been cancelled.
I was offered the choice of 2 drink packages by my TA when I booked but decided to check them out first and the price by the TA was same as MSC.
I intend to ring my TA tomorrow to check the current pricing.
See thread below from about post no. 29

Pennine,
Are you from the UK? If so did you book through a TA?
-
You may well be right.
When I booked my cruise in January, CN quoted me same cost as the MSC website. I intend to ring CN on Monday to see what they are now charging for the drink package.
-
Sidari,
Yes, I could have booked this 4 days ago direct with MSC but when I checked today the packages aren't available and under my details it states that the drink package is a cancelled item.
I was offered the package when I booked with CN but decided to check it out on MSC UK site and it was the same price as CN. It will be interesting on Monday to find out what CN are charging.
-
Sidari,
I was told that only the TA(CN) could give me the cost of the package and that MSC UK has no access/control as to the package details.
-
The cruise I have booked is with a TA(CN) & did not have an inclusive package, so I have tried to book one on MSC website, but no packages are available.
I contacted MSC (UK) to be informed that if you book through a TA you must book all drink packages direct with the TA. Not sure what 'mark-up' the TA will put on for this privilege.

I am sailing on Fantasia from Barbados to Genoa. Since this journey is northbound the brochure states US$ is the on board currency. I recall a post stating that if the drinks package was 'All inclusive restaurant and bar drinks' then the currency would be Euro. Any idea as to what the currency is likely to be.
Thanks.

Nice photos and brings back memories of an overnight stay in Rio on MSC Musica.

No idea, as have never ordered "Chips" in the restaurant or tried in a ship's buffet.
You do lead a sheltered life:D:D

Whilst the original cause from the person first affected may be related to food poisoning, the rapid spread is caused by the infected person(s) touching surfaces (handles, hand rails, serving tongs etc) or even air borne if they have vomited in an area that you enter. Revolting though it sounds, the spread is caused by bodily fluids and poor personal hygiene, and is sadly relatively common on cruise ships, particularly during winter months. Food poisoning is a different issue and thankfully rarer.
The rapid spread is caused by eating the same food.

I think everyone in the cabin should be confined. What is the point of confining someone when the other occupant happily spreads the virus around the ship
Because the major cause is food poisoning and not noro virus.

That fish prawn looks nice. If you stay on a Friday go to J D Wetherspoon for Fish Friday - not a prawn in sight.:);)
-
I saw the latest Jane McDonald Cruising series on TV and noticed that she used a GoPro some of the time. Therefore, I was wondering if they are allowed on the ships or 'frowned upon'.
I think they would be really useful for taking selfies of us in the Fjords, or am I just being 'sad'!!! :-)
Sad:D

I would recommend:-

I used the above for an Indian Visa when sailing on Princess and visiting Cochin.

Thanks for the information.

We were on Musica the last week of September this year and really enjoyed.
There was only one downside, we had to come home!!!
We flew in a day before and stayed in Smart Hotel Holidayl, Mastre. We arrived early in the morning and were able to book into the hotel. The hotel was only a few minutes from the tram and were able to sell us a 24 hour ticket for the tram and water bus for €20 each. Well worth having as you can jump on and off for 24 hours from when you first activate it. Just make sure you activate on every journey.
We went into Venice that afternoon and had a walk about but there were too many people about and didn't really enjoy it. Maybe some time we will go back for a few days.
The hotel offers transfer to the port in a minibus for something like €5 each. No lugging luggage over the bridges for us!!
Now the cruise. First of all it is what you make of it. We hadn't cruise for 10 years due to circumstance but really enjoyed it.
Don't do too many trips. There are plenty of walk off opportunities. So think about what you really want to see.
Americans, now friends, we met did 4 trips that week were exhausted as they didn't factor in the amount of walking required on some of them.
Even though there are no full sea days there are some half days at sea, enjoy them, relax, soak up the atmosphere and sun and the odd "lemonade".
Just go with an open mind like us and you will enjoy it.
Feel free to ask questions and I will try to answer as best I can.
Really helpful as we will be on Musica in a few weeks time and staying 2 nights at the Smart Hotel.

Many thanks to all who replied.
Today, after many days of trying, I decided to have one last go to check-in on line and low and behold it worked. I still do not have any faith in the website and I will also confirm with MSC that I have actually checked in.
Not sure if it is standard MSC procedure but a) I now have to contact my TA to issue the e tickets and b) no cc details were asked for.
Thanks again for your help in this matter.

Skier,
Thank you for the information and I did fill in passenger data first with the correct details but the web check-in is asking for this information as well. In view of this I am unable to register my cc.
-
I am sailing in 3 weeks time and when trying to complete the web check-in process I get the following response:-
Emergency email cannot be equal to your email or another passengers email.
Yet there is no box for me to infill the email details of the emergency contact.

After my last cruise, just got back on Saturday from Britannia. I found there are 2 types of travellers the moaners and the people who just get on and enjoy. The moaners are tedious. With whats going on in the world I feel your pain with not having the correct tea in your cabin...............
There is a 3rd type - those with more money than sense paying more than £200ppn for a product that is 'propped up' by the parent company.
Another drinks package question - I did search!
