The door is at the bottom of the ocean.

Jim, I first encountered these at the Panama Canal in the 70s, but I don't think that was where they were first used. They are called dolos (more than 1... dolosse), the link below says it is a translation from Afrikaans meaning knuckle bones. Since it is on the internet it's gotta be true... right;)?
Tetrapods

Exactly! We were on the Grand to Hawaii and the next stop was dry dock. We brought on contractors in Hawaii and they immediately started pulling up carpet here and there. Computer techs were installing computers and pulling wire. There's always painting going on on the Promenade deck and 1/2 the time sections were quarantined off so no passengers could walk through all the way around (very irritating). So I don't buy it that Princess doesn't want pax on board, maybe they want a crew working 24/7 with no one on board but the contractors. They should just say so instead of making up lies.
You've hit the nail on the head.

IMO its rouge officers onboard these ships that attempt to cut corners.
I agree with the post that says its not directed from the corporate office.
'spin' from a cheerleader.

Surely the Captain is complicit.

I share your thoughts and feelings, cynbar. I've also read that cruise companies frequently comp Cruise Critic hosts with free cruises to curry favor with them.
Yes, a few years ago Royal Caribbean asked CC to give them the details of pro Royal Caribbean members.

No unfortunately not. Gammon is uncommon in Australia and I have never ever seen it on any menus. You can probably buy it through speciality butchers to have at home yourself but not when dining out.
If you love your meat though especially ham/pork then stop in at The Lowenbrau in The Rocks (near cruise terminal, 5 min walk) which is a German restaurant and they do the most amazing meat platters *drool* or you can't go wrong with the Pork knuckle - crackling heaven.
Thanks for your help and recommendation.

Ok,
If you have a specific cuisine you're after let me know and I can advise.
Braliza,
Can you get gammon steaks(not sure what they are called in AUS) but in UK they are normally grilled or fried and served with egg/pinapple.
Thanks.

Should have gone to Specsavers.

Simple I refuse to pay it so will be removing gratuities. It has been said that you are making staff suffer when it is not their decision to raise gratuities, but writing to managers or complaining to Princess on Facebook/Twitter falls on deaf ears. This is the second increase this year totally 17% increase in wages and I have not received that amount in total over 5 years so do not believe all the gratuities go to the staff just to boost Princess profits.
I agree and until they(Princess) make the cruise cost and promotions(Sip n Sail etc) a level playing field with those available in the US I will continue to remove tips. I've seen on here before all the rubbish about 'when in Rome do what the Romans do' or should that be what US citizens do.

Ive just posted this on their page, tee hee
I'm looking at a Princess Cruise that stops at Benoa Bali, but I see that Princess is charging a $25 service fee for Visa's I find this confusing as Australia is now one of the many countries that don't need a visa for Bali. Can you explain this fee please?
The port of Benoa can't issue a free visa so you need to get the VOA for which they(Indonesia) charge a fee.

When I was a lad(over 55 years ago) it was called 'steralised milk' and it tasted awful. The milk on the ship is much improved.
-
People spread it and that includes passengers and crew.
Chefs prepare improperly cooked food and both passengers and crew eat it.

YEP!
He negotiates a price & won't budge to complete things as design when there are cost overruns. :(
pig-headed

Princess featured on rip off Britain this morning, it was about different prices in other countries.
About time but it's not just Princess - RCI and Celebrity also guilty.

How would you do it? Spray painting isn't an option.

Working to-day sunday on ventura what were they doing painting the union flag on the bow,s of ventura stood on a cherry picker witha hand roller
Thanks for the information as some people on here have suggested that the lack of the Union Flag could mean that Ventura was to be transferred to another Carnival brand.

Some of the areas look quite nice and very tastefully done, whereas some areas actually looked rather cheap and kind of unfinished. A little too "cold" for my tastes. I've not been aboard any ships yet, but from what I've seen online, I'm actually quite glad I'm going on Ventura soon instead. It's all a matter of personal taste though, like viewing a house and thinking which bits you'd change....
Thanks for the superb photos NN.
I agree but I wouldn't change anything.
Linda - Thanks for the photos.

Who the devil decided on the decor. It's all browns, beige and all zigzags. Personally I think it looks awful.
Stick with Fred.

If it is true that P&O make up the shortfall then everybody should remove the auto tip. Why pay for something that you don't need to.
