  1. They work great for that! I swear those hooks have 1000 uses -- we bring 3 different sizes/weight ratings and they come in handy so much, especially when we do an interior cabin. Love them!
  2. Thank you! And I always bring my own extension cord, and usually run it across the ceiling to the vanity with small magnetic hooks to keep it out of everyone's way.
  3. We're booked on Jubilee for next March and I'll have my CPAP with me. From the pics/videos I've seen from Mardi Gras and Celebration, it looks as though instead of nightstands next to the bed they have tiny little shelves now. It's hard to judge scale though. I'm just wondering for those of you have brought their CPAP along on either of these ships, did you have any trouble with it fitting on the little shelf? I have an AirSense 11 for reference. Thanks!
  4. So odd that Royal no longer offers flowers! I hope they make a return. Surprisingly, Carnival has tons of beautiful arrangements you can order, and they always have fresh roses available by the arrangement or even just as singles in the candy store. On our honeymoon in 2017 we had several arrangements family had ordered for us, and they were gorgeous. But opposite of Royal, flowers and plants of any kind are definitely on the verboten list to bring aboard with you.
  5. They really are amazing, aren't they? The waves crashing against the ships, the coziness of the cove, you feel like you're the only people onboard.❤️ Glad you're enjoying it!
  6. I didn't know they even still had the roll call threads here on CC... I often head the FB groups for our cruises and they usually have upwards of 800-1000 folks in them. I love CC and have been here many years, but it's just a lot easier/more colorful to host groups over there where you can have photo albums, events, etc.!
  7. Coves really are amazing! On the Dream class ships we like to get one of the ones where there's no lifeboat overhead. It still feels cozy, but you have such a beautiful view of the sky and stars at night. And don't forget one of the best perks of having a cove -- front and center for the pier runner show if you're on the right side of the ship! 😁
  8. MSC has the Yacht Club, which has it's own pool, sun deck, bar, restaurant, along with other perks such as drinks and internet.
  9. I second the rec for one of the "sideways" interior Havana cabins -- 5205 or 5208. We just got off of Vista in 5205 and that layout makes it feel so much bigger than the regular interiors! They book up way far in advance, though -- You have to jump on them quick!
  10. FTTF does not get to select check-in times 2 days early, only Plat and Diamond. And as of a few weeks ago, our boarding passes had "FTTF" and no boarding zone, so that is new.
  11. A noon flight!! 😮 I can tell you, "81 miles" means nothing down here... we measure in time, not distance. And trying to make a noon flight out of IAH would stress me out to where I would lose any relaxation from the cruise. Sure, you might dock right on time and breeze right off the ship, sail all the way to Houston with no problems, but the planets would all have to line up just right. Fog, the never-ending construction on I-45, accidents, lots of variables. I work on the island and live about 30 miles away. Some days it might take me 40ish minutes, some days an hour, some days when there's a bad accident (too common these days due to the state of the freeway and the construction) it has taken me 2 hours+. To go 30 miles. There could also be other issues you just can't control. We boarded the Carnival Vista a few weeks ago, and the day before they had two medical emergencies that caused a big delay. Ship didn't get into Galveston until 11am, we couldn't board until close to 2pm. No noon flights being caught that day (and doubtful on the 2:30 ones.) I would suggest looking at one of the more local, flexible transportation options such as Galveston Saltwater Moms or Friendswood Moms, or Highrollers by Shugg. All 3 of those get very high marks from people. Uber or Lyft is probably going to be the more expensive of any of your options. And definitely make sure you have good travel insurance that will cover you and your flight costs if any delays happen. Happy cruising!!
  12. I'm the same way, and it has always just tasted like (really, really good) creme brulee to me. But the teeny tiny little bitty rosebud on top is so cute!! ❤️
  13. The short rib is soooo tender and delicious.. But honestly you could close your eyes and point to something on the menu to order and not go wrong -- It's all amazing! And since it's all served family-style, when everyone gets something different there's always *plenty* for everyone to have some of all of it. So.Much.Food. And so good!!
  14. I'm going to have to give the point to the Floridian on this one... when we say "bless your heart..." we're really saying, "well you're a real special kind of stupid, aren't you?" 😂
  15. Just got back from being in 5205 on Vista, and *loved* it!! We love Havana in general -- would never do anything else on a Vista class ship -- but had never done an interior. Did my homework and was able to snag one of the "sideways" staterooms (5205 and 5208) and it was awesome. My son was in a regular Havana interior a few doors down so we were able to compare, and were so happy with our pick. The sideways layout made a huge difference in how much space we had, and it felt a lot bigger than it was. And oh, what a glorious, cool, cave of awesomeness for that afternoon siesta.😍 I so wanted to take pictures and video of it but the Vista was seriously delayed that day and embarkation was a crazy rushed mess. But if there's anything you want to know about that room specifically please let me know!
  16. OP here.. Sorry, I didn't mean to pull the pin on this and walk away -- The c-bug finally caught me after 3 years and took me down for the rest of the week. Back on the mend now - thank you, Paxlovid! - and just wanted to tack on a couple of thoughts. Yes, I went to guest services to at least make them aware. They were very polite, as they always are, and said they would let security know. But this was admittedly nearing the end of the week before I had had enough and went to GS. I don't like to be a complainer, and we tried to just stay in our happy drama-free Havana area. But I shouldn't have to do that, you know? And I could smoke in the casino but the hubs couldn't smoke a cigar there so up on 11 was it. I never saw one security person wandering anywhere during the whole cruise, period. Maybe they were super stealthy? Doubtful. But there were plenty of general workers always about as always, picking up glasses and emptying ashtrays right in front of the people blasting their music. And while it is absolutely not their job to step in and say anything to them at all, they absolutely could have told someone whose job it was to do something. As others have said, I think it just reflects on an overall f-you-I'll-do-what-I-want sort of attitude held by a good chunk of society these days. It's sad, and it seems to only be getting worse.
  17. Just got off Vista on Saturday, and had an amazing time, as always. The staff are always wonderful on Carnival, but they all seemed extra-nice this time around for some reason! Every last one of them. And our stateroom host was so sweet! The whole ship was sparkling clean, the food was *much* improved since our most recent Breeze cruise in October, and our beloved Havana area was just as awesome as always. The one issue we had this cruise was not one I expected. I know Carnival just recently made the big to-do about how they're done with everyone's shenanigans and were going to be cracking down. Chair hogs, fights, that sort of thing were not going to be tolerated...They made it sound like Shaquille O'Neal himself was going to pop out of a lifeboat and kick anyone's ass who defied the rules. And things like bluetooth speakers were now banned entirely. This kind of irked me because we always bring a small one to play white noise on while we sleep, but NBD we just used the phone itself. I don't know if it was in defiance over the new rules being enforced, or we just lucked out on every other cruise, but this cruise -- immediately after the proclamation had been made -- it was a big issue with the speakers. At least 4 or 5 times when we'd go up to the smoking area at 11 aft, there would be someone with music just *blasting* out of their personal speaker. A couple of times, the guy hung it right from under the big umbrella like we had all voted to hear it. A couple of times there were two people with competing speakers. One time, a woman was wandering through one of the shops holding a speaker, also at near full volume, like she was the only one aboard the ship. And the enforcement each time? Nowhere to be found, Shaq or otherwise. It was pretty ridiculous. So if anyone was wondering about whether or not Carnival was actually going to start enforcing their own rules that they make such a big deal about, the answer is definitely NO.
  18. We just got off that cruise as well, also in Havana, and agree with pretty much everything you said. That filet mignon was amazing! I was very surprised, and very impressed. We were happily surprised with nearly all the food, actually, compared to our other post-restart Carnival sailings on Vista and Breeze. Most recent was Breeze in October, and this was a night-and-day difference for us between then and now. We are faaarrrrrrr from being foodies by any stretch of the definition, but the offerings had gotten to the inedible level on several occasions. Everything was much improved this time, especially in the MDR and at the Marketplace buffet. And we love the Havana area... It's the only way to go on a Vista-class ship!! So peaceful and quiet, with great bartenders. Never had a wait at the outside bar. We realized as were disembarking that this will probably be the last time we'll get to enjoy Vista or the Havana area before she leaves, barring some incredible casino deal, and that makes me sad. Really enjoy that ship.
  19. Was just going through my pictures looking for something else, and came across this from our cruise on Magic in 2016. Not really that long ago, but feels like eons since we had little touches like fruit and an umbrella in our drinks... Not a deal breaker by any means, but it did make me kinda sad to see it again and remember little extras like that. 😞
  20. The Atrium Bar has the exact same "fancy coffee" machine as Java Blue, they just open a bit later (I believe 9am?) The loss of breakfast in Ocean Plaza remains the biggest "hurt" of all the cutbacks for my husband and I, and the one that makes the least sense. It's not like they have to make extra food or anything, they're just splitting off some of it from the Marketplace buffet -- as well as some of the crowd. And it only requires a couple of people to keep it replenished. But definitely go get a Cortadito at the Havana Bar one morning... That teensy little cup of jet fuel will rocket you straight into your day onboard! 😁
  21. You can also get those at the Red Frog Rum Bar on the Lido deck! After the Twilight Zone, the Caribbean Colada is my second fave. 🙂
  22. Here is the drink menu for the first few hours out of Galveston.
  23. Sorry, I had to laugh at that... Not at you, just the idea of it. You won't feel underdressed if you forgot your pants these days on Carnival, lol. OP, the Breeze is a wonderful ship, our 2nd favorite. If she had a Havana area, she would be The Perfect Ship.❤️ We've always enjoyed tea time. While the offerings have gotten slimmer, along with everything else, it's still a nice respite for a little bit with some goodies they don't have any other time. And if you have Cheers, all the fancy teas are included. We cruise mostly to just relax and unwind... We definitely cruise for the ship, not the ports, and there are plenty of quiet, out of the way spots on Breeze to do just that. Those spots might change day to day depending on crowd flow, but you'll find them! While we have definitely seen a downturn in food quality on our Breeze cruises since the restart, it's not inedible or anything. We love love love Cucina del Capitano and Bonsai Sushi!! They do cost extra, but it's really reasonable. Like most things, it's all what you make it, and I think you have a great handle on things by metering your expectations ahead of time. The best parts of cruising -- the sea air, the vistas, sunsets over the water, quality time with family -- haven't gone anywhere, and feel even more valuable after the past few years. Have a wonderful cruise!!
