Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Except it isn't shown as a balcony cabin. It isn't shown with a door, just a window.
  2. We booked the Sapphire with an Oceanview guaranty cabin for Alaska in May. I later bid the minimum for a premium oceanview (for the extra space) and the bid was accepted. Cabin C100. . We knew the location is at the front of the ship. My question is that the confirmation states "metal front balcony". Does anyone know what that means?
  3. We are booked on the Sapphire for an Alaska cruise out of Vancouver as a OV guarantee. Today at 35 days out our cabin number appeared on the app. My question is can Princess change that again or are we now locked in? I'm happy with the cabin and thinking of cancelling my upgrade bid but if they can move us again I don't want to that.
  4. This tour is already sold out on our May cruise. I was able to book the bus through Juneau tours. Our goal is Nugget Falls rather than the glacier itself.
  5. Is there anything onboard that is prepackaged such as cookies or crackers? Just asking as we always try for something local but I understand budget restrictions esp for families.
  6. Thank you. I have heard that even if you share you are charged for 2. This is our 6th cruise but haven't cruised in almost 20 years. This cruise for us is about the scenery, wildlife, experience, etc and we agreed the dining, particularly the MDR wasn't important to us. But I have no problem with asking about sharing at the time.
  7. We are on the Sapphire in May on an Alaska cruise and we have Princess plus. There aren't a lot of casual venues on this particular ship but we're ok with that. I understand that Vines menu is a charcuterie-type board. We are also ok with that because we often do that at home when we've eaten another meal out and on port days that would be perfect. But reading other posts it sounds like more food than we would eat because we would be charged for 2 if we are both there, Is it possible (or would it be tacky) to take what we don't eat back to our cabin for another day?
  8. Has anyone stayed at the Carmana? Its a little more than the Days Inn but somewhat better reviews. We arrive Friday night after10:00 pm on Amtrak from Tacoma for a Saturday embarkation so are just looking for one night's sleep and an easy trip to the ship.
  9. We will be on this same cruise. We have also booked the railway trip in Skagway and hope to make it to the museum in the afternoon but heard you can walk to the local cemetery and find interesting and historical gravesites. We may choose that instead. Have not booked anything in Juneau as we want to make time to visit local galleries and artisans in search of local artwork. Weather permitting we will take the tram trip on our own in the afternoon.
  10. Thank you for posting the Major Maine discount. I almost missed it.
  11. Not having cruised in over 20 years I had a lot of questions on this topic. Can you book excursions before final payment? Are they fully refundable if you change your mind or have to cancel the cruise? It's been a rough year health wise for me and next year is my make up year for travel, but sometimes the universe interferes. So right now planning is exciting.
  12. Good to know. Thanks. I just boomed the Days Inn because we are arriving in Vancouver by train around midnight and just need s few hours sleep before heading to the ship.
  13. Our cruise ends in Whittier on June 1 and we plan on spending the night in Anchorage then taking a train to Seward for 2 nights and doing a boat tour in Seward before heading back to fly out of Anchorage. We were originally going to rent a car but the options were more expensive so thanks for the information.
