Halfacts has pics of 6164 on the Westerdam, same class of ship so should be the same? (No bathtub, only roll in shower.)

Sadly, it is completely different. Noordam is the only ship HAL has that has this tub and seat configuration.

A kind lady currently on Noordam and the passengers in 6164 kindly hot some pics of the bathroom for us today. they are submitting the pics to Halfacts.

I’m shocked that the cabin could have ever been considered fully accessible. HAL has reclassified the cabin as ambulatory accessible as a result of concerns expressed by the current passengers. The handicapped member of their group is unable to independently transfer.

The deep jacuzzi tub has a seat set across it and a few inches below the tub’s top edge.

Have you called the Special Needs Department? I had similar concerns about a cabin one time and they called the ship and took pictures of the cabin.

I tried a call to guest services yesterday evening and they closed before anyone picked up. Out PCC is away this week.

I’ll try the Special Needs Dpt today. Thanks!

  3. Haljo, unfortunately Halfacts doesn’t have either cabin. Neither does YouTube as far as I can find. I think Noordam is the only ship that has this particular sideways aft suite with an “accessible” bathtub.

ive sailed Noordam in an aft suite years ago, but long before an accessible site became necessary.

  4. My husband is handicapped so we booked 6164 for a 14 day Alaska cruise. This evening, I got a notification that the room is now considered ambulatory accessible because the seat in the tub is not the correct height for transfers. It is not the typical roll in shower with seat for most accessible cabins, like we’ve had before.

    I’m concerned.

Has anyone stayed in 6164 or 6175 that has bathroom pics they can share?

  5. I am in shock this afternoon. I called my PCC to book an 11 day cruise next year. The cost for the Neptune suite was just more than I wanted to pay, even though we normally stay in one.

My husband’s health has gotten worse this year and he now needs a fully accessible handicapped cabin. I asked for a handicapped Signature suite, but they were all booked. Our PCC upgraded us to a fully accessible handicapped Neptune suite at no additional charge over the cost of a Signature suite.

I’m shocked, and so thankful that she was able to do that for us. ♥️

  6. Has anyone ever seen HAL pull room inventory out of the 7 day cruises for someone wanting to book the 14 cruise (essentially two 7 day cruises)? The only rooms open for the 14 day cruise is in the front of the ship.

My husband has trouble walking and wants to be on the aft in a Neptune Suite so the walk to the rear pool and dining room is shorter.

What is the advantage to booking all 14 days as one cruise vs booking the two segments? The individual segments are currently cheaper. I’m confused.

We are having to rebook since our trip on the Rotterdam was cancelled. :-(

  7. He really wanted a t-shirt, but most only came in medium. There was nothing in an XL to buy.

My husband is 6’4”, ex-basketball player in college. He is actually lean, but a large boned, tall guy. He wears a XXL.

We almost always end up buying a T-shirt ashore for him. I would love a cruise-specific shirt for him in his size!

  8. If you were fairly experienced and had to choose one 2 tank dive in Curacao which would do? Coming in on equinox and need to book

Doesn’t look like the ship’s excursion is all that great

    Thanks

You won't have time to go to the west end. In the East, Car Pile off the Sunscape resort (deep dive at 90' or more) and Director's Bay are great.

  9. If you want a fantastic locals restaurant on the water, go to Sea Side Terrace near the Sunscape Resort. Dining al fresco on the water. Sea food comes from the boat to the kitchen - a converted shipping container. It is the most fantastic experience!!

  10. Thanks so much. I contacted him and he immediately responded. I still have questions and hopefully he'll reply. He didn't mention where we would be diving though. I would really love to go somewhere that we could see some sea horses (it seems like everything I look at for Curacao shows divers coming across a lot of sea horses and this is one of the things that I have never been able to see when snorkeling).

Sea horses are small, deep (for snorkeling) and camouflaged. If anyone can find them, Hans can.

    Diving in Curacao is fantastic!!!

  11. We will have our 9 year old daughter with us, needing to do a Bubble Maker class (so not sure if the area you mentioned for Hans would still be appropriate since she would have to do an easy entry beach with shallow water). Do you know if Hans offers a Bubble Maker class?

He does do Bubble Maker classes. The Tug Boat site is easy beach entry, calm water, shallow. Hans even does diving for the severely handicapped there! I can't speak highly enough for him, his shop and his staff!!

  12. We are in port from 8-4pm...so which would suit us best? What's the difference between the west or east and which is a "must see" for new "discover" divers with easy entry and fairly calm water?

Bas said he would take us to San Juan area to Shon-Mosa and No-Name, which he states is pretty calm weather.

Either would be fine. Hans would take you to Tug Boat - shallow wreck with great coral, eels, colorful sponges, sea horses, good wall. Easy entry and very protected. Shon-Mosa and No name have a slightly better chance of seeing a turtle.

You can't go wrong either way.

East and West are just different environments.
