  1. I'm also a Canuck and have been paying in US funds and using an internet based TA in the States for a about 10 years to book my cruise. On my upcoming cruise, on top of the Pick Your Perk offer and OBC credit for having a Future Cruise Passage Certificate, we received a discount of $190US just for transferring the booking from Celebrity to the internet only agency.

  2. When we have an evening flight on disembarkation day, we rent a car close to the pier that can be dropped off at the airport. We have a leisurely lunch somewhere nice, maybe do a bit of shopping or sightseeing, grab and early dinner rather than airport food. Luggage is stashed in the trunk so we're free of shlepping it around.

DH drops me off at the airport departure area, and loads the luggage cart. I'll grab a coffee and a seat. He is then scoots to the car return and grabs the shuttle back without having to deal with luggage. He meets up with me and we check in. Works for us.

  3. Due to illness, we have not cruised for 4 years and cannot wait for our Reflection cruise on March 1st!

I am pleased to see the positive posts about the MDR. We had always enjoyed the MDR experience. Four years ago the downturn in the quality of the food made us feel like fools to get all dressed up on formal nights only to be presented with food that was frankly insulting. At the time, between the disappointing quality of the food and the lax enforcement of the formal dress code, (no intention whatsoever about starting a dress code thread!!), as much as I have had a long love affair with Celebrity, it felt like it we were the victims of a practical joke. All dressed up and nowhere to go.

So although we have purchased a 5 night dining package for a 7 night cruise, I will look forward to the two formal nights in the MDR.

  4. Been going to Cancun for 10 years. I always pre-book our private transfer - $55 USD ROUND TRIP. They are waiting outside the arrivals for me with my name on a sign every time without fail.

But I still get accosted all the way out from baggage claim to the door. I simply say "I have a ride", as I keep walking. Works very well.

They will often look "official", call out your airline name, etc. Just say "I have a ride" and keep walking. No 'free' gift is worth 3-5 hours of my vacation time.

Another tip - you can't take the luggage carts past the inner door of baggage claim. There are porters waiting there if you want assistance - don't be afraid to use them. They work solely for tips.
