  1. For some strange reason I cannot find where to fill out the online waivers for the flowrider or anything else for our upcoming cruise on board the Navigator (Sail date 4-30-16) not a big deal to go to the sports desk and do this it's just more convenient to have it out of the way.

Seek and you shall find and out of darkness, light.

  2. On the subject of vests, this brings about the difference between Queens English and Colonial phrasing.ImageUploadedByForums1459694988.944226.jpg.531473fd61faa25bfe269bee3f1139eb.jpg

Picture1 shows a a colonial (Australian) wearing his vest and formal headwear.

Whilst picture 2 clearly demonstrates the full vest and pants ( not to be confused with waistcoat and trousers as many US Colonials do.)

Either ensemble can be worn with a bow tie.

I do believe that either are acceptable on Carnival for formal or party nights.

  3. We prefer MTD but it always seems an imposition on the first night or on boarding to be able to secure a table for 2 around 7.30 to 8.00.

Never been forced to go to Main as we prefer to sit and dine together, if not available we go to either a speciality or windjammer.

The choices are there, nobody forces anybody.

Like to spend time in the D Lounge if there is room on the TA coming up suppose they will provide an overflow.

  4. My husband opts for a vest instead of a jacket on formal night. He was far more formal than many other diners.

Don't worry about the jacket. He will be fine without it.

Not a vest of the string variety one hopes. Possibly a waistcoat would be more appropriate.[emoji23][emoji28]

  5. Buy a urine recycling unit. Have a good booze up before going on board. Then as the time goes on if you recycle everything the resultant liquid will be so strong you might consider splashing out (excuse the pun) on a can or two of soda to water it down a bit. Enjoy your cheap skate cruise.

  6. Any feedback on the jogging track on the Indy? It looks like its up on 12 in basically all sun? True? Congested?

Any chance there's a way to run lower on like a promenade that goes all the way around even if it's not marked? Really don't want to drag sneakers if there's no really good place! Last time I ran up in the sun, I felt like I'd pass out and running 3 miles is like 1000 laps...

I can assure you that I wont be congesting the running track nor the gym equipment. I break out in a sweat walking anywhere near the gym.

  7. You are right Bob, but it purely for medicinal purposes you understand? It helps take the awful taste of that Fields and Select English Breakfast tea away.

We always carry our own supplies of tea now.

Yorkshire Builders, Tetley, PG and Liptons in that order for strength.

  8. I just booked the Liberty of the Seas for November, 2016. I find a lot more information on line regarding the Freedom. I know they are sister ships, but how similar or how different are they? I would just like to know if most of what I read about one would be similar or are they layouts the same, but the actual boat is very different?

    Thanks.

Boats are what you enter when the ship is sinking. A quite from one of the ships captains.

So probably the boats are approximately the same size whilst the ship dimensions vary greatly.

  9. Recently my parents had a special luncheon with ship's officers. They were only Diamond.

Why this special perk? On their cruise on the Legend of the Seas out of Singapore, there were only 10 Diamond members, 2 Diamond Plus and 2 Pinnacle members on board! We figured that the loyalty manager would have plenty of budget to splash on so few C&A Diamond and above members.

Needless to say, the D-Lounge was wonderful too. Never crowded.

Oh that must have been a memorable cruise with so few top tier cruisers. I bet they felt special. I have been told that there are Pinnacle cruisers that pre check the lists to determine whether or not they are the top cruiser so enabling them to get their bottle of plonk presented at the top tier get together.🎉😂

  10. Great news for Brits and visitors. A new cruise terminal has been approved at Greenwich London.

Hopefully to be fully functional in 2017.

Medium sized ships to be able to dock at the terminal,

Located along the Thames at Greenwich, in SE10, the terminal will soon be able to accommodate any ship that measures up to 230m (750ft) in length, with a maximum passenger capacity of 1,600.

Ships of this size include some Thomson Cruises and Holland America Line ships such as Ryndam and Veendam, but the terminal would not be able to fit a mega-ship, such as Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas, for example.

With the Mayor's support, it's expected to be in operation by 2017.

Looks like it would exclude most of Royals vessels, but a great opportunity to get a transatlantic right to my doorstep.

  11. Weighed in last night lost another 1.5lb. Was a little disappointed as we have both stuck rigidly to a 7 day plan and I mean by the book!

If you tell people this is the breakfast you can eat, they just don't believe you, everything is almost syn free.

Still the weight it is going the right way.

On our last cruise in the Diamond lounge we were able to drink without too many worries as the G & T,s were made with diet Tonic so only around 4 syns each.

    Enjoy your weekend.

  12. Weighed in last night and lost 2 and a half which gave me my 1 stone loss also as i had been consistent 2 and a half a week the slimmer of the week sticker and certificate too.

Must have been my day for awards as i received an email from cruise critic saying i was also review if the week too, for my review of my last cruise on Brilliance of the seas to the Baltic.

be careful with the nom plah sauce its very strong and the lemon grass should have added a lemony base to the sauce. I love Thai food and its very quick to make and delicious.

Someone in our group mentioned mackeral which are in season now they made up a salad using this fish with veggies etc and used it not only as a main course but also as a filler or snack food. The result minus 5.5lbs

We love the jerk chicken recipe from the SW magazine the marinade leaves the chicken so moist its a real treat and very moorish and free.

We haven't tried the Coka cola chicken but it seems to be way up there with favorite dishes.

  13. We colonials _are_ trying to better ourselves, glacially making progress. Mayhap in another century or two, we might be able to start being nominally acceptable in our betters' eyes. Oh, dear, but what if your sister wanted to _marry_ an American???? <just kidding!>:p

Yes that is a very daunting thought. I am grateful that i will never have to go through that agonizing ordeal, as i do not have a sister.

However im sure that there are many established organizations in existence, many undercover I suspect, that are there to guide or dissuade these errant young women from going down this somewhat treacherous path.

Although i think that should the young lady, on being introduced into the colonial circle, maybe invited for dinner or some other ceremony, that they would generally be put off possibly by the menu, or maybe the cutlery (flatware, silverware) that they would find, or in the manner in which they, the knife, fork and spoon are used or more generally ignored at table.

I refer to the ubiquitous use of the fork and the dagger like handling of the knife. For the most part the meat placed on the plate is already dead there is no need to repeat the slaughter process.

The ritualistic wearing of the baseball cap at the table, the overly loud conversations and the exhibition of the food whilst being masticated.

Whilst the British were banished from the shores of that particular colony as a result of tea tax, I'm sure that a British lady would be dismayed at having coffee thrust at her at every opportunity.

A cup of English Breakfast tea in the morning or at any time. Earl Grey is considered sophisticated by many colonials but is rarely taken by the populous of these fair isles. Considered more of a fancy scented drink, than a wholesome beverage. A little over the top with a custard cream biscuit. Or a Tunnocks wafer.

At around 4.30 tea time. I personally prefer a glass of Pimms No 1 or a stiff Gin and Tonic. Then taking an evening stroll in the grounds accompanied by the trusted hounds. Not by some miniature ball of fluff representing a rat on a stick which many colonial ladies seem to parade especially in towns about Florida.

Dont take any of the above seriously, just some observations and remember for all Brits our history began thousands of years ago and not as a result of a country banishing a group of religious fanatics to some far flung outpost across the Atlantic ocean.😎😎😎😎

  14. Personally I like indian food but I am posting to say that I am surprised that majority of the posters who replied seem to like it! Never knew Indian food is liked by so many.

Stand by for another surprise! Following a survey conducted nationally the following questions were posed as to peoples knowledge of ethnic dishes.

The Uk favorite dish was Tandoori Chicken Masala. Not roast beef and Yorkshire pudding as most predicted.

Americas favorite dish turned out to be Tupperware😇

I was recently on the Brilliance of the seas and one of the enterprising head waiters had organized an Indian lunch consisting of 5 courses which were cooked by the chef and served to all those present. I was pleased to see some colonials in the audience and they mostly enjoyed the experience. The recipes and prep instructions were delivered to the cabins the next day, best $15 we spent on the cruise.
