    This is still free.

    Delivery Choices:

OceanNow: one-time $14.95 fee and you can get food delivered anywhere on the ship *including* your cabin. It has it's own menu that is different from the Room service menu.
Room Service: Using the phone to order from the Room service menu is a $5 charge each time.
Breakfast Door Hanger: Free. Writing in other items sometimes works and sometimes does not.

    Thank you!

  2. I have a further question as I haven't sailed since Feb 2020.  i always use the door hanger for breakfast and add a few items on.

We are cruising soon and will not have any package.

I understand its $14.95 to activate the Medallion ordering of room service.  And if I'm understanding correctly food is no longer delivered to anywhere on the ship?  only your cabin?   is that correct?

Also, once I pay the $14.95 Medallion fee.... if I'm in my cabin and want to order room service using the cabin phone for a more customizable option, would i still be charged $5 per order? Or would that be waived since we paid the activation fee?

    Thank you in advance!

The most common name brand for waterproof outer layers is GoreTex - the material brand. It’s used by several very reputable outdoor clothing makers, but several also offer their own house-brand laminates that often work just as well.

For rain shells and pants, I’ve had good experience with several brands over the years: Outdoor Research, Mountain Hardwear, Patagonia, Columbia, LL Bean, Helly Hansen, Arcteryx, Bergans, Nøronna. For retailers carrying a variety of brands, off the top of my head I like BackCountry.com and MooseJaw.com

For wool, my favorite is Devold, followed by Helly Hansen. I recently got some sets from Ulvang and they seem to be pretty good, but they’re only one (fairly light) season in. I had a bad experience with an Alclima top deteriorating really quickly, but I don’t know if I just had a bad piece (don’t want to risk that much money on trying another item).

I just saw your very kind detailed reply!  Thank you so very much!!  I'm so nervous about this trip!

If there is an excursion to Vigur Island from Isafjordur and you are interested in nature, take it. Did this many years ago and it is one of my favorite memories from this area.

    Did you see Puffins?

I love Smartwool products.  I have several shirts in light to mid-weight, socks, a neck gaiter, and a hat.  Waterproof outer layers really just depend what you want.  I hike, so looked for ones that I can zip on over my boots so I don't have to take my boots off in a sudden downpour.  I also wanted light weight, as the ounces add up in a back pack.  My rain jacket is breathable, with vents under the arms.

My husband, on the other hand, golfs, and his rain gear is bulky and heavy, but he's fine with it as mostly it rides in his cart (he drags it out for trips also.)

REI and Moosejaw are two companies I like for outdoor gear and technical fabric items.  They have good online stores, and Moosejaw has free returns.

    Thank you!

Yeah, I found EZ Air to be the best Cruise Line reservation service, compared to HAL, RCCL, etc. The best feature is that I can book flights and if I need to change or move my cruise bookings my flights can be rebooked without paying extra if you do Flexible flights.

Yes I agree, And the prices are really good!

You need to go to the Princess website and log on to your booking. Review your flight reservations and click on modify flights. You will then be able to search for new flights and once you select them, you have an option to either accept or cancel. If you accept, then the flights will be rebooked and you should then get an updated itinerary with the revised flights.

Oh my gosh!  IT WORKED!!  thank you for talking me step by step through that!!   my first time with EZ air and i couldn't figure it out!   a couple hundred savings is great!   thank you again!!!

It seems like the OP asked this question twice on the forums. When I booked my flights with EZair, I book my flight out around 11 months in advance. The cost of the "Flexible" flight was then added to my cruise fare and was due at the same time as my final payment. I then monitor the cost of the flights over the next few months and actually rebooked my fights and ended up saving around $200 per person around two months before final payment. Post final payment, the flights actually went up in price, so I didn't need to rebook.

If OP didn't purchase the flight with Flexible option, then you will need to reach out to their TA or if they booked directly with Princess with their Princess Cruise Consultant and have them adjust the pricing difference, since they paid ahead of the final payment (which is why you should always pick Flexible, which avoids this situation).

I'm a couple months out and see my flights  ive booked with EZ air have dropped a couple hundred dollars. im going to pay for the flights at final payment.  I'm working with a TA for the cruise portion but booked EZ air myself.   my question is, how do i re book for the cheaper air?  i can't find a way on Princess website.   thank you!    dont mean to hijack!  i reserved flex fare.

Beware of old information, routes were re-jigged some little while back.

For buses from LHR to Southampton final destination now is PORTSMOUTH (The Hard)

Route number 203 (which is also shown on the destination board)

It's the same bus from Heathrow for cruises out of Portsmouth

    JB 🙂

Thank you so very much!!     planning our first trip to Europe and so much info to research!!

We took the National Express Coach.  Was easy once we figured out that the bus says what the LAST stop is and doesn't say Southampton.   We each had a wheeled suitcase and backpack.

Can you please tell me what the last stop is so i know I'm on the right one?

Used it on the Emerald and food was delivered on time.  But I found it just as quick to order it by phone and had it delivered right away.  Be sure to specify quantity.  I thought I did (2 of this...) but sometimes got 2 of everything.  Fruit was limited to orange wedges, melon, and/or banana.

Thank you!  i will specify for sure!

You can also preorder and set a delivery time on the app for the following day..  however, the execution on that was a big miss.  I ordered my breakfast at midnight to be delivered at 7 am the following day.  I got woken up at 1:15 in the morning by the delivery person.  I made sure to let guest services know that was unappreciated.

Wow that sucks!   that's another app problem i haven't heard about until now!

  13. Hi all!    Our upcoming Discovery cruise to Alaska will be my first cruise since March 2020.

I'm reading all kinds of problems with ordering room service through the Medallion and even calling direct.

soooo.... my question is, do they still have the breakfast menu cards that you can select your items and hang the card outside your cabin on the door handle?

I've never had a problem using those and adding a few extra items.😄

    Thank you in advance!!

As I mentioned in a previous installment, one of our party attended the fine wine tasting. Here is a photo from that event. As noted, they ran out of the "fine" hors d'oeuvres and provided some lesser substitutes and a pass to the regular wine tasting.

Tomorrow I will load the Princess Patters for the week.

Cheers and happy sailing to everyone!

Thank you do much for all this information and great review!    we will be on the Discovery in just a couple weeks!!

By any chance do you have any photos of the dinner menus from the dining rooms?   thank you!
