Everything got kinds shifted with the Irma evacuation. The Conquest will be doing a few days of wetdock before moving to dry.

At Roatan there is a place called Daniels Sloth hangout... you can contact by Facebook. For $20 pp they will pick you up just outside the port and he has a sloth and monkey rescue where you can hold a sloth and hangout with monkeys. They can take you to a beach afterwards or back to the port beach.

It was explained to me one time that port charges are paid in foreign currency at the time of cruising. So based on exchange rates etc... they change. Because these are taxes paid directly to the govt by the passengers (CCL is just the facilitator) and are estimated, if there is a difference they are refunded.

Mods, not sure why moved? Seems to be a relevant and news making topic that many are awaiting info on for their immediate cruise planning. The place where it was moved is not easily located... I would guess if people don't find this thread, there will be several new ones popping up as info is given?

I'm scheduled to go on the 5th (Thursday) and personally I'm no at all concerned... all the targets worked at the Embassy (they family effected was staying at the hotel and was Embassy staff... I think the whole dire warnings are waaayyy overblown.... however, with that being said, I know many are now frightened by this so they should be given the option to cancel... but without any evidence that tourists visiting were in any way targeted, I think it is just silly.... but IF CCL does allow for cancellations, I am hoping for a less crowded ship (which I will be going regardless) ...

There are travel warnings for May destinations (Mexico, Nassau, Jamaica) so I don't anticipate the cruise lines will cancel. I am on the Paradise leaving Thursday so I hope they don't. These sonic "attacks" were targeted at embassy personnel over a long period of exposure... I'm not nervous as no "tourists" were targeted.

They say HMC is open and receiving ships :)
Alas, they have already changed our cruise from Eastern to a Western :-(
-
I say file now... so you can come home to $$$$ ... alas as a Florida resident I can't purchase :-( I was on a cruise with friends who are from Louisiana and they got $$$ when we skipped Half Moon Cay, me... I still have not gone! I am scheduled on the Glory in October which was supposed to go there.... guess I better plan another time!

I would love to see the check-in agent's face if both couples check in at the same time! :p
"Oh, so Mr. Smith is sharing the cabin with Mrs. Jones, and Mr. Jones is sharing with Mrs. Smith? Have a great cruise!"
I think They see it all the time! When we did it once they did not even bat an eye...

As I said, i have a hunch Splendor will not be transferring to P&O (Princess) but will probably do something over there (Miracle sub)... it just doesent have the "bones" to be transformed into a ship, that would fit their market... again, IMO

You put a credit card for your charges, the person you share cabin with will put their S&s with their credit card.... in the other cabin, your husband will put his account on a credit card (can be the same credit card # as yours) and the person he shares a cabin with will put their account on a credit card... each account is individual... I know you usually check in using one credit card for you and your husband... this time just put yourself on a card, your husband on a card and each guest on their own card... hope that helps
-
Link each individual to a specific card (can do on online check in) and do not allow charging rights to the other person in the cabin (each person charges go to specific card like you would do with friends in same cabin). Then go guest services and get a cabin key (this will only be used for cabin entry). You will have to carry 2 cards.

I would say the Alchemy bar can make it, but they are not open in the morning... perhaps you can get one the night before and keep in container to take to breakfast? The marischino liquor would not be kept at the AM bars...
-
I would not bet my money on the Splendor going away... perhaps operating outside of USA somewhere but despite all the announcements about being sold to P&O, I really don't see that ship fitting into the Princess lineup... plus the softening of the China market and major differences in the China market... I just don't see them getting rid of it IMO

Reduced rates generally apply to Friends/Family/Employee rates and casino free cabin offers and f you are using a voucher for like 50% off future cruise certificate. Not Travel agent group discount rates...

If you have cheers... I highly suggest... it gets you served much faster... I tip extra... I like big pours and quick attentive service, a buck here/there tends to get me that!!!

I was always afraid if I waited till late, "what if" something happened ate the last minute and I missed the ship... a psychological thing I'm sure. However, as of late I have discovered the joy of getting there after 1-1:30... terminal is empty, walk right onboard to room (even though I'm Platinum and can do that anyway) and then go to Lido, by 2 pm lines are shorter for food since everyone is just then getting in cabins.... but that nagging "what if something happens and I miss ship" doubts usually keep me from actually getting there late....

Offsite parking in Miami is kinda sketchy.... IMO... I always prefer to pay for port parking...

Sorry, I was going to add some pics of cabin 2268, however I cannot seem to find a program to do it... seems Ohotobucket no longer has a free option, imagur does not process and I have subscription to Smugmug but that will not work either... so I give up on posting pics to this site... sigh!

So I got word the Fascination was able to stop in San Juan ONLY to disembark PR residents returning home (like 550 or so pax) from noon till 5 PM... they are now heading to Miami for arrival Tuesday...
-
Used to love Big Tex back in the day!
-
As many speculated... so far 3 cruises cancelled and Miami based until further notice.... stinks for those booked but understandable under the circumstances. I hope they are able to disembark the PR residents on the ship so they can get home to assess situations!

I can only assume the logistics folks are working diligently on figuring out where to port/provision/itinerary issues... I believe they want to make sure they have a viable plan before announcing it, otherwise it could cause even more confusion. There is more to it than just announcing a plan, there are port schedules, port capacity/manning, resupply issues, government clearances, transportation etc.... I would think common sense would dictate that porting on Saturday in San Juan is a no-go (unless it is for dropping off PR residents) then going on to another safe port so others can disembark (and coordinating transportation)... I will hope they will announce firm plans by this afternoon...

As long as they aren't too annoying, otherwise I don't really notice...
