  1. We haven`t been on the breakaway but whichever ncl ship we have been on my husband has been able to watch most of the games he wanted to see at some point . By that i mean it may have been a day or so later as a repeat but he usually knows what`s happening live as there`s always somebody in o`sheehans who is getting live emails with the scores from home . Sorry i can`t be anymore help to you , my husband is a big football fan ( not saying which team because that will start another row ) but he can usually get his footie fix whilst away , enjoy your cruise and good luck with the match x

  2. We went to Garden Cafe for the buffet and found plenty of empty tables. certainly not the "zoo" as suggested by June

Everyone have their own personal favourite places to eat . Our choice is to eat somewhere quiet and be served rather than go to the buffet restaurant .

  3. Sorry for offending those easily offended by my "brick" comment. Ofcourse you can use your iPhone in Airplane mode but not as a phone.

Its important people understand that Airplane mode does not JUST turn off your data connection. It turns off your cellular connection. Airplane mode = No Phone Calls, No Texting.

And you have to be sure to turn WiFi back on if you want to use it.

Many people want to keep their phone on as a phone in case of emergency.

Also, you dont get charged for incoming texts (since you cant control if someone sends you 100 texts)..at least no respectable carrier that I know of charges.

So to recap, if you only want Wifi (including iConceriage) and are somewhat smart phone illiterate, just place into Airplane mode.

But if you want to continue to be able to send/receive texts (such as back home) and be able to receive phone calls (perhaps in the event of an emergency back home), then just turn off Data Connections.

A MASSIVE BIG THANK YOU for explaining so well what to do with my iphone whilst away . I have only recently switched over to iphone and your posts have helped me tremendously as i was very unsure of what needed to do before i board the ship , would hate to come back home to a HUGE phone bill !!! . Like someone else posted i am going to print off this info and take it with me . Thank you once again x

  4. My son will be 11 on our upcoming cruise and since it will be his 6th cruise, I'm worried that he will be bored with the kids club. I'm thinking he's still too young for us to just set him free on the ship (and I haven't even brought this up to my overprotective wife yet ), but it made me wonder how old kids usually are when their parents are comfortable doing this.

My husband is 60 and i still can`t let HIM roam free , he`s got a terrible sense of direction and gets totally lost on board ship . :D:D:D

  5. We`ve had 4 cruise cancelled on us 2 in Europe ( Jade and Epic ) and 2 across the pond ( pearl and Jewel ) . We tend to book really early so we half expect some changes . We`ve always done ok when we have rearranged our bookings .

As for flights we tend to book around 10 months out to get best prices , if a cruise gets cancelled we work around it .

  6. Dollar bills work great. What I do is fold them up and hold on to them underneath my key card. When the bartender takes my card he/she feels the bills and then indiscreetly slides the bills into their pant pocket. I then will receive back a nod of their head and a smile along with supurb service for the entire cruise.

    we always do this ;)

  7. From Rome,Italy to Barcelona, Spain. Almost completely different itinerary. What do NCL offer me? $50 OBC.

Just rebooked flights at a cost of £350/$425

Shocking that they can do this.

Sorry to hear this has happened to you but NCL normally offer to reimburse flight change costs up to £200 per person .I would phone and ask about this as it has happened to us a few times and NCL have always paid us the difference . Fingers crossed for you x

  8. June 123 I just looked at our passports. My husband has 4 US entry stamps and mine has 2. Neither passport has any exit markings. We travel from the UK on ESTA. I am shown as entering at Dallas on 20 Jan 2016 and again entering at Dallas on 27 April 2016. Clearly the immigration computer was aware that I left in Feb 2016 as no one questioned my re-entry at Dallas in April. On both of those visits I was on an NCL cruise during part of my trip and spent some time in the US too. When I checked in for those 2 cruises I wasn't asked to show my paper ESTA nor did I notice any scrutiny of my documents. I am now wondering if something has changed in the NCL procedure.

thank you for trying to help but your passports were stamp on entry . it now looks like not all airports in the us are stamping the passports on entry .if this i the case then it could cause a problem when checking in for the cruise .

  9. I checked my Canadian passport and there is a stamp from the United States when we flew to Orlando this past March including an expiry.

My passport wasn't stamped when we arrived back into Canada nor was it stamped by the US or Canada when we presented at the respective borders when traveling by ground.

There seems to be a lack of consistency regarding usage of the electronic system.

I am concerned about NCL giving us issues when we cruise from NYC in March due to the lack of stamp when returning to Canada. We will be driving and don't foresee any issues at the border as we went to the US last week by ground without any problems, however, I am wondering if NCL is

able to access the electronic database for passports (was it specifically an ESTA issue).

i`m worried as we will be sailing on 25th march but only returned to uk on 15th December and the stamp in our passports says we have to leave the us by 2nd March . we have nothing in our passports showing we left the us in December . i`m concerned NCL are going to think we stayed in the us and not let aboard . We both have about 5 years left in our passports but we may have to replace them rather than not be allowed on our cruise .

  10. If you really had following this thread, you'd know that since the introduction of the passport/immigration self-service computer kiosks (already present on some airports in Florida, for example) all passports are no longer stamped on entry even though it did happen every time before.

i`ve just come back from los Angeles left us and then reentered in Las Vegas and BOTH TIMES used a self serve kiosk and still had my passport stamped .
