  1. I'm so disappointed to hear about the slow service you are getting in CO dining room. We were there in December and it was very good service- obviously a different crew now. I know they took some staff from all the dining rooms including CO for the second leg of our 19 day cruise, which was the 7 days just before Christmas, because the Lido buffet was far busier than they expected. Not sure if that holds for your cruise. But we still had good service.

He did remind us to put our clocks back ½ hour, which we knew was coming.   It is one of those few places where we do the ½ hour, and once we leave Sri Lanka, we will put the clocks back another ½ hour.    There is another place in the world we have done this, but we cannot seem to recall where that was.

    Newfoundland or Nuku Hiva?

Wise call. I saw the same thing on the Rotterdam. Tamarind was not available on April 3rd.

Sure enough, Morimoto appeared as bookable. We were able to score a 7 pm slot. The 7 o'clock time filled rather quickly. Fortunately, there are quite a few other times available.

Morimoto is not covered by Have It All, so it probably won't fill up as fast.

There aren't many specialty dining choices on Noordam so I thought adding Morimoto would make it more interesting! We had already booked our specialty reservations so I had to do some juggling to accommodate Morimoto, but fortunately caught it early enough to get timeslots we like for all. Plus a few Pinnacle lunches should round it out nicely.

I tried the surcharge Morimoto lobster and XO halibut on Rotterdam this past December and enjoyed both of them, so look forward to trying a full Morimoto menu. Any wine recommendations?? It will definitely be seafood! I will look forward to your own cruise commentary!
  4. Morimoto by Sea pop-up just appeared as a dining option when I checked my booking today, so I made a reservation.  It is offered twice on our 14 night Noordam cruise end of May. I assume it will be in Pinnacle because there are no timeslots available for Pinnacle on those nights (days 6 & 12).

  5. So far, I have ordered some Paula's Choice from the US and once it arrives, I'll have to wait for a warm enough day to arrive to test it out! I should be able to get LaRoche Posay locally, that's next on my list. Plus now I can add Shiseido to the list if necessary! It's been great to get some recommendations and I hope to be able to report back with some good updates!

ps nice looking hat! I do have one I like but more is better! Also have some good sunglasses plus prescription ones.

  6. Longest we ever waited was 40 minutes, it was on the first night about 1/2 hr after opening. We have had CO 3 times so far, and this wait was unusual. If full, The host will take your name and come get you. There are tables and chairs along the windows just opposite the CO. Also the Half Moon Bar is only a few steps from the CO entrance, and the Ocean Bar is just around the corner.

I use the Paula's Choice "Youth Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50" (stupid name, but great product.) It's light (truly fluid), melts into my skin, and despite being super-oily on my face, I forget that I'm wearing it. It's unscented (I'm super sensitive to scent), and works really well. During my Panama Canal cruise a month ago, I got a horrid sunburn on my back (areas that I couldn't apply sunscreen to, travelling solo), but my face stayed sunburn, even tan, free.

I do know the feeling that you mean, though - one of the other PC sunscreens gives me that feeling. Sephora is now carrying some PC products (but not this one, I don't think), but PC does ship to Canada.

Thank you for this- I'm not familiar with that brand so I'll add it to the list of ones to try!

  8.  I have tried so many brands of sunscreen for the face that I end up not using more than once- an expensive venture! Lotion, spray, powder, mineral, non-mineral, tinted, non-tinted, lightweight,  the works.

In warm and hot weather, my face gets so hot and sweaty with sunscreen on. It feels like the film of lotion chokes off the skin and it cannot breathe. Like I have saran wrap on my face.  I get so uncomfortable that I have to wash it off. The rest of me is fine, just the face! Has anyone had this problem and solved it somehow? Do I need a layer of something under the sunscreen or would that just make it worse? I have taken to just wearing hats but I don't think that is enough protection. This is the only thing I don't like about Caribbean cruises!!

For a long time, the stewards had paper "eyes" that they put on the animals. Now that HAL is minimizing excess paper to save the environment (yes, yes, I know about the spa and jewelry promo fliers), they don't give the animals eyes any more.

I don't know if things have changed for all ships or occasions, but we did get this little darling on Rotterdam in December with eyes and nose intact!!
