  1. M/S Emelie I and II are not included in SL's travel cards.
Regarding HoBo boats in the morning it is not mentioned on Strömma website, However Red Sightseeing says on their website that they start operating early when there is a cruise ship in town, not sure though if it is boat and buses or only buses.

Do you stop at the Cruise Terminal?

Yes, we always meet the cruise ships upon arrival in the morning and all buses operate the port as part of the regular route all day as long as a cruise ship is docked

My cruise calls earlier than you start operating, will you have earlier departures?

Yes, we will start our operation upon the arrival of the cruise ship (no earlier than 8 am)

You don’t need reservation for ferry but I do need to buy abba tickets ahead of time??

While it's not strictly mandatory, it is still recommended as a guarantee that you will be able to enter at a certain time. If you don't buy tickets ahead you risk having to wait and might not make it in in time for you to return to your ship before it leaves.

  3. A hoho bus would be a good choice to see Gothenburg, however it won't necessary go the fastest route between the things you want to see. Have in mind that Gothenburg have a very extensive public transport network with trams, buses and harbour ferries and might be faster to use public transport.

So if we dock at Stadsgarden like I have been informed, we won’t need to get over to Slussen on Gamla Stan?

That is correct. Both ferries use the same berth over at Djurgården, however the one departing from Slussen have a higher departure frequency (like every 10 minutes, depending on season and time of day) while the one from Stadsgarden is only 1-2 times/hour.

  5. There is a second ferry company that does stop at the Masthamnen/Stadsgården quay but summer time tables aren't available yet. You can however check this website at the end of April to see summer time tables. https://ressel.se/en/emelie-traffic/

It will drop you off very close to Abba/Vasa/Nordiska museet.

    "Is the ferry accessible?

Our boarding bridge takes both wheelchairs and permobiles without problems. We also always have a deck attendant to assist with embarking and disembarking. The thresholds on the main deck are only a few centimetres high and well chamfered so the main deck is fully accessible."

Does anyone have a rough idea of how much a taxi would cost from the cruise terminal in Stockholm to the ABBA museum.  I have looked at using public transport, but it looks to difficult considering my mobility problems?

Depends on where your ship berths and which day your ship is in town, but lets say maybe around 300-400 SEK if your ship berths in central Stockholm and about 4-5 times that if your ship berths at Nynäshamn.

  7. March (depending on when in March) is borderline late to see northern lights.
As for North to south or south to north - the further north you go the greater the chance to see northern lights. However there are other factors (out of your control) such as solar activity and weather that in the end will be de deciding factor as to if you will see northern lights or not.

Looking for hotel recommendations in Stockholm.  Will be disembarking cruise and staying one night. TIA.

Depends on your budget but three suggestions:

Radisson Blu Royal Viking 4 star hotel next to central station.

Sheraton, 4 star hotel a few hundred meters from central station,

Scandic Klara, a 3 star hotel but imo still not that far behind on standard from 4-star hotels. Also close to central station.

Villa Copenhagen is an outstanding hotel - after you have dropped luggage at hotel I suggest lunch Tivoli Food Hall (outside Tivoli Garden - No entrance fee)  almost across the street from the hotel - just opposite Copenhagen Central.

regarding museums - two very different options - my favorite is the Danish War Museum.
At Gimle there is Restaurant the Raven link to menu card. Expect at least 45 for transport from Central Station to Gimle

    Enjoy Copenhagen and Roskilde.

Thanks, hotel booked, was a bit surprised to see that breakfast was not included (used to staying on Swedish hotels where it's included). Anyway train tickets are not on sale yet, but I don't think there will much changed to current time table.  Can either leave at  06 and arrive at 11.25 or at 08 and arrive at 13.25 Haven't decided which train to go back on, but will probably leave around 14 or 15 in the afternoon.

  10. While public transport is somewhat available on a normal day (but requires pre-order by phone and requires you to change ) , I think shuttles would make most sense here, unless there are special departures for public transport when a cruise ship is at Arendal. Quay is about 12 km outside the city center.

However someone who has recently been there might give you a better answer.

Train from Copenhagen H to Roskilde is 30 minutes - Price DKK 66 (8 zones) one way.

Train every 20 minutes - also late evening - a train every hour aften 1 am.
Train service between Copenhagen and Roskilde is very reliable. Ticket vending machines at the stations - credit card accepted.

Many museums - any specific interest? Once you start detail planning post your date (Guessing 12 and 13 January) as well as interests.

I will be arriving by train on Friday afternoon (don't exactly when since SJ hasn't released the tickets for the winter yet), but probably around 12.00 sometime and leave Sunday afternoon (it's a two night event and starts at 15.00). Plan is to drop off suit case at hotel, grab some food and head to Roskilde.

Have starting to look at hotels, but almost every hotel in vicinity of the central seems to have very mixed reviews. However I am currently leaning towards Villa Copenhagen. Opinion?

Needs to be close to the station.

As for museums, I was thinking Museum of Copenhagen and The Danish War Museum.
Probably only have time to do one on Saturday and one on Sunday.

Also need to sort out lunch for all three days. Event is at Gimle - Tanken, seems to be a café at the arena. Not sure if food is available during the festival concerts.

I am sailing on the Nieuw Statendam next May to the Baltics.  Can I assume the Scandinavian countries use Euros vs. their own?

    Thanks,

Nope. Some places might, but no guarantee if cash is accepted at all (many places don't accept cash) also as mentioned Scandinavia + Finland are more or less cash less. Card or mobile payments are used.

  13. So @hallasm, I have a question about trains in Copenhagen area. I'm thinking of going to Copenhagen in January for a two day music event in Roskilde. How frequent are the trains between Copenhagen H and Roskilde and the opposite direction late at night (like 23.30) Friday and Saturday evening in mid January and how is the reliability? Dont want to get stuck in Roskilde since I plan to stay in Copenhagen. Anything else that would be of importance to know? Need something to do on Saturday as well during the day (preferable indoors).Nothing is booked yet though.

  14. Distance from Sheraton to Centralstationen is about 300 m (basically just across the street).

Tram 7 departs from Klarabergsviadukten (opposite of Åhléns). It's destination sign will say Valdermarsudde.

Also a note on the amusement park. There was a fatal accident with one of the roller coasters about two weeks prior to your visit. The park was closed for about a week after the accident.

Thanks.   I was hoping HoHo would give a ticket with its own time stamp.  It might still be worth it for one day though as Stockholm is fourth port day in a row and it would be nice to have an alternative.to our usual marathon walk.

IMO, HoHo buses in Stockholm are a very poor way of getting around. Doesn't go where you want to go in the order you want to go there and might take detours going there.

Spend you money on a regular 24 hour SL travel card instead. Like you you desire it will be valid from first use and not purchase. Public transport is the easiest way to get around when you don't want to walk. There are buses, trams, subway and commuter/harbour ferries.

  16. Forgot to say that once you get off the ferry at Djurgården just go straight ahead for like 150 meters and then take a left.

If you look at the link below (Street view) there is a signpost just to the left of the tree. It will show you the way to Vasa.

Just s warning though, during the short walk to Vasa you will pass several museums, but dont let them distract you as you wont have time to do them. 😉
