  1. Back on Celebrity after a 10 year hiatus - couple of questions:

Is there a daily price for wifi?

If not, and I need to purchase the basic package - do both people in the cabin need to purchase the wifi package?

Lastly, if I do purchase now, can I cancel if I do so 3 days before sailing?

    Thanks

  2. I will add my disappointment to the previous comments - you are not missing anything! The movie was not even B level - I thought to myself - is this the best they can do? - I gave it very low ratings on our comment sheet when we were on Orion in Alaska.  The rest of the cruise was wonderful! Headed back out on the Sky in less than two weeks.

  3. Okay, thanks!  So what I gather from your info is to stay in the downtown area - see the sights, have dinner and deal with the airport (international) in the morning.

So some quick help with hotel - easy location - something nice - it will kind of be a drop and run, sleep and go- LOL!  One that I am considering is Hotel Blu Vancouver.  Pricing on some of the others are quite high as we are looking for 1 nite in early July.

  4. Hi, we will be getting off our ship early am and have an 8:45am flight the following morning.  Here are my questions:

Stay near the port (downtown) area and drop off our luggage at the hotel -  Spend the day sightseeing etc, have dinner downtown area and figure out the best way to the airport in the morning?

Other option - drop off our luggage at a storage place - pick it up after a day of sightseeing and maybe dinner and reserve a hotel near the airport?

Would appreciate any thoughts or helpful hints.

  5. Okay Marinaro44, I am counting on you! LOL!

I just reserved cabins 126 & 127 on the Pride - which hopefully will have a walk in shower and 2 sinks! Reserved cruise for late December and since you will be in that cabin Aug/Sept I am hoping that once aboard you will have a moment to confirm those 2 cabins for me. I will either be a happy camper (sailor) or try to switch our cabins!

  6. Okay, we decided and will be moving forward with the cruise that visits Pigeon Island - remembering that on our last cruise on the day scheduled for Prickly Pear it was cancelled due to bad seas. I agree Pigeon Island is not a great beach - just looking for a nice shaded spot - good food and tables to eat at, which is what I think Prickly Pear covers. To be honest - give us some good weather - put us on the deck where we can find some shade and we are happy!

  7. Hi, we have been on numerous Windstar cruises and tend to stay away from cruises that visit Pigeon Island as comparted to Prickly Pear. However this time due to other factors this itineary fits best. Here are a couple of issues and wondering if any changes have been made: no shade unless you get there first and get a spot by the trees, then when others arrive you are jammed in sooo tight it is not comfortable. Second is the lack of eating area for your lunch, juggling everything on your beach chair (that's where the jammed in situation gets to me) ;p

So wondering if there have been any upgrades?

  8. Thanks so much Sleep7 - great review and it brought back some wonderful memories of our Viking Normandy cruise 2 years ago. We were lucky that we were one of the last few cruises where the boat was docked in Paris. I would think that it would make a big difference - we were able to walk or take a quick cab ride to the Eiffel tower. In fact either the first or second night we had dinner in the Eiffel tower which only made this trip more memorable! :)

  9. Hi All, working on this Viking cruise for spring 2018, just not sure which direction to take. Not that interested in visiting Paris (been there 4 times in last few years). Any thoughts whether starting in Avignon or Lyon would be better, we would like to spend a few days at the beginning of our trip rather than after, we love the small towns, scenery, nice restuarants etc. Thanks!

  10. We decided to go for it! We are doing Seward to Vancouver as the date works a little better and we figured we will get the most difficult part over first and have time to recover rather than have a long return home. Not sure which way will work out better - a little bit of a shot in the dark.

Hopefully it will all be worth it!

Many categories are already sold out on all the dates so we figured we had to make a decision while we have options.

  11. Flagirl13, would you please explain to me the reason you are going Vancouver to Seward - you said from Seward to Anchorage is 3 hours by bus to fly home. Is that better or worse than ending up in Vancouver. I would think that you will have to deal with the 3 hour bus ride either at the beginning or at the end - or am I missing something. (which would not be the first time) LOL!

  12. Flagirl13, or anyone else - did your travel agent give you any hints as to which side of the ship for your cabin choice- of course it makes a difference from which way you choose your itinerary.

  13. I know that this is a new itinerary for Viking Ocean Cruises so it's a little bit of taking a leap of faith.

We just came back from the Viking Rhine cruise which we loved and I get this idea to do an Alaskan cruise.

We have been thinking about a cruise to Alaska for a while and wondering if this is the one for us. We do prefer smaller ships - can't deal anymore with the major cruise lines - the masses - the waits etc. We have done many Windstar cruises which we love for the size, however Viking does cruising better with the excursions and many other things.

While looking at the options for 2019 - I see that many categories are sold out - so now I'm thinking that it may be a very good idea. However, I do wonder since Viking has never been there - will they do it right - should we consider another line that has more experience? We are currently holding a cabin till Friday so would appreciate any feedback to help us make our decision.

  14. We got off the Legend on Saturday (1/14) after 3 nights of rough seas. This was our 6th Caribbean cruise - 2nd on the Legend and 4 on Wind Surf every cruise just about the same week. We never hit such rough seas before. Our nights were rather uncomfortable - kind of a roller coaster ride gone bad! The last night of the cruise dining room was pretty empty and heard that Room Service was slammed. We did not have our beach barbecue which was a disappointment. Spoke to a couple of officers and we were told that they were expecting rough seas for the next week or so.

Still in love with Windstar, however, we got a dose of mother nature and her sassy side!
