  1. I overheard at dinner that apparently her absence was first noticed at about 3 AM, so I guess that must be true. I'm surprised that I didn't hear the Captain paging for her until after 6.

No word onboard about a body having been recovered. I know that we did not stop to recover anything.

Someone on the Feb post is onboard too and they mentioned an announcement at 4am. Either way, terribly sad for everyone. I hope that you all enjoy the remainder the trip.

  2. We have sailed in balcony, inside and ocean view rooms and although I'd say I love the outside space of a balcony cost can be prohibitive. We did a two week med cruise on deck 1 of QV ocean view and loved it. Being able to have daylight and see where we were was fantastic (the bits of being inside that I miss). It was a light and decent sized room- just like a balcony room but without the balcony i.e. Sofa and bed.

  3. We were on this trip too and loved it! I agree with everything said so far! We booked our own trip to the north cape and it was half the price of the ship tour. Others on the ship mentioned that they took a taxi there - and the same cost as our trip. They had to, however, pay the entrance fee for the cape which I'm told was extortionate.

Thank you, Cynthia, for the comment about the children - we had our two boys who are 11 & 14. They loved the kids clubs. We were also impressed with the other children on board. At Easter we were (child free) on Ventura and found the children to be loud and intrusive.

Post cruise blues are setting in!

  4. Surprisingly, there are actually more like 300 children on board although you wouldn't know it. We've always been surprised in the past at the high numbers they report on children yet never knowing where they are. I've assumed they are all in the clubs. However, having our children with us for the first time and with them using the (excellent) 'kids' clubs, we have found that actually less than 10% use them at any one time. 30 or so in the 8-12 group and about 20 in the teen lounge. As teachers, we are sensitive to child antics yet they've been no trouble!

  5. We are loving this trip. As a family of 4 we are even enjoying our inside quad room and have settled into a lovely routine & habits! We are impressed with the amount that goes on around the ship even in port days. We had less on offer on P&O at Easter even with 3 sea days to the canaries! Looking forward to a trip the the north cape today.

  6. We are onboard too and loving it. We have sailed on Cunard a number of times, P&O 3 times and this is our first time on princess. It's great...busy, but great. There are a number of small differences to P&O especially that we enjoy. As we have our children with us (another first) it suits much better than I think Cunard would.

Even the rain in Stavanger isn't dampening our spirits!

  7. We are on emerald- during the night we had 'lumpy' seas as the captain insists on calling it. It wasn't too bad actually. There was no need for announcements about holding on to rails & staying safe. Our last trip was in 'storm katie' at Easter. Last night was nothing compared to that! Phew!

  8. First time on Emerald Princess, we are avid ballroom & rock n roll dancers, are there any good dance floors on this ship to dance?

I see there's a disco, but as on other cruises, find this is only usually for techno, jumping around type dancing.....unless they do a 50's or 60's theme night.

QM2 had the biggest best ballroom on any ship we've been on, but even in our late 50's early 60's we are way too young to ever go on that ship again

You can't beat Cunard for dance floors! I'd disagree with the age issue though as we are early 40's and felt very comfortable on board (and we are young at heart, not fuddy duddies!)

  9. The ship traffic site will be correct - I just looked at M traffic which shows Azura heading up the North Sea. Webcams are not always reliable.

And I've just looked at ship mate deck cams. It's showing Azura at sea now. Doesn't look too rough!!

  10. Does anyone know why the P and O webcam shows Azura still in Port (Southampton?), and ship tracking website shows heading for Norway somewhere in the North Sea. Have they forgotten to turn the web cam on??
