We did South America last year on the Royal Princess.
Apologies for resurrecting this old thread - @Kiwi_cruiser if you booked via the NZ Princess site, were gratuities added onboard for the SA sailing?
(I haven’t sailed with Princess before, and RCI still includes gratuities in non-Australian cruise fares booked via the Aus site).
thanks heaps!

Can I just say “Manly Beach” is the most Australian-sounding place ever 🙂Of course you can 🙂
It does have an excellent brewery.........

Never sailed on RCI, but whenever I've gone in other lines' VIP lounges for b'fast, drinks, or snacks, I've felt like I was in a library or drinking in my hotel room. Very quiet. People who came in together are sitting together -- and pretty much whispering to one another. No clear interaction among unrelated pax. So, regardless of my access to the lounges, I avoid them.
For many of my past cruises the D lounge has been very fun (sometimes wild!), occasionally it can be lame. Depends on the other guests. However, apart from coffee or breakfast, I probably won’t go in there much if no free booze 😁, so will miss out on meeting any LMPs 😜
Although by the time Australians are allowed to cruise the new vouchers might have changed again anyway 😢

I hear where you are coming from.
Im sick of road trips and weekends in Sydney but I don’t want to go planning something and get let down at the last minute.
A couple of domestic cruises would cure the cabin fever.
Totally agree!
I have 2 weeks in Nth QLD in August, which sounds lovely but not compared to the fantastic Singapore-Seattle B2B I was supposed to take in April-May.

I've been on CC sporadically that last few months. My wife would always record our trips in a good, old fashion paper book diary. For our own memories sake. I take these diaries to her bedside and read them to her. Her words in her handwriting. Yesterday, it was about some of our cruising adventures, hence I find myself back here, reading BirdTravels time on AOS.
Lovely idea to read her diaries to her HBE4, nice to hear from you and sending positive thoughts your way for recovery.- 7

Great news.
When do you get your second vaccine jab?
Hopefully 3-4 weeks and not the 11 weeks we waited for our second vaccine jabs.
4 weeks (Pfizer) for both my husband and I. Mum & Dad had Astra and their wait is 12 weeks too.My brother lives in Bristol and he and his fiancé have had their first dose too, I am so relieved my family will be all protected!

I just wanted to chime in on that statement. The last time we were on an RCI ship in 2019, we couldn't even get into the WJ for breakfast or lunch because of long lines. We had dinners in MDR and stopped by WJ afterwards to look - we were not impressed at all. And before that, the last time we were on an RCI ship was in 2014, so - NO, I don't remember or recognize any of the WJ food items, despite being on several RCI cruises
Hope you give it another chance, some of the themed WJ dinners are excellent.4 hours ago, jk04 said:One difference is that you are not starting thread after thread bashing RCL food and services. The food may not have been to your liking or that memorable and that is fine, everyone has their own opinion. Even the same ship, cruise to cruise, the food can differ.
^this, we are tired of being trolled- 4

That's the D+ box of chocolates mentioned earlier. Might need to reset my choices. They make great gifts
That is them! Must have been an extra treat, our D+ gift is definitely set on wine 😁- 1
