  1. A Celiac diagnosis after 50 comes as a shock, it happened to me too. Something to double check on cruises are the shampoos, soaps, conditioners, and even toothpaste can contain gluten. I have a severe response to being glutened so I have to be very careful. Ask about pasta water! In any of the Italian restaurants GF pasta may be used, but then the pasta is cooked in the same water as regular pasta. Any toasted bread, ask if it is toasted in the same toaster as regular bread, the cross-contamination is the most problematic. Many times the bread can be toasted in a pan or safe cooktop.
