  1. I decided to purchase the WiFi while I'm on the plane. That way it can at least keep my mind occupied. I believe it's to be about $20...Not too bad. I don't think. LOL! My flight is only about 2 hours...And I could possibly see myself giving my seat up for someone. That's the type of person I am and considering I'm solo it makes more sense. I would be worried that my luggage would DEFINIETLY not make it to me. Lol! I know that if I have questions all I have to do is ask for help. But here in Atlanta the employees are so rude. Or is that every airport? Lol

Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart for your kind words and encouragement. It's all greatly appreciated! =)

  2. Would it make a difference if you purchased it on the ship when you board rather than through the website? Just asking. I never get the soda package as I don't drink soda enough. But just a thought. Maybe online it requires you to purchase for everyone...But if you purchased it on the actual ship, maybe you could possibly pull a string or two? Worth a try?

  3. Fifth problem...

(And not trying to be rude) you will have a horrible cruise. So I am expecting you to come back with a negative review as you've already started your vacation in a negative way. I understand your problems and concerns...But sometimes you just have to let go and stop stressing about it. I cruised last year with 7 and we had to go straight to the restaurant guest services to get our reservation together. It was a piece of cake and didn't take no more than 10 minutes. Hey, if they say you have to do it onboard then by all means, do it on board. That would be the end of that problem. No more calls needed, no need to keep trying online, and definitely no compensation needed.

A lot of people have problems before cruises...If they gave compensation to everyone with those problems the cruise line would not be making much money. I hope that your cruise is far more better than the experience you're having right now. :/

  4. Thank you all for your kind words! I have gotten a little bit better about my "thoughts". Lol! I'm ready to tackle this solo flight and cruise! Afterwards I can actually say I did it! That makes me more excited than anything!

  5. When cruising solo, do you guys think others look at us as "Loners?" Because that's what I'm feeling..Lol! I cruise in October on the Getaway and I'm starting to think that maybe people will look at me while eating and wonder what in the heck I'm doing sitting by myself.

I believe more than anything, I'm scared to fly alone. 2012 was my first time ever flying and it was with someone...This will be my second and I'm sure will feel just like my first. Can we say scareeeeeddddd!

  6. Thanks everyone - this is very helpful!

What ship are you thinking of booking? I would love to invite you to our Halloween Cruise on the Getaway October 25-November 1st! I'm also cruising solo this year! (First time for me) So I'm anxious as to what I'll be doing. But I have yet to think I'll be lonely! =)

Whatever cruise you decide to sail on, I hope it's a blast and your best vacation, EVER!

  7. NCL even removed the slide that was originally on the Pearl for that one reason. To make more room for the performances they have. The Pearl has by far been my favorite ship...But from the things I've heard, it is the #1 chartered ship on NCL. I would suggest looking for another ship to cruise on if you don't want to take that chance.

Hey, look on the bright side....You're in the process of booking a cruise! That's a great feeling!

  8. Never been on Breakaway and was on the Dawn in November. If it were a different ship like the Pearl, I would so go for it. But bc I did not care for the Dawn, I say Breakaway! I understand that most people try to get the bang for their buck..But it's not always about the type of cabin you're staying in. The Dawn was by far my least favorite out of the Sky and Pearl. JMO. I see that a lot of people cared for her though.

  9. If I understand this correctly, you have booked a studio cabin which is priced with single occupancy rates, but are keeping an eye on other cabins that are priced with double occupancy rates. So the new rate you would be looking at would be the FULL price in effect at the time for the upgrade cabin. That will most likely be the PPDO rate x 2.

The fact that you started out by booking a studio cabin does not give you a 50% discount (in effect) on any upgrade you consider.

Ok, so near my cruise when price drops in order for me to actually be able to upgrade balconies would have to be about $500 PP/$1000 Total. Correct? Since I am paying $979 for my studio right now.

For example if the balcony was $1100 TOTAL (Double occupancy) and if I wanted to upgrade I would have to pay approximately $120...Give or take some dollars. Am I correct now mtwingcpa???

  10. Quick question....

I am booked in a studio cabin and have heard a lot of people talk about receiving an upgrade before sailing...I am not sailing until October but I DO look at prices almost every day.

Looking at prices for my sailing before putting in that there's only (1) passenger the balcony price starts at $779...When putting in (1) passenger the price jumps up to $1558. So, when doing a upgrade near your cruise date which one do they go by? Because technically as of right now I am paying the price of a balcony as if it were two people booked. ($779)

I am not sure if this makes sense...??

  11. Please let us know if she's able to get it applied... My TA tried and they said no, but I think I might try calling myself to see if there is a different result.

Well, horrible news.....It was unable to be applied to my booking. Boooo!!! In the fine print it does state that you have to book between the dates of April 1st-May 31st. Maybe someone else can get lucky and receive it on their booking! It definitely sucks. But oh well. Life goes on and I'm going on a cruise in 173 more days! Haha!

  12. Ok. So, here is where I stand with my $100 OBC.....Received my brochure that has the Customer ID #. Took a picture and sent it to my travel agent. She calls me today and says that she called NCL and also looked under my account and neither the rep or her saw the coupon. She suggested I call HSN to either send me another brochure, or that they apply it to my latitudes number. As I was getting my information together before calling I did notice that my Customer ID and my latitude # was the same.

So, I call HSN and they inform me that I have to call NCL so they give me a direct number to get someone who would know more about the promotion. I call that number and then they transfer me to someone since I did book through a TA. (Getting transferred a lot is a bit aggravating but I'll stand it for $100 OBC...LOL!) I get to a new lady, "Gabby" and she was about to apply it to my account and then she came back with, "I'm sorry I do see you booked through a TA so they would have to contact us to apply this coupon to your account". Ahhhhhhh!!!! I just knew it was going to happen. I was extremely nice to everyone I spoke to. I did make sure she noted my account that I called and that my TA would be calling back to apply the promotion to my booking.

Now the waiting really begins. When my TA gets free she is going to contact them AGAIN. I do feel like I'm bothering her BUT, it IS $100.....Just hope I'm not getting on her nerves. Lol.

  13. I've cruised Sky, Pearl, Dawn, and Getaway in October.

By far the Pearl has been my favorite. The Dawn my least. Maybe the fact of it not leaving out of Miami done the trick for me? Not sure. But I will not be sad if I never get on the Dawn again. Now, with that being said, the Pearl is the bomb.com! Sky is a great cruise for beginners as it was mine, or maybe just a cruise for a little time away!

I'm anxious to board the Getaway. First big ship. I'm hoping it's not too crowded. What I'm worried about is the size of the pool compared to the amount of passengers that it holds.

So, after November 1st(When I'll be returning) I'll be able to answer your question! =)

  14. LOL!! I AM planning the family cruise and I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to tell everyone I'm getting my own cabin. We're a tight sibling group of 7 w/ a slew of kids and I'm one of the aunties w/out kids so the extras go in my room normally on family vacations. LOL! No big deal in a hotel room but a cruise cabin - NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!

LOL!!! This sounds SOOOOOO like me! No kids but I get the extras. haha!

  15. Oh my goodness......That's an amazing deal you received! I am also booked in a studio on the Getaway in October...I'm hoping that I will be able to do something like this! If you don't mind me asking, how much was the studio when you first booked?

Did you book through a TA? I am hoping if I'm given the chance to do this it won't be a problem considering I booked with a TA.

  16. You shouldn't need photo ID to get onto your ship

They already have your picture in their computer when you sign it at embarkation

Most of the islands I have been on have required me to show a photo ID before even boarding the ship along with the keycard. Rather it be my license, or a copy of the first page of my passport, it's always good to have one.

I would suggest taking it just to be on the safe side.

  17. Just to clarify.....So they will accept a license / copy of front page of the passport for me and hubby. For the kids (17,17 and 12) just a copy of front page of passport is ok? I looked at getting a passport card but don't want to spend the money if not needed.

Yes, that should be sufficient enough to board the ship. And of course, the keycards. =)

  18. I keep a copy of the photo page of my passport in my wallet. I lock my passport up in my room safe.

I do this exact same thing! Also, Before leaving for my cruises I always get a prepaid Visa card and put money on it and carry it with me off of the ship incase of emergencies only. For instance, if I got left for any reason, I would have money to fly out of the island I'm currently stuck on. I don't carry a lot of cash with me off of the ship and I don't carry any of my debit or credit cards. My biggest fear is not having the funds to get out of the situation I might be in.

Once I board the ship, there's 3 things I put in my safe and don't touch until the morning of disembarkation...1)Passport. 2)Wallet. 3)Cell Phone.

177 more days until I set sail on Getaway and just talking about all of this gets me so excited! LOL!
