According to this thread from last year, a taxi is about $25-30 each way. May be slightly more now.
I have never taken a taxi on that route so I can't personally verify that those prices are correct but maybe someone else has

What are the Best, Car Rental, Rates now in Port Canaveral, Fl.
Arriving Sat. the 14th December, 2013 on Carnival
?
For 1 day rental, best deal I found is $20.99 + $7.89 tx&fees at Hertz. http://sn.im/hertzoffer
Payless is pretty close: $21.00 + $8.38 tx & fees. You could maybe call their office & get the Cruise Critic discount and knock a bit off that too.

The Super Bowl hasn't been in Miami since 2010.
& won't be back in Florida until 2018 or later

Please forgive me for asking again.. I searched and couldn't find a conclusive answer. Which car rental places offer a shuttle fom the POM to a rental location for the last day of our cruise. We would like to rent a car for the day, we have a 7:00pm flight out of FLL.
ANY advice is needed.. we are leaving in 33 days!
Thanks!!!!!!:o:o
All of them.
Here's list of locations/hours/phone #: http://rentalcodes.com/FL/port_canaveral.html

We are cruising on the Carnival Splendor and will have a whole day at Port Canaveral. We want to go to the Space Center, there are three of us and it's 101.99 each, so 306.00 for all of us for the ship excursion.. Would I be better off just getting a taxi to drop us off there? Does anyone know what the transport would cost and how easy it is to get a cab back to the ship when we are ready. Thanks, Cheryl
Personally I'd rent a car.

Hotel name is Homewood Suites Ft. Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port and it didn't dawn on them cruise passengers might be staying there until later ?
That tells me all I need to know about that reviewer.

One way to Orlando or local rental ?

I stayed at The Holiday Inn Express Hotel which provided free two way shuttle for us without any problems and the rooms were OK.
Did you book a package rate, because their site says there is a fee for shuttle to port.
We offer a free, 24-hour airport shuttle, and you can take an easily accessible local Port of Miami shuttle or a taxi from the hotel for a small fee. -
If you are going before the end of January, there is a Groupon for the Florida Aquarium that will save you quite a bit. $29 for 2 people which comes to $14.50 each. Florida Aquarium $29 Groupon

In your situation, I'd probably rent from Hertz. They allow after-hours returns. There won't be a shuttle after hours, but they are the closest of the major car rental companies so you could arrange for a taxi if you happened to drop off after business hours. It also says here: http://rentalcodes.com/FL/port_canaveral.html that payless car rental is open until 7:00. I don't know if that's still the case or not, so you may want to call & verify as that would be another option. Payless is even closer than Hertz to the port.

Cheapest way is almost always to stay in a hotel near the Orlando airport & rent a car each way.

All 4 can get on (or however many you have in the vehicle you rent).

Needed hotel for mid Jan 2014 post cruise...4 nights
..RCL has 3 nighter cheaper even with single supplement...
I chickened out..kept searching..
..Surprise!..Found Holiday Inn Sheridan Street has a "Discover Florida' rate $149+tax. Must prepay 1 night. Pick up from PtEglade $10. Plus flat rate to Airport ((didn't ask $)
Was curious so I found a link to this rate - Discover Florida Rate
Turns out it's only good for stays of 4 nights or longer & only until January 25th, 2014
It comes with some nice perks though:
Stay longer and save more by getting up to 25% off when you book at least four nights
Enjoy a breakfast buffet for two adults and children staying in the room.
Move at your own pace - get a 4pm late check-out (based on availability)

All run shuttles DURING OPEN HOURS ... something you might want to check if a day visit . . .

We are looking for a hotel in the Fort Lauderdale issue that provides shuttle from airport and to the sea port.
There's a list of them here . The green icons are 'free' with appropriate hotel rate, the red icons indicate that there is an additional charge.
-
The Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon has a two level gated parking garage which seems to be in a pretty secure area. It's #16 on the map here.
-
I don't know of any true "2-bedroom" suite hotels in the immediate area around the port or Ybor City, probably near the airport would be the closest.
The Embassy Suites that was mentioned has 2-room suites, but both beds will be in the same room with a sofabed in the other room.

Am staying at Sleep Inn Airport in Miami. The hotel said there is an Irish Pub with a liquor store next to the hotel to buy wine and soda and water. Does anyone know if this is correct? I can't find anything listed when I go to google maps.
They must mean this place: http://www.brysonsirishpub.com/ . Not exactly "next" to the hotel though.

Rent a car in Miami, put the bags in the trunk, and then go where you want - South Beach, Hollywood boardwalk, lunch, beach, shopping, zoo, etc. Drop car at FLL and catch your flight.
^ best way to do it

Yeah but doesnt say anything about shuttle to the port.. hmm
Shuttle to port only for 4 guests at Homewood airport west is included with the Cruise Package Rate. Regular rate does not include the shuttle, so technically it isn't free. Have to factor in the cost/benefit of arranging your own shuttle vs just paying the package rate I guess.
-
The two websites above as far as I know, do not offer Cruise & Fly packages in Port Canaveral. Only Park & Cruise packages. I believe there are at least 5 hotels that offer Cruise packages with airport transportation. Check http://www.parkingstay.com and scroll down to the bottom where it says "Cruise & Fly Packages" for a list.
-
Most likely you'll be able to get a room, but you'll have to pay for the port shuttle as free points stays are usually only redeemable for a standard room rate, not a cruise package. There's a comfort suites and about 7 Marriott family hotels near the airport with airport & port shuttles. List here: http://www.parkingstay.com/p/miami.html
-
How do folks compare the various hotels offering this package? If the stay and park package is less than $100 more than the room rate it is a good deal versus parking at the port. Some offer only 1 way transfer, others 2 way transfers, some 2 people only others. 4 people, some breakfast included others it's not. How to keep it all straight?
DH, our 3 year old and I are taking the auto train to FL and then driving to Tampa for a 1 night hotel stay before our cruise.

Best way I've found. Shows them on a map with a table showing what each offers. Still have to check prices individually though: http://www.parkingstay.com/p/tampa.html
Other sites are stay123.com and parksleepfly.com

We have done three cruises out of Ft. Lauderdale and used Fairfield Marriott for lengthy parking periods. The cars was parked right next to the hotel in a well lit area.
Most of the Miami hotels offer 7 or a few 14 days of free parking, but the rate for extra days is significant, and much more than a secure paid parking concern.
Any suggestions for a good convenient parking area in Miami with reasonable prices for parking. The airport parking is $8 per day, for 32 days would cost $256.
There are a couple hotels near the Miami airport on http://www.park-and-fly-hotels.com that offer longer term parking. One has 21 days + extra days optional & one has unlimited parking if your still looking to go the hotel route.
Tampa info needed please.

Agree that the Rocky Point area is nice. I've stayed at the Chase Suites & would recommend it.
In January I am trying out the Springhill Suites (#4 on this map) in the Westshore area. The reviews for it are good & it was inexpensive. Will report back how it was in January.
