  1. Hi everyone 👋 husband and I are preparing to go on our first cruise post covid,,last one was summer 2019. It feels like a few things have changed. TUI telling me we need “ comprehensive cruise cover” insurance,,,has to actually say comprehensive….we have an annual policy with a high level of cruise cover that has always been more than adequate. Can anybody shed any light on this for me please? Off on the Disco2 in about 10 days. Thanks in advance for any answers. Just a thought,,,is this TUI trying to get us to have their insurance offering??

  2. Greetings,, I have a query from my son about our upcoming cruise in August on the Disco 2. We will be travelling with family friends and there will be two 14 year olds in our party,,he’s wondering if they are in the teenagers hangout clubby thing during the daytime whilst in port can the parents/ guardians leave the ship to do a shore ex or will one of us have to remain onboard at all times? Never cruised with teenagers before!!

How fantastic to read of your positive experience without any mention of compensation for the delay, I assume you were happy with the gesture from P&O.

Negativity is surrounding this site at the minute, it's great to hear the positives.

    Thank you Cappers.

You’re welcome 😎 I was happy with a glass of bubbly being offered to me as I set foot on Britannia,,I thought it was lovely and welcoming. I understand why they did it,,they didn’t have to but they did,,so cheers P&O.🥂 the extra £20 OBC was also a nice touch. I just think that these things happen you know,,cars break down,,planes get technical issues fairly regularly and delays happen so why should ships be any different. They didn’t do it on purpose,,it was just bad luck really. Life’s too short to spend time moaning about things that you cannot prevent or change.,it drains you.

  4. It was a lovely cruise 😎 we had perfect sailing weather,,smooth seas and sunshine. 2 medical emergencies,,1 of which was a helicopter evacuation at around 2 or3 am the day we left Santander,,we turned around and headed back so it wasn’t as far for the helicopter to come to us,,captain said someone had been taken “really rather poorly”  I hope both passengers are ok. .the BOB was very kind to us both ways and we saw loads of dolphins. Lots of crew drills went on when we were in port. Lovely ship,,crew all fantastic,,food great.,,a glass or 2 of free champagne was waiting for everyone as we boarded last week and all the ships company went to great lengths to try and make up for the delay.

  5. This might be a really daft question but,,,if the situation changes and Britannia gets home sooner than predicted will everyone then get messages to hotfoot it down to Southampton asap or is it a case of now they’ve told everyone it won’t or can’t be changed? I’ve never had this happen before so I really don’t know. Now planning to set off from Leicestershire at around 2pm just to give us plenty of time but am quite worried about the volume of bank holiday traffic we might encounter.

  6. I’ve just had a txt from P&O to say Britannia will be delayed and to please now plan our arrival 5 hours after the time on our e-tickets . I’ve just looked on marine traffic and it’s showing her going the wrong way! I wonder if they are having to head for nearest port for something? I’m still packing so I’m not too bothered about setting off later,,just glad things seem to be under control now,,must have been quite alarming with a fire announcement at 3am😱

  7. Well,,it's booked:D Undiscovered Spain on 12th August. It's our 30th wedding anniversary. It wasn't my first choice of ship or itinerary but I'm happy with it now. We always enjoy any cruise or holiday,,it's not work and we're not dead so it's all good. It's probably the smallest ship we've been on since our very first cruise on the old Island Escape some years ago and I'm looking forward to seeing if there is a noticeable difference in ambience and atmosphere. We love a summer cruise & stay,,we've done it for a few years now. We were planning a family trip to Florida but that went a bit pear shaped and I've left it and left it until now to book something. Trying to accommodate everybody's likes and dislikes is too complicated so I've decided this is what we're doing! It sounds lovely from your comments and I'm sure we'll love it.:)

  8. Thank you very much:D did your daughter and family say anything about wether it was a smooth comfortable sailing ship because lots of people have been telling me that the Spirit is always a rocky ride and can be uncomfortable in the even the slightest seas,,it wouldn't bother me much but my husband and son both get a bit motion sick sometimes. It's a special occasion so I don't want either of them regretting our choice!

  9. Has anybody been on the Spirit recently? I'm considering it for August but am hearing nothing good about it,,I'm trying not to listen or take any notice of such moans but I've yet to hear anything positive:( lovely itinerary and nice options for stay after cruise,,and very good price compared to others. We always do Thomson cruise n stay in summer but not been on the spirit.

  10. I was onboard for that NY cruise to. I loved Aurora to,,very nice ship. I'd love to sail on her again. I was impressed and very pleased at how well she handled all that rough weather and storm Eleanor on the way home! Shame if they do get rid of her.

  11. There was no actual proper Zumba classes when I was on discovery in August,,I checked the schedule thoroughly every day cos I do Zumba 4 times a week and I really missed it. They had various gym based things and an afternoon stretch thing. I just marched around the running track for an hour a day! Well,,tried to but it was like an obstacle course because people had put their sunbeds all over it.

  12. I did the 4 nighter on Ventura last New Years,,Bruges and Amsterdam. We loved it,,best New Years thing we've ever done. Currently trying to decide between the Hamburg one or 5 nights in Spain for this year. It was a great atmosphere on the ship. The only thing that could have made it better is if we had been with family or friends..but it was just the two of us.

  13. I found this post eye opening and concerning too, thanks for sharing.

We always bring out own pillow cases because often the pillows have a dirty smell about them.

I was just going to say that! I too have noticed an unpleasant smell where pillows are concerned,,it reminds me of old fashioned men's hair cream or something,,brylcream wasn't it? I take my own pillow cases and linen spray.

  14. Tourist resort in Spain for Brits having a wild time drinking etc.

Yes,,that's about right! But it's so much more than that:cool: beautiful white sand beaches,,great climate, it's a year round destination, and the nightlife and entertainment is fantastic..and it's free! Avoid it in peak season but when I go in October it's much more civilised with more mature visitors not all lager louts. Oohhh,,and the shops:hearteyes:

  15. Nowt wrong with Benidorm  it's my spiritual home! You're as likely to find me on levante beach as you are on a cruise,,although I do dress very differently when in the big B than I do on a ship! When I'm cruising I'm a lady;) but when I'm cruising the strip in Benidorm I'm not quite so subdued! I Always adhere to the dress code though cos I like to dress up in the evenings and it's lovely to see people in their finery,,gives the ship a nice ambience and feels special:)

  16. I know the original poster has probably had their holiday now but I just thought I'd mention this,,we flew back from Malaga yesterday. 20th August,,we had 25kg each and the cruise allowance hand luggage...I am terrible at packing and always take far too much. On the way out we were couple of kgs under but yesterday at check in our 2 cases and 1 bag combined were 6kg over! They didn't bat an eyelid! I breathed a sigh of relief but can't help wondering if it's a game of chance and luck.

  17. I did it the week after it opened! It was fantastic,,one of the best things I've ever done,,,I loved it. I just got off the ship( Azura) and went straight to the ticket booth,,cabin thing where we docked,,yes it was expensive,,650 kroner but by golly I thought it wa worth it. They were still tarmacing the car park when I went! Coming down I had the whole thing to myself,,I laughed gleefully all the way down! I walked along the paths up there and revelled in the sheer beauty and coldnesss of it,,I cannot recommend it enough. I'm currently in Spain and went on a very small cable car up a mountain the other day,,very high,,very dramatic,,but I said to my husband that it didn't compare to that Loen skylift! Do it:cool:

  18. I went to Seville from Cadiz last week,,on another cruise line,,it was fabulous. It was about an hour and 40 mins on the coach,,straight there, no stops. It's a beautiful city,,but they don't call it the oven of Spain for nothing! It was flat and easy to navigate though. For me, Seville was the highlight of the cruise.
