  1. We are cruising in 3 weeks and have narrowed our P.V. beach day down to either Krystal or Secrets, which I believe may now be called Amber??? There are 7 of us travelling total ~ 5 adults and 2 young children.

Based off what I've read, Krystal no longer allows entrance to cruise passengers at no charge, purchase food and drink, but does not require a taxi ride. Amber/Secrets requires a taxi ride and I figure will cost about $25.00 more per person for the true all-inclusive everything.... I am leaning more towards Secrets... but would love to know what other fellow CC'rs think! Thank you.

  2. Up until recently we had never been asked that... however, this past January on the Carnival Liberty, we were asked this multiple times from various shops, including Harley Davidson. One shop required us to show your S&S card and another asked us to write down the ship name on a log they had at the counter. I asked why and they said it had something to do with taxes...

  4. OP to answer your question... YES, you can remove and they will credit back to you. If you remove early in the cruise, you will get credit on S&S which will be eaten up by ship spending.... or if you remove later during cruise, you may end up with a credit on your cc (assuming you've put a cc down).

I've prepaid gratuities and had horrible service.... called desk to advise of situation which created obvious uncomfortable friction between us and the steward. If this happens again, I would simplydiscuss with him myself, see how he/she does the remainder of the cruise and adjust tips, as we feel necessary.

  5. So do you know if you can book Comfort+ with Carnivals fly2fun?

Yes, you can... HOWEVER, when booking through CCL F2F program, you aren't ticketed until approximatley 30-45 days before flight. ... which means, you cannot upgrade to Delta Comfort until you can access your booking! Also, CCL doesn't do the best at keeping seats together, unless there are minors.

For us last year, we got lucky and were able to upgrade, but they only had a few Delta Comfort seats left. Some people in our group, were not able to upgrade to Delta Comfort.

  6. So what's your thoughts on booking on the way down when you've got the money and adding on the way back at another time or using the Fly2Fun for the return leg if you book at a later time on the way back won't it be more expensive

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe under the old CCL FlyAweigh program, you had to book air travel round trip... that may have changed with the new launch of the Fly2Fun program. You should definitely check into that!

This past January, we used CCL FlyAweigh for the first time from LAX to San Juan, PR because there weren't any direct flights to SJU from LAX and we didn't want to take any chances of bad weather and not making the ship..... pricing was actually very good through CCL. I believe we paid $346 R/T.

  7. So you spend the whole week getting relaxed and laid back.... Then you stress out the last day because of possible ship delays/immigration delays/shuttle delays/traffic delays/TSA delays.....

Nope. Not for me. Not to save 30 to 50 bucks a person. Book a later flight, chill out and enjoy the Florida weather one last day. :D

I would have loved to stay in Florida one last day..... but this flight doesn't stress me out at all, especially since this is just me and my hubby travelling :) Originally we had planned to stay until Sunday; however, our work schedules require us to return Saturday :(

The only time I've been stressed after a cruise was when 13 family members disembarked from Miami with an 11:30 a.m. flight out of Fort Lauderdale. Arrived at the airport at 8:45 a.m. only to discover that one of our bags was left at the Miami cruiseport! Caught a taxi from FLL back to POM, located back in lost and found and still made it back to FLL by 10:30! Needed a drink when I got onto that plane :D

  8. Did you buy a RT at once or a one way, just wondering if we buy a one way when we have the money for it and add the back end at another time

I've found that booking one way (often with different airlines) is the most cost efficient..... for this cruise we are flying in on Delta Airlines for $139 pp + baggage cost and flying back SW for $99.00 with no baggage costs.... that makes roundtrip from LAX to MCO $238 per person plus $25.00 per checked bag :)

  9. Is a higher category cabin available? Can always upgrade yourself.

Bingo! I booked a PT and was not eligible for any price reduction because the category was sold out (come to find out there were only 12 PT cabins on that ship)... so I upgraded to a 4J (inside with floor window), paid less money and got my $200 OBC :)

NOTE: In my opinion, this is one of the biggest downfalls of CCL's Early Saver program. I do not feel they should EVER offer an ES price for cabin categories where there are less than 20. Unless you upgrade, it will most likely never work out!

  10. Just got off the Sunshine yesterday and believe me, whatever you wear to dinner on whatever night is apparently acceptable..NEVER thought I'd see barefoot in the Steakhouse, but YES indeed, I did!

(The person had shoes under the table but took them off and was walking around barefoot!)

Baseball caps, cutoffs, tank tops etc. were normal.....

Honestly, I don't care if you walk around naked but this was just my observation!

I have witnessed the same on 5 difference cruises over the past 18 months! I really could care less, but I definitely did notice!

  11. Living on the west coast, I've done several cruises out of Long Beach and San Diego.... I concur. Rarely a price drop on west coast departures. Sometimes we get a resident rate that is lower... for us it really depends on what type of benefit there is to book E.S. For example, when we take our adult children and their families, as a Christmas gift (11 passengers total), we typically watch for a reduced deposit sale!

  12. With four in the cabin you'll have more room if the lowers are apart. One under the window, the other along one of the walls. Assuming your 3yo is on a trundle, place that along the other wall.

    Voice of Experience.

Totally agree.... twin beds on the bottom will open much more cabin floor space!

  13. After cruising several ships with quad cabins, I can tell you this varies by ship and sometimes even by deck. If you haven't already done so, check out cruise line rooms dot com and search there. In my experience, many (if not all) OV cabins have a couch which becomes the bottom of the bunk under the pullmen and then the king bed is made either under the window or on the opposite wall.

  14. How far down the beach is The ME Cabo from The Office /Mango Deck area? I am travelling in September with my best friend and her 2 daughters (ages 5 & 6). We are trying to figure out a place they can swim and then me and my older daughters can meet up with them for the afternoon. You mentioned it's no charge, if you buy food/drink. Does same thing apply for kids?

  15. I unfortunately, didn't book Early Saver, so no price guarantee. I just looked online, and it looks like the prices are now $80 cheaper per person (there are 9 in our group), plus $50 per stateroom (4 staterooms are booked). Our TA talked us out of ES, because of the non-refundable deposits.

Since there is such a large group of us, getting everyone together to figure out what we want to do is a logistical nightmare. But we shall see. $720 more is a LOT, not to mention $200 in obc.

You need to ask your TA to change the rate code on your reservation! If the $200 OBC promotion is $80 cheaper, she can switch it, but keep in mind you have to pay cruise in FULL immediately! I am sailing in January 2017 and just did the same thing yesterday for ours. Paid in full and got the $200 OBC and saved $$

  16. Thanks for the info above... wondering if the camp times vary depending on port schedules, etc. I read that camp is free until 10pm is that every night? My children are all in their 20's, but my best friend is travelling with me in September and her girls are 5 and 6. Thanks!
