  1. Mazatlan - Maria's Happy Horses, We have done this excursion twice in the past when it was called Randi's Happy Horses. Randi has since passed away but the same family that owns the horses are still involved. You take a water taxi over to Stone Island and ride horses on the beach. Then you can swim on the ocean or hang out a Victor's for food and drinks It is super fun. You can tell we love it since this is our third time on this excursion. We aren't horse people in general. This is just a ton of fun.

Thanks for the info. Quick question regarding this tour..... I saw on Maria's website that water taxi is included in price of $35 per person. If you stay and enjoy the beach after the horses.... are you left taking a water taxi back and paying for it or do you get some sort of wristband for your ride back? Thanks!

  2. I have room 3120 booked for an upcoming Sunshine cruise.

Here is one of the best reviews I found of 4J rooms on the Sunshine.

    Starting at post #10.

Hiya! Pretty please take pictures of 3120... both cabin and view. I am soooo looking forward to see the actual view from that cabin since that's the same one we booked for our January cruise. Please and thank you :D

  3. Only the new 4Js - the ones on deck 3 - will have a mini fridge.

Everything I've heard about these cabins has been positive. And I can tell you, I purposely walked back there last year during an event in the lobby, and it was quiet. At least from the hallway. There are a few reviews buried on this page of folks that have stayed in them. Maybe try searching a few different ways. All positive marks. We have two booked for the Magic. Looking forward to trying them out for the first time.

Thanks! I am actually looking forward to our 4J on deck 3 :)

  4. I will have 69 VIFP points upon embarkation of a 6 night cruise (which will give me 75 days on the last day of that cruise). I believe when I turned Gold during a cruise, I received a Gold card and got Gold benefits, which at that time was the past guest party... etc.

Does anyone know if I will be considered Platinum and receive priority boarding, even though I won't actually be Platinum until the 6th day of my 6 night cruise?

  5. Any know if you can bring larger cans, such as a 16oz energy drinks, they sell four packs. Thanks in advance.

I carried on a 4 pack of Rockstar through security out of Long Beach in November... no problems whatsoever, yet they confiscated my daughter's water bottle she was drinking from. No biggie.

2 weeks later... back at Long Beach, had 4 rockstars out of box and no problems.... friends with me had their water bottles confiscated before they went through security.

  6. I am so glad I kept reading on this thread!! Everyone was really getting to me about not letting Carnival book flights. I am locked in on a flight to San Juan out of Chicago in October 2016, that is half of what the rest of my family is paying out of Indianapolis, booking themselves and weeks later than I did. I was almost ready to cancel this hold and book at a much more expensive cost. Thanks for this information. Since we are flying into San Juan 2 days early, I am not expecting many issues!!

Our CCL flights into San Juan in January were fantastic! No problems with CCL whatsoever :) Just remember... about 60 days out, you can go onto the actual airline website and check your seating arrangement to verify that you are together :) If you have any problems while traveling (like our Delta nightmare), just call the travel emergency #. They were available for me at 2 a.m. and offered to put us up in a hotel in NYC until the airline issue was resolved.

  7. Something I thought I'd also point out is that Carnival isn't necessarily making a huge profit, if any at all, by offering airfare..... on our return home from Puerto Rico, we ran into major issues with Delta, snowstorm, crew time topped out, plane out of gas, all of which ended up in 8 hours of sitting at the gate and/or tarmac!

Long story short... we paid $449 pp for r/t through CCL FlyAweigh LAX to SJU. (United to SJU and Delta home) After writing a strongly worded letter to Delta about the unacceptable manner in which they handled the delay... Delta agreed to refund all 16 of us our full fare ticket paid of $279/pp (which Carnival purchased on our behalf), plus baggage fees, PLUS a $500.00 Delta credit for each person booked through CCL program.

Since we are positive that CCL paid Delta $279 per person, that means that our outbound United Flight would had to be less than $170 for Carnival to make any profit. Just out of curiousity, I checked 1 way fares from LAX to SJU and they average $300.00.... I am thinking Carnival may have lost money on the 16 of us!

P.S. No need to use Carnival air on our trip nex January because this one will be on Delta :D

  8. You did not have to purchase premium seats. You would have been assigned your seats either when you checked in or shortly before leaving. (after the elites got their upgades and other folks moved up the "better seat" ladder and their original seats became available.). You might have been sitting in row 35 with a middle seat but you would have had a seat. The GA's and even FA's do and would have made an effort to get everyone seated together if possible. (being polite and asking nicely to other pax and the GA's and FA's helps as well. )

Exactly what I was going to say. Carnival guarantees the price you paid at the time you booked airfare.... OP did NOT have to pay the extra money for the upgrade, they were guaranteed 3 seats at the price paid.

With that said, I had a group of 16 (including 2 children and 1 adult with disability) travel under CCL FlyAweigh program from LAX to San Juan Puerto Rico. All 16 of us on same flight, both families with minor children all were sat together.

Carnival made it crystal clear when booking that that seats would be purchased and guaranteed for the price we paid, but that they would not be ticketed until 60-70 days prior to sailing. Thus, at 60 days before sailing we were able to log onto the airline website and check seat assignment, etc.

I will say that a few people were annoyed with theprocess... but the guarantee of price and guarantee to the cruise ship was worth the small inconvenience. At the end of the day.... all 16 of us agreed that the CCL air program was totally worth it!

  9. I often take the 3 or 4 day cruises out of LA. Ensenada isn't a fantastic port, but I do like to take a walk downtown. I always just walk it - I need the exercise and it's only about a mile! - but the shuttles are very close.

I've done the blowhole twice, but never on an official ship excursion, I just go out to where the taxi stand is and get a taxi to take me and my friends out there. For $50 -60 you can get a taxi for the whole day and go wherever you want. So I've been to the ziplines at Las Canadas (that's the most fun thing to do in Ensenada - I've been twice, and once went ATVing after the ziplines!) Last cruise I went with some other geocachers (google it if you don't know what that is) and we got a taxi to drive us all over the rutted dirt roads in the hills looking for caches - and we went to the blowhole too.

I like flexibility so I prefer taxis to the official excursions. Also a lot cheaper!

Question about Las Canadas.... I am travelling with a group of ladies in our late 40's.... most of us have a little middle age pudge and 2 are very concerned with the size limits stated on the Las Cadanas website. Do you recall there being any average size women (size 14) doing the tour? The site states,

"There is no weight limit to take the Canopy Tour as long as you can fit the safety harness. Max Waist Belt: 48 inches. (122 cms) / Max. Leg Loop 26 inches. (66 cms)"

I've personally ziplined many times and have never given a second thought to the leg loop or belt size, but that leg loop worries me as I measured the top of my thigh towards my hip and it's 25.5"!!!

    Thoughts?!?!

  10. Having a hard time finding information about Carnival's shared cocktail party and am wondering anyone might be able to answer a couple of questions...

Our group doing the 1 hour shared cocktail party on the 3 night Inspiration cruise. Carnival says they will send an invitation to each cabin, but cannot give me an idea of when. Before I assume it will occur on the sea day, thought I'd check here.....

    Thanks in advance!

  11. Don't waste the money switching passenger names now.... just go straight to guest services once onboard (BEFORE you buy cheers package)and switch persons so that the guys and girls are in their own rooms. Then like others have said... each of you will need an extra keep to their actual cabins.
