  1. :)

Princess posted this on their Facebook page about an hour ago in response to a question about losing the free Platinum/Elite internet minutes.

We regret that there is misinformation about the new internet packages being trialed on Grand Princess. When the program rolls out fleetwide, guests with Platinum or Elite internet minutes will have three options upon first sign on:

    1) Activate their existing minutes, just as before;

    2) Upgrade to a package with a larger number of minutes, just as before; or

    3) Upgrade to one of the new unlimited packages at a reduced rate, which is what you're describing.

Any Platinum or Elite guests who chooses option 1 or 2 will still be able to access any site they were able to before the new packages rolled out, they are not limited to just the "Social" tier.

As we've said, since this is a trial, there have been a few bugs to work out, and we've heard from our shipboard teams that there were some issues with access to certain websites for Platinum and Elite guests, which I believe is where this rumor is coming from. We hope that helps, and assure you we very much do value our loyal guests.

Can someone help me out regarding Princess Facebook page. When it comes to understanding Facebook, MyI knowledge is limited. Where do you go on Facebook to see Princess comments? I tried searching and only came up with user groups and folks posting pictures. Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Having sailed on the Royal. I noticed that Princess has installed a card/light switch to conserve energy.. By using your cruise card or for that matter, any card, you could turn on or leave on the lights in your cabin.

Just wondering - With the new medallion, Royal, Regal and CB etc. do your think your cabin lights will be turned on automatically as you enter the cabin? Or do you think Princess will attach a cabin card to be used in the light switch? "So many questions so few answers."

  3. In 2018 we will be doing a b2b Western Caribbean and Trans Atlantic. Our first leg we will be Platinum. For the trans A we will be Elite.

Question: will we receive two sets of medallions for our cruises?. One colored for Platinum, the other Black for Elite? Appreciate your comments

  4. EZ air If you do not want to wait to get your seating assignment on some airlines. (Princess EZ air has you wait until 45 days prior to the departure date of your cruise). If you pay the entire balance early and waive the flexible part you can get your airline booking number and select your seats through your selected airline. It works for me as the flight s we wanted had limited seats available.

  5. I recently viewed a story on TV about travel protection benefits included on many credit cards. I checked one of my own, Chase United Plus Explorer Card and found the following on their web site.

Travel Protection Benefits, Baggage Delay Insurance , Lost Luggage reimbursement, Trip delay Reimbursement, Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption Insurance, Travel Accident Insurance and auto rental Collision damage Waiver. We always purchase travel insurance for our cruises. Has anyone ever used their credit card travel insurance to file a claim for losses etc. incurred during their cruise. Also, I wonder if you could use your credit card travel benefits in conjunction or an addition to, your cruise insurance?

  6. Hello:

The latest promotion by Princess is not particularly impressive. We are booked for the Royal next summer, and this latest promotion is more than $350 more expensive pp than the last promotion...

We just refared our Med cruise on the Royal. Gave up: free gratuities (259) Gained OBC +200, Gained Specialty Dining for 2 +58, Gained fare reduction +920 for the both of us. This was the third time we requested a relook at our fares. 1. free drink Promo 2. free gratuities Promo and now 3. Anniversary sale. Each one in our case, better than the previous.

  7. We are planning to pay our final payment prior to the required Princess due date. The main reason is to get our seat assignments prior to the 45 day window. via (Early Flexible Fares Air Ticketing Request)

Question: Are upsells & possible upgrades still available to folks after they make their final payment?

  8. We will have 2 formal nights on an upcoming Princess cruise. Do you get 2 tuxedo shirts with the basic black tux package? If not, who pays to launder the shirt between the formal nights?

    Thanks!

You will get 2 shirts for the cruise. On longer cruises with 3 formal nights, you will still get

    2 shirts. Keep them clean.

  9. Which deck will you be on? There's the cabin 735 on several decks.

We will be in Caribe (C735) Hope this helps Thanks for your comments. Seems like the Royal is similar to other Grand Class when it comes

    to the Wi-Fi connections.

    Thanks

  10. We will be sailing on the Royal. aft cabin (735). Can anyone tell me what I can expect regarding Wi-Fi connectivity at the rear of the ship? Our other cruises on the grand class ships, I had to crack open the cabin door or sit out in the hall to connect to the internet. Please tell me Princess has improved this service.

    Thanks

  11. I just got off the phone with Princess. I had them reprice our 10 day Med cruise. We had the S&S promo. The new cabin price saved us $860. However, we lost $200 from our ship board credit. But, the 3-For provided us with free gratuities valued at $259, Bottom line, a net savings of $919 with the 3 For Free Promotion. Happy Camper!

Thanks to the Cruise Critics posters for the early heads up.

  12. I really hope this is just a momentary minute of insanity on Princess' part... I love the Patter. I have saved every Patter from every cruise. They provide a wonderful point of reference.

I hope you are right. I am all for improvements to the cruise experience but everything has it's limits. Remember a few months back the problem with BUTTER not available on the tables in the MDR. Again, Folks were very upset. Hopefully, Princess gets the message regarding this "Matter with the Patter" Also many others are not happy the Share/ C. Stone.

  13. EZ Air offers two types of tickets - flexible, which can be modified up 45 days prior to departure, and Restriced which are instant purchase non refundable fares.

As many airlines will not allow seat assignments to be made until the ticket is actually issued, if you are on a flex fare you will not be able to get seats allocated until 45 days from departure. You can circumvent this by paying the flex fare in full early and filling out Princess' early ticketing request waiver (Princess reservations can email you or your travel agent the form). the negative of early ticketing a flex fare is it basically then becomes an instant purchase non refundable fare and you lose the ability to make changes and cancellations, which is part of whats the flex fare such an attractive option.

I know American and Air Canada have the seat assignment restrictions on flex fares, and I'm sure there are others too. This also restricts the ability for clients to purchase economy comfort type seating on these airlines as well.

To add additional info to the above post. We booked EZair for our May 2017 trip to Rome. Selected flex air flights on UAL. After receiving confirmation from Princess, I went to the United Airlines web site and was able to select our seats. HOWEVER, the following week I again checked our UAL reservation to find that IT, THE RESERVATION was no longer listed on the UAL site. I called UAL and they told me that the reservation was removed as it was not yet paid. I checked with Princess to confirm that we still had our flights in their system. Unless we pay early we will not be able to select our seats until 45 days out etc.

So, those Folks who think you may have your seats on UAL via Princess (flex fare) may be surprised if you don't see your reservation & seats after a few days. Hopefully, next year we will be able to get two seats together for or TA flight.

  14. That's great! So. If you wanted to you could book an EZAir flight for your way home...at a later date...just not the specific airline you wanted?

Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

Yes, we were looking at American but departure times from Barcelona were very early.

Some that we were interested in and should have booked just to be safe, then fell from the list the next day etc. We try to give ourselves enough connection times between planes in case our first flight is a little late. Also, to give the ground folks time to get our luggage to the next plane. We had a experience when ALL our luggage never made it to the second flight. We spent our first two days in Rome without baggage. It eventually arrived at our hotel. It was a good thing we went 3 days early pre cruise. O' Boy!

  15. Hi all,

Has anyone purchased an EZAir flight, outgoing, to your cruise and then purchase the flight home at a later date?

    TIA

Just the other day we purchased a one way "outgoing" via EZ Air. (great price unrestricted)Returning: EZ Air did not reflect any flights for our carrier UAL on the day we wanted. We then used our UAL miles to book the return flight to our home. Also, by going to our destination, Rome on a Thursday vs a Friday we saved over $700 for the two of us. So we booked our hotel an extra day in Rome say 200 euro we net ahead close to $500. Happy Camper!

  16. That right there is a bald face lie with Princess! Why get insurance if you aren't insured on a cruise by an independent insurance company. We have Travel Guard the gold plan and we are covered for everything. Travel to the airport, hotel, ship, everything. Does Princess really think people are that gullible to believe them just to sell their policy? I understood a long time ago to never get the policy that is offered by the cruise line as they have their own self interests.

One should also be aware that Princess and other insurance companies are "secondary" payers. You first must submit your bills to your own private insurance. The "secondary" will pay what your "primary" insurance will not pay. Folks need to check " insuremytrip.com for the different policies. So if you have a $500 med bill and the primary pays $450. The secondary will pay the $50. You may have paid $400 for the cruise insurance and getting only a $50 benefit. Yes, if you have a major need the secondary insurance may be worth the cost. For our cruises we use Travelex They provide "primary" insurance coverage. Used them once, worked fine.

    All the best

  17. All the sip and sale prices are inflated that I have checked. They inflate some prices before the sale is announced and it looks like it is free. So you paid more for your cruise then you should have and they bring out the package, which they new they were going to do and your price stays the same and you think you got a deal. These promos are planned a long time in advance, they don't give anything away.

Yesterday I checked the Princess web site to compare the current price for our already booked cruise on the Royal 2017. Yes, the cruise did qualify for the S & Sale. However, the cost of our cruise went up by $60PP. I called Princess and inquired about getting the S & Sale OPC . The Rep repriced our cabin BD category and said the price actually went down for that category by $40 PP. So we repriced and got a $80 reduction and a $400 OPC for our 10 day Cruise. BOTTOM LINE: Make that call to Princess if you are interested in the S & Sale and repricing an existing booking inquire about the category price. Never hurts to ask.

    All the best!
