  1. I just gave away 9 size 14 dresses, so there are quite a few ladies on here that would be interested. :)

    Lisa

    Hi Lisa,

Your/my dress arrived today. I could not believe my eyes when I opened the package - the dress is just stunning, far exceeding my expectations. I can't believe you could give away something so beautiful. It's a tad tight at the moment, which is really good as I'm on a low carb diet at the moment and have already dropped a few kilos so it will be just perfect. Again, thank you so much for your generosity. :)

    Cheers .. Bev

  2. For those of your who got the shoes and the dresses from me, they were mailed today. I have email everyone with the cost of the postage, so check your email. Also if you would let me know when you receive the package I would appreciate it.

    Connie

I sure will, Connie; thank you. So looking forward to that lovely dress, and I know exactly what accessories I'll be teaming with it.

    Cheers, Bev :)

  3. The Dillards by our home is going out of business so I have been getting great deals. The last dress I needed was for elegant night, the dress I got is more formal but my husband and I never get a chance to dress up. The best part is the dress was only 26.00 dollars:D. Excuse the way I look I was so excited for my husband to see I tried it on right b4 bed!

Gorgeous dress, and you can see that you feel good in it, which is the perfect accessory to any outfit.

  4. It's more the stops I was worried about. We'll be spending overnight at a few motorlodges. I've done tons of research about the areas where we'll be staying, but you never know. I'd rather err on the side of caution.

As such I am using it as an excuse to pick up some fun costume jewelry :)

A great excuse for a bit of indulgence. Enjoy. I'm not a fan of expensive jewellery for the simple reason that I'd had to stress about losing it, so costume jewellery fills most of my jewel boxes.

    Cheers .. Bev

  5. You never have to worry about a dress from me being too short. One of the reasons I post my height is so everyone that is shorter will understand that where a dress hits on my legs is not where it will hit on you. :D

JS Collections is my absolute favorite designer for full length gowns since they run about 64". I purchase the majority of my dresses online since I live in a rural area that does not have a lot of options for cocktail and formal wear. As long as you know your true measurements and read the reviews, online shopping is pretty pain free. In three years I have only returned one dress and that was due to the color. The color was supposed to by dusty rose and it was bubble gum/pepto pink. That is a horrible color on me.

I'll check out JS. I buy very little online, apart from books from The Book Depository and the odd item from Amazon. I have to admit, I love the thrill of shopping and have no problem spending five hours in a shopping centre, trying on hats, shoes, dresses, just being a kid in a lolly store.

    Cheers .. Bev

  6. Love that green dress above!! So cute! I wish I could have found something that stylish when I was pregnant!

I recently bought 3 dresses for our upcoming cruise thinking there were 3 formal nights during our 12-night itinerary, but there are actually only two.

These are kind of bad pics taken in fitting rooms, etc, but these are the dresses (without matching jewelry)

I'll probably just take the one pair of strappy black heels to go with all of them. I found them on a great sale at Banana Republic!

    Not sure which I'll wear:

The black and the pink are totally gorgeous. Love the shoes also.

  7. I love swarvoski crystal pieces. I have a bracelet and necklace that I recently picked up that just shines and shines.

I love to accessorize. I have to always remind myself less is more. I always wear my wedding rings. Except I won't be for our cruise. DH bought a special anniversary ring for me to wear since we are driving (20 hours down to port and then 20 hours back home) and if we get robbed along the way I don't want to lose my other rings.

Do you gals think I'm being silly about potential robbery/theft? My wedding rings (anniversary ring, wedding, and engagement) are all blingy diamonds. Very eye-catching. I just don't want to catch the wrong eye.

Wow, I am stunned that there is a need to be so concerned when you're driving. Couldn't you just turn the diamonds inwards when you leave the car to go into a shop or whatever? I'm pretty careful in some areas of Paris, and certainly would never go out with bling on in a place like Marseille, or some places here in Australia, but I can't imagine being worried when in my own car. Amazing.

Mind you, that gives you a lovely excuse to pick up some dress jewellery along the way.

  8. Hi Lisa,

I am so glad to hear how tall you are. I'm nowhere near that, only 5'6", but I tend to wear high heels always and so I was a little concerned in case the dress was too short. Taking up a hem is never a problem, but letting one down can really spoil the look of a dress. My man is tall also, but 3" shorter than yours. We'll be hiring a tux for him for the cruise. If we fall in love with cruising, which I think we might, then I guess we will then look at having one made for him - and Hong Kong would be a great spot to do that with all those fabulous tailors who charge such excellent prices.

    Cheers .. Bev

  9. Oh, that is kind. I do love that pale pink one. I really like the style of it. I think the brown one, while it is really elegant, is probably a bit too low cut for me, but thank you anyway. I will send you an email with my details, and if you let me know how much the postage is I'll send you a check, or pay it into a Paypal account if you have one, or send you an Amazon gift voucher, whatever you are happy with.

    Cheers .. Bev

  10. That's right, M, I'm deep in the land of Nod when all these lovely dresses come dancing across the screen, but that's okay because we're not cruising until January. I do have a couple of lovely cocktail type dresses which will be perfect for the non-formal nights, and I don't mind if I end up having to buy two or three evening gowns - it's so long since I've had the requirement to do so that it would be very exciting anyway.

    Cheers, Bev

  11. I just love the idea of all those lovely dresses that have travelled the world. Imagine the night time conversations in your wardrobes, "Hey, pinkie, I've done 20 cruises so far. How about you?" "Oh gee, green satin, I've only clocked up one so far, but it was an around-the-world, so I think that's like a full house, isn't it." "Hey, you two, don't forget me. These shoes have walked the streets of Venice, Hong Kong, Valparaiso, and watched sheep sheering in New Zealand."

You are a lovely bunch of ladies to allow your clothes to accumulate such wonderful experiences and I'll certainly be watching for what may pop up in a size 14 for an Australian closer to my departure date.

  12. I will have some 14's and prob 16's.....no time to clean out until after my cruise....prob around the first part of Oct........if time allows could be 2nd week or Aug, but no promises

    Hi there,

Wow, what a find this thread is! We're off on our first cruise in January, on Holland America from Singapore to Hong Kong, and I had been planning to hire some evening wear, but I will be keeping an eye on this thread instead. I'm an Australian size 14, which I think is an English 16 and an American 12.

Have a wonderful cruise in August.

    Cheers,
