I'm wondering if this post is a pre-cursor to a longer review, I'm guessing that you didn't enjoy your cruise Accessor?

We loved the ship, the people, and the itinerary on our cruise! What shocked us was some of the food offerings such as bologna and not just once, again and again.  I have been to Bologna, Italy and the mortadella is of very high quality and delicious!

Apologies for the ignorance from this side of the pond, but what is bologna/baloney?  It looks more like a folded pancake from the photos.

The bologna sausage is traditionally made from the “odds and ends” of chicken, turkey, beef, or pork. It is similar to the Italian mortadella, which originated in the Italian city of Bologna. The inexpensive deli meat is often pronounced and spelled “baloney.”

Basically the cheapest type of sliced lunch meat you can usually buy in a grocery store

  3. Bologna!! Yes, Seabourn has raised the bar for a 6 star cruiseline, exceeding our expectations and creating a "Seabourn Moment". It was served at multiple venues & times; Colonnade lunch buffet, Tapas in the Observation lounge, and the highlight was featuring this gourmet treat on pool deck celebration party on the last day of the cruise. What's next Cheese Whiz and PB&J?

This was from our March 11th Sailing on the Encore from Auckland to Sydney, our 1st time on Seabourn. For a second I had to check my room key to make sure we were on the right ship...

Accessor, as a first timer on Seabourn do you have a Referral Coupon (it gives you a $400 on board credit)

    (see top of page)

Yes, thanks already have our OBC for 1st timers...

Thank you everyone that replied~  A forum thread for port shuttle lists on Seabourn would be beneficial . Oceania's forum has one which we use frequently. Really surprised by the inaccurate responses from my TA and the lack of an official list from Seabourn.

  5. We are on 16 day Encore Auckland to Sydney cruise and wanted to find out which stops offer complimentary shuttles to town. After calling my TA he said they don't provide any complimentary shuttles (which I thought was incorrect). Next I called Seabourn directly,  they stated we don't provide shuttles unless it's over 15 min walk from the port to the city center, and won't tell you which ports have them b/c we can cancel them anytime and don't want to disappoint anyone.

Stops I was unsure of any shuttle service provided and/or needed info on:

    1. Port Chalmers
    2. Oban
    3. Melbourne
    4. Phillip Island
    5. Eden

First timers on Seabourn and traveling to NZ and Australia. Thank you for the feedback.

  6. Lobster night has become a joke...look at the size of the fork and broccoli compared to the lobster. It took about 3 bites to eat the entire tail, probably 2 ounces of meat Sure, order all you want...but why not put a decent sized 6 ounce tail on the plate?

This was from Allure October 2018 sailing. I'm a diamond member, so it's not my first lobster rodeo.

  7. We were just on the Riviera in June; had experienced very loud creaky pipes (late at night when most are trying to sleep), flushing toilets, talking in hallways and slamming doors. All very normal noises for a cruise ship. A pair of earplugs I always travel with solved all of my problems...really shocking that anyone would expect dead silence on a ship at anytime.

  8. You would think they would have learned something on Harvey. They kept insisting the 8/27 sailing of Liberty was going to happen.Up until either Friday night or Saturday morning, they kept insisting on sending people to the Galveston area. Basic research would have told them it would be impossible for people to even GET to Galveston since the only way to reach the island was UNDER WATER. They sent people into a disaster zone. Now they are attempting to possibly do it again? I don't get it.

MONEY! Cancel these cruises and issues refunds. I don't think they need to offer any discounts, just a refund would be all that's required and fair. I am sure a great deal of employees would love a little break...

  9. As a shareholder and avid cruiser of RCCL, the #1 reason for all decisions made is MONEY! Stop the BS about pax safety is 1st. It's very obvious they are creating a cruise to nowhere to keep from issuing refunds. We will hold off on calling & canceling the 7 day Allure sailing and hope the 4 day cruise to nowhere is canceled so we can get the refund we are entitled to. If they still won't, I will call my credit card company as a last ditched effort.

Sending anyone to S FL on Tues/Wed is insanity...If the city is not badly damaged and the port open, it will be gridlock on the roads heading south to FLL...let alone gas shortages along the way. Sometimes the only way to wake up the bean counters is to put the spotlight on them in the press.

  10. The system is broken that's for sure. Nobody wants to get involved and the criminals know this. The EASY fix would be like others have mentioned is update the CC terminals with chip readers. Not hard to do..it's nearly standard in Europe. Just wonder why they have all of these cameras in the terminals if nobody is watching them or will review something brought to their attention.

Beyond why scan a card when we setup the CC info online BEFORE the cruise? Seems to be redundant and would eliminate anyone skimming it at the terminal. Should be easy to implement a few changes to better safeguard everyone's data and credit cards.

  11. I can completely agree this happens all the time and all over the place....but what I am trying to find out if this was random or do we have others that recently cruised from MIA that also were skimmed? If we have more, than maybe we can get someone's attention at the terminal. If not, I'll let it go and move along, but will be much more cautious when I watch them with my card next cruise at ANY terminal.

Hopefully it's an isolated incident. But did post in the roll call to see if anyone else my cruise had the same issue.

  12. Yes, I always forget which card I've used. Also, don't forget to alert your credit card companies that you are traveling out of the country. I once had a Fraud call from my Royal Caribbean card bank about charges (daily tips) on a Celebrity (sister brand) cruise ship and they were shutting off the card. I had forgotten to contact the Card company.

The card was not used any other time except during checking at MIA. We never call the CC company b/c when Celebrity or any other cruiseline authorizes during embark it's a US based transaction and never has been declined.

  13. Never had that problem.

50+ cruises and we never had this problem before. But skimming is become a big issue in the USA. We know where the card was last used (embarkation) and that's why I went to social media was to see if anyone leaving MIA terminal also had this issue...

The MIA PD won't do anything b/c nothing was "stolen" and no money loss occurred. I contact MIA PD, MIA port authority, and the cruiseline. The ONLY party remotely interested in the compliant was Celebrity. But they even said that nobody would follow up....

  14. We have a card that we only use with cruises as it gives us zero charge on foreign transactions. It had not been used all year and the Next time it was swiped was checking in for our Amsterdam embarkation on silhouette last year. It was then used for multiple transactions in philadelphia whilst we were still on the baltics cruise. The fraud dept caught it and we worked with them whilst in Sweden. We always register with the card where we are going but it also uses dollars because of the cruise so they initially thought it was us. We got it all refunded and a new card was waiting at home with a new number but it made paying the cruise bill fun as the card had been closed down.

Clearly you had the exact same thing happen to you... Getting anyone that actually wants to look into the problem is the frustrating part. We are like waving our hands "hey, we have a potential problem" but nobody cares or wants to listen. Thus we are trying to see how many others have had this happen to them...

  15. I am confused. You say you got fraud alerts. Very familiar with them as twice our credit card info got hacked while on cruises (years ago). Those alerts, if valid, do indeed constitute a crime being committed - someone trying to use your credit card, that someone not being you. In both of our cases there was a criminal report filed by our credit card company, of which we provided specific information. We also had to review our monthly bills and report suspicious charges, which also got sent to the police authority investigating it (I am using vague language as I cannot remember what 'police authority' was investigating it, but I think it was federal).

It's also strange to me that they did not call you until the last day. They do not wait until the last day to bill credit cards - they do it intermittently during the cruise. That's how we found out one of ours was hacked - mid-way through the cruise they called us down as our credit card company was refusing to accept the charge (that was before good internet on cruises so we had no way to know they had put a hold on our card due to suspicious activity). Sounds like at best a bunch of mix-ups, at worst perhaps a crime.

We had an OBC so that may explain why they waited to call us about no card on file until the last day. We started getting fraud alerts after we returned home from the cruise. I would guess that you are not hacked/skimmed/etc and immediately they start charging your card. Probably takes them a few days to get the data sold to the thieves cards made etc.

  16. You might want to also post this on the roll call thread for your cruise - that's probably the mostly likely way to catch passengers that were in the port at the same time. The circumstances do sound strange, though if there are cameras in the port area, you'd think employees would know that and be smart enough not to try anything. Then again, those with criminal intent aren't always smart!

Also think about the last places you used the card before arriving at the pier - for example self-serve gas stations are notorious for credit card skimming. Is it possible the card was already compromised and on an alert and that's why the original swipe wasn't accepted?

Great suggestions. I will post in our roll call too. We went back and checked the usage every possible place. Different card for gas (company card). Maybe with a bit of luck I can either eliminate or build a case that warrants somebody looking deeper into this at MIA.

  17. Just curious if anyone else that cruised on the Equinox on 8/20 (or other dates) out of Miami had their credit card skimmed/stolen just after returning home?

We checked in 8/20 at MIA cruise terminal and remember a very nervous female agent assisting us. On the last day of the cruise, they called our room and asked us to come to the guest relations desk b/c they didn't have our CC on file...which we found very odd (never occurred before 50+ cruises). We both remember the card getting swiped during embarkation. Why didn't they have it? No biggie we thought. Gave them my card instead.

We get home, and immediately get 3-4 fraud alerts on wife's card that was scanned in MIA cruise terminal. The card was not used the entire week, and kept in the safe. So they cancel the credit card, and I decide to backtrack our usage and steps of where it most likely occurred.

I am very concerned that IF this occurred during check-in at the port, they also had our full passport info...not very reassuring. So I called the port of MIA, they tell me to call MIA PD to file a report. MIA PD declines to file one since a crime didn't actually occur....

I call Celebrity, spoke to a very nice concerned agent. They also said call MIA PD. She stated she would send a note internally to security to review complaint.

With all the cameras in that building, how hard would it be to review the footage for us? Well, apparently MIA port authority is not interested in pax safely...just passing the buck. They refused to look into the complaint.

IF ANYONE else on the forum had this happen recently sailing from MIA on the Equinox or other ship can chime we can maybe solve the mystery? If we have a group of victims, maybe we can get somebody's attention to actually check into a potential ongoing problem for other cruisers sailing from MIA.

Once again, I am only trying to find out if anyone else had this happen to them recently cruising from Miami cruise terminal. Some other possibilities exist, but we are starting with the strongest one first.

    Thank you

    Mark & Tracy

  18. Thank you!! That is exactly the information I was asking for. We booked the Mariner too (June), and as I'm researching the train from ANC to Seward, I just wanted to confirm it was not included as an airport transfer, and pre cruise hotel night w/bkfst in Anc or Seward. I'd love to hear about your trip and any tips you'd like to pass on!

You're welcome. The train would not be considered an airport transfer. They would only pay to shuttle you from Anchorage airport to Seward.

We are leaving May 18th-25th and are very excited to try Regent for the 1st time. We are avid cruisers with over 45 cruise on just about every mainline cruiseline.

Please book your shore excursions ASAP as we are wait listed for a few of ours. We booked 2 months ago and many of the excursions were fully booked, which was a disappointment. After the cruise we are staying 4 additional days in Denali on our own. Sounds like you are doing before your cruise from the sound of things (Train).

We did get the very nice Regent documents wallet with all the trimmings for our cruise. I don't think anyone knows what rate we paid except our TA.

I will write back after the trip if anything else was different b/c of the Interline rate.

  19. Do you suppose it's only those, or Firefighter, Military, Teacher, Police, EMT??

I was wondering about Interline as well... I fall into that category. I went to the Regent site to look at the ShoreEx and saw that in the Terms.

There is so little Interline info available (T's and C's) for each line. It's as if, no Interliners cruise and post information. Not their TA's of course, but Google-ing Interlining gets you listing, but no personal experiences. Nowhere..

I will call Regent Monday and ask.

We are currently booked on Regent Mariner to Alaska next month on an Interline rate. Here is what is NOT included in the INTERLINE RATE:

    1. No free airfare for any cat cabin

    2. No free hotel for any cat cabin

    3. No free airport transfers

Everything else is included just like a full fare paying PAX. We have our shore excursions booked and dining also. As always, not all excursions are free.

Hope this helps everyone that's able to book via the interline program. FWIW, not all sailings offer a savings, and price fluctuate too (ours just went up)

  20. Totally agree! Yes X "Save the Waves"

They should encourage guest to fill bottles with water vs buy them and toss them in the garbage. Instead, you are forbidden to fill water bottles...they are putting water filling stations in airports, dorms, and other places, why not on a cruise ship? Nobody is wrapping their mouth on these filling stations passing germs!

ARGHHHH. When we cruised Uniworld they gave us nice refillable insulated water bottle to reuse on the trip. Was a great feature. They had a nice bottle in the room with filtered water we could use to refill them or anywhere else on the ship as we pleased. No signs warning us to NOT fill our bottles.

  21. It's just as far from the front of the ship to the front elevators as it is from the aft of the ship to the aft elevators. Don't let that make your decision, go with cabins above! Aft!

I've been all the way forward and it is also extremely noisy in the AM when docking, anchoring etc. at least on solstice it was. . .

We changed cabins to the Aft cabin. It's crazy the ONLY cabin on Sept 22 sailing of Solstice you can book is the forward cabin we just released. ONE cabin left for the entire sailing? How often does this happen?

Thank you everyone for reassuring me this was the best choice. No worrying about any early morning gym rats waking us up...

  22. We have two choices. Need advice please. Penthouse Deck 11 Cabin 1502 which is all the way forward as high as you can go and partially under the gym...Or

Deck 11 Cabin 1654 which is almost all the way Aft. Rooms above us. Some shade.

Concerns are forward will be super windy and no privacy with the wing from the bridge. All the way back shady and longer walks to elevators.

Please chime in if you have been this far forward or aft on S class. Need to know ASAP as they are holding both for us!

    Thank you!
