  1. I take 2 large suitcases that I 'check in' and then i carry a small one to walk on ship with me (meds, swimsuit, change of clothes) in case I want to go to the pool or anything while waiting for the cabin to be ready. I always take 2 large ones because I end up going with one that is packed and one that is empty that I will fill with souvenirs or anything else I want to stick in there. That way the weight is distributed evenly for when I fly home.

  2. My friend will be going on her 1st cruise with me next month. She asked me today what would be easier, safer and the best to take. Good question. Last I sailed was 10 years ago and I really can't recall what I took. She has a credit card with a small limit ($400) so that isn't a lot for the week but then taking debit card to Mexico? Hmmm. Cash? Well, safe to walk around with cash? What do you guys think?

  3. I don't like Carnival at all. It's more of a party scene cruise. I find that since it is the cheaper priced cruise line, more young adults (teens, college age, etc) go on it. Can they just go to Mexico and stay in a resort for Spring/Fall break?

  4. DITTO.................the food is definitely disappointing

This is what I keep hearing. Quite disappointing to hear. It's my friends' 1st cruise so I'm sad that she won't be getting a good food experience

Any recent dining room menus? I keep finding some online but they are a few years old. I'm sure it's changed since then

  5. I don't know anything about Brilliance but I see your first cruise was the same as mine! We were also on it in 1996. Loved the Jubilee!

Jubilee. Worst cruise ever!!! 2 people died on the ship and over 95% of cruisers had food poisoning. My mom only saw 1 port since she was in the cabin the entire time. CNN was waiting at port doing a story on our ship when we got back. And Carnival's 'apology' to us? "here's a coupon for 5% off your next sailing with us". Never wanted back on that ship again. Swore to never go on Carnival ever again after that experience

  6. So, we are going on a cruise in January and apparently, the travel group that made reservations put us on the My Time Dining. I asked to be switched to Traditional. She got back to me and said she put it for us to MTD automatically because it was "probably sold out". Dining times sold out? Does this happen or is she pulling my leg?

I don't want MTD because I don't like that you prepay tips because I doubt I will eat in the dining room the entire 5 nights. Can I do something about that?

  7. e44eb7da3dba0531a8028098edbf1d20.jpg. I bought this one at Walmart in Maui for about $10 plus a pop up hamper for $5. I like this one as it is very light.

I use this to store my bottles and such; hair spray, suntan lotion, body lotion, hair brushes, etc. Anything you think of putting on a bathroom counter in a hotel i place in here. Then I don't have all my stuff and my friend's stuff crowding up the small bathroom. I love it

  8. 1) What camera and equipment do you take and what do you actually use? Camera equipment is heavy for sure. There isn't much room left in a carry on after a camera bag and a few lens. Forums

Nikon p900. I don't want to deal with changing lenses on my DSLR while I am enjoying my cruise and this camera is amazing.

    2) What is the best time of day for outdoor pictures? Forums

    easy; the Golden Hour!

    4) What settings are you using indoors? My pictures in "Auto" mode with the point and shoot were never clear. The color is always off. I assume this is a white balance issue. Forums

I will use Auto but I play around. I look at the indoor/party settings also. But I can always correct anything in the editing process afterwards.

    5) Auto ISO setting good or bad? Forums

Good especially if you can edit afterwards to make it better.

6 ) Are you using an external flash? Forums

    Nope, never

  9. If you decide to get an alcoholic drink, you can just pay the difference in price between the non-alcoholic version (which you get for free) and the shot of alcohol you'll add to it (which you'll pay for).

EDITED: Sorry, you already said you're buying the refreshment [emoji849] sorry for not reading properly

Ohhh, I thought I would pay for the entire drink (ie, if a margarita is $12 I pay $12). So you just pay the difference? Oh, that's even better. Yes, that package will definitely work better for me. Thank you. Glad I got that one.
