  1. Froots at Grand Turk has free Wifi as well. But if several ships are in, it gets really crowded and the speed can fall dramatically.

As for Amber Cove, since this is a private port owned by Carnival, I wouldn't count on any free internet near the port itself. And doing anything on your own is not very easy as the port is fairly remote. Last time we were there (only 2nd or 3rd ship to dock there, so it was brand new) there weren't even any taxi's available.

  2. Thanks a million, qsuzi!

Danielle has cancelled the reservation, so I can book with the new price myself. I'd like to have as few persons involved as possible as I'm a little paranoid when it comes to traveling, I've seen to many mistakes by travel professionals at work I'm a little control freak now :)

  3. Dear all,

Earlier this week, I've booked a cruise with HAL but haven't made a payment yet. The price was €2.600 and I'm going to the bank tomorrow to raise the limit on my credit card as the standard limit is 2.500.

However, I've just checked on the HAL site and the same cruise, same class (H) is only 2.100 right now. Is it possible that I book that room of 2.100 immediately and just let the one of 2.600 expire?

Payment for the one of 2.600 has to be done before Nov, 29.

Or will there be any fees when I don't put down a payment for the one I already reserved?

The room of 2.100 is a limited offer and has to be booked and paid for in full at the time of booking. I'd rather not go through HAL customer service via e-mail as it often takes them several days to reply and I'm not really interested in OBC. Calling them is not a real option either as I live in Belgium and all the number I've found are USA numbers.

Or is it an option to just send them an e-mail and tell them to cancel the booking for the 2.600 cabin?

Thank you for any help, I really appreciated it.

  4. I had the same problem two days ago when I wanted to book a cruise on the zaandam for March 2018. I tried it for hours and was stucked at the same booking step as you. It worked when I changed my language set up.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

    Ey keikobad, thanks a lot, you're a lifesaver!! :eek::D

For some reason, changing my language did the trick. I'll report this to HAL as it must be a coding error of the website.

Thanks again and happy cruisin'!

  5. That would be an option. Bit I prefer to do it myself.

I work in the travel industry and see a lot of fatal mistakes by travel agents. I know there are a lot of good onea out there as well, but I like to have control over my travels.

But if the problem persists, I will have to resort to it.

  6. Is anyone else experiencing any problems with booking a cruise through the HAL website?

I've been trying at different times now during the last 2 days to book a cruise for Jan, 13.

Everything goes ok until I get to the option regarding my dining preference.

No matter what I select (Open dining or assigned), the next step keeps loading and eventually, the site loops me back to the dining selection.

I've been trying different browsers and machines (desktop, laptop AND mobile  ), but I can not seem to complete the booking.

Calling HAL isn't an option since I don't live in the US.

Also, the website gives no warning that there is work in progress on the website.

  7. FLL is often a total mess on turn-around days, especially when multiple ships are in port.

Even with priority check-in it often took my over an hour to get from the curb to the gate. Given how small the terminal is, you'll understand this is a tremendous amount of time.

Registering for TSA Pre (I can not since I am not American nor live in the US) might save you some time but if you don't travel often, save the money and take a later flight.

  8. If you insist (no matter what reason) on traveling in on departure day, at least get an am arrival. There's just too many things that can go wrong. Even if everything goes smooth, you'll be stressing until you are on deck. Now that's not how you want to start your holiday, is it?

  9.

No more late-night burgers, except if you pay?:eek:

I also noticed those yummy thai rolls aren't on the menu anymore... That's a big step in the wrong way for me, I really, really liked them :(

Little question regarding that, will the burgers at the Dive-In itself still be free when you go collect them yourself?

  10. I did not have to attend the second muster drill when on a B2B last Feb. Even tough it was a Caribbean cruise through Ft. Lauderdale. So I have no idea what the rule is regarding this matter. Also, we did NOT have to leave the ship. The B2B guests had to line up to get their keycards scanned (and show their filled out custom form and passport or gov. ID)

  11. I'll be following this thread as well. I'm looking into some decent options, but a lot of the reviews I've read for the affordable (read under $200 a night) hotels are holding me off a bit. I'm traveling solo, so I'm not going to splurge on a 2 night pre cruise stay (arriving from Europe, so flying in early)

  12. I can also testify we could skip the muster drill for the second piece of the b2b.

We received a letter and the captain told it several times over the PA as well.

And when I left my room to enjoy the empty decks as others were doing the drill, I ran into my cabin steward and he told me as well:"You don't have to do the drill again, sir"

This was the fist time for me as well I wasn't required to attended the second muster drill, but I wasn't sure if this was implemented fleet wide or not.

  13. Don't be spooked about all these stories about "old" people on HAL. Yes, the average age is higher than most other lines, but nevertheless, there's always young people to find.

I took my first HAL cruise when I was 22. And 4 years later, I'm still taking at least one each year.

On none of those cruises have I never met someone roughly around my age.

No, there won't be a massive party with dozens of people in their 20's, but you can still have a good time. And in fact, the sports bar will attract the younger people around dinner time (before or after). It's also a good place to hang out with some of the entertainers. Last cruise, I had a wonderful time with some of the band members of BB King's Club and a few of the dancers.

Give HAL a try, and I'm pretty sure you'll be convinced. Unless you're looking for an over the top party crowd to hit the dancefloor every night.

  14. You absolutely do not need a visa for Monaco if you travel on an American passport. And even if travel on a passport that should need a visa and you're in the Schengen zone and thus have entered France, you'll be free to go in and out of Monaco as you please as both countries have an open border agreement (pretty much the same as the Schengen agreement).

Not sure what HAL's policy is on this, so your best shot is to contact them directly through their website or call them.
