  1. Hi CaseyKevin2000,

I have just received an email from Marella saying the above show has been cancelled and giving no reason. I called them but they said they didn't deal with excursions and gave me a website to visit then call. That proved to be for resort excursions only. They are useless. I won't know until after we get back in April if the refund has gone through.

  2. Thanks for all your replies. I was just asking about peoples experience on this subject. I saw our GP who could only tell me what I already knew about where Yellow Fever was in the area we are cruising to. I was interested in where we would be asked for a certificate as we had been to somewhere Yellow Fever is known to be, Columbia and Panama, and Jamaica is supposed to ask for a certificate but I haven't found anyone who experienced this. I went to our local travel clinic and was advised not to have the injection because of my age and they will provide an exemption certificate before we travel.

    Thanks again.

  3. We are going on the Discovery 2 in March 2019 for a back to back cruise to Cuba and the Panama Canal. I have seen no mention of the need for a Yellow Fever Vaccination for this cruise from Marella and that some cruise companies make it a requirement of boarding. I know that both Columbia and Panama have the virus and that some countries require a certificate upon entry. I am 70 and my wife is 69 and have never been vaccinated against these beasties and have been told there are risks at our age.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  4. In February 2018 we went on a back to back cruise on Marella Discovery to the Caribbean. It was a great cruise but at the start, as we were registering, I was told that if I used my Credit Card I would be charged 2.5% on top so I used a Debit Card. At the time I was under the impression that had been stopped by legislation in the UK but Marella couldn't help me on that one.

Has anyone come across this problem in the past year.

    Thanks for any replies.

  5. We have been offered a trip to Japan in September 2018 which includes several hotel stays and a cruise on the Diamond Princess. We have been on her before and she is a lovely ship. Has anyone been in Japan at this time of year?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.:)

  6. Thanks for your input Campolady. We have done a few cruises and always take inside cabins because we don't spend much time in there preferring to take advantage of the various lounges the ships offer. However, we have never been on a ship where the cabin wasn't wide enough to take a double bed and two bedside cabinets. We shall have to resort to two single beds.

Thanks again for you helpful reply.

  7. We are booked on the Discovery to the Caribbean for two weeks starting on January 21st and was surprised to read on one of the latest reviews that one of the cabins close to our cabin, we are in 7003, had a double bed but not enough room to accommodate two bedside cabinets. They had to change to two single beds because of having to climb over the person on the outside if they needed to get out of the bed. Has anyone been on any of the inside cabins on Deck 7?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  8. I have looked at the Indonesian Embassy website and it states that there is no visa required for UK and Irish visitors as a short stay visa is free. When there is 2015 on a cruise we had to pay US$35 each. Has anyone been there on a cruise lately and what is the position now?
