Thanks to all on the subject of the Aurora Buffet. We have not sailed with P&O before so we shall have to wait until we get on board and see how good or bad it is.

Thanks for the reply. We travel a lot so world food is very welcome. We usually find the buffet satisfies our needs.

We are going on a cruise from Singapore to Sydney on the Aurora in February 2017 and as we are not lovers of the main restaurants we usually use the buffet. Can anyone let us know what the food in the buffet on the Aurora is like?
Thanks.

I drink my coffee strong and black so milk is not an issue. However, I do like it to taste like coffee. On Princess the coffee is from syrup so is not very good whereas on Thomson and Holland America the free coffee was made from freshly ground beans and was very good.

We are going from Singapore to Sydney next March on the Aurora. I am an ardent coffee drinker and am assuming that free coffee is available on the Aurora for most of the day. Is it of a decent quality?
Thanks for any help.

My wife and I have just booked a trip on the Aurora for February 2017 travelling from Singapore to Sydney. Has anyone travelled this route? We chose this route because it travels down the West and South coasts of Australia. Our last trip there was going up the East coast of Australia.
What is this ship like?
Any advice would be helpful.

Everyone is different. The package costs $112 for two people which is far less than what you tip. For us the $112 is not something to be worried about. We each make our own decisions for what we want.:):)
Good point Husky61. However, we are on the Sapphire Princess out of Singapore next week for 15 days and the drinks package costs 50 US Dollars per person per day.
Happy New Year.

<Taking our first cruise. Wondering if it's worth the unlimited drink package. It covers drinks up to $10? How much is a decent class of wine or Bloody Mary! .? Thanks for any help>
We decided not to take the drinks packages as we are not heavy drinkers. I have seen it worked out that to get your moneys worth you need to drink seven drinks a day if you are on an American ship and nine drinks a day if on a British ship.

Try leaving a message on the roll call asking to arrange a meeting on the first day of your cruise. I believe Princess can help with a meeting room.

Arcadia Dad
I do like my coffee in the morning before I get up.
Do they provide Tea and Coffee? Too much to ask I suppose but we always bring our own anyway.
We did the Diamond Princess from Sydney to Singapore in March this year but no kettle. The food was good though.
Looking forward to January and our trip.

As quoted by Arcadia Dad. Is this real? A kettle would be very nice.
(And a kettle in the stateroom. )

Thanks for your reply.
As I do in many cases I shall probably bring my own coffee. It might be instant but it will taste better then the Syrup. I like a good cup of coffee before I get up in the morning so will have to go to the Lido and make my own. Sad really!

We spent three weeks on the Diamond Princess in March this year and one criticism was the coffee. I am a coffee drinker, drinking it black and strong with no sugar so I think I know a good coffee. On the Diamond the coffee was from Syrup and apart from being weak was not the best tasting. Does anyone know what coffee is like on the Sapphire Princess as we are going on board in January 2016. I am talking about the coffee in the Lido.
Thanks for any help.

I am sure that I read somewhere that the wardrobes on the Diamond Princess have no doors. Can anyone verify this?
Thanks

We are stopping in Nha Trang and Saigon. We are joining some other passengers for a private tour in Nha Trang and will probably take a ships excursion in Saigon. I don't want to have to pay the visa twice.

We will soon be off on a cruise on Diamond Princess from Sydney to Singapore. We have two stops in Vietnam. Princess will provide a visa for Vietnam when we get there but they don't say whether it is multiple entry. Anyone got any info on this.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for all the good wishes. We are so looking forward to this trip.

Thanks for all your help folks. The Land and Sea trip looks just right. Less than 2 weeks to go. Hooray!

The FZ200 has a focal length of 600mm but with some form of technology that has little or no effect on the quality of the picture taken this can be extended to 1200 and then to 2400 with the digital zoom. You need a good steady hand for the 1200.

I have been looking at the HAL site for weeks and on the shore excursions it had a 7 hour trip to Hollywood Beach and a transfer to Miami airport on the day we are flying back to London, February 8th 2015. Ou flight is at night. I went online today to book this excursion and it is no longer there. Has anyone any idea why? We are going to be in Miami airport for a long time.

I saw a copy of the room service breakfast menu and it had Cranberry juice on it so I assume it is also in the restaurant.

I got fed up trying to carry heavy equipment around while travelling and after trying several Superzoom cameras I settled on the Panasonic FZ200 and it is brilliant. Pretty good pictures and great video, including slow motion video as well as respectable burst mode. It can do more than I will ever need it to do. The zoom goes up to 1200 but you will need some way to steady the camera at that zoom.
Hope this helps.

Lammy1952,
Great information on the ship we are going to call home from January 25th for two weeks. Can you confirm that they do not provide trays in the Lido restuarant.

We are on the Nieuw Amsterdam for two weeks from Jan 25th and the nurse who advises us on travel shots has made us aware of the Chikungunya virus which she says appears to be quite common in the Caribbean. Has anyone any first hand information on this beasty?
Roll on the 25th.

Does anyone know the times of the shows in the evening on the Aurora?
We are on there in February from Singapore to Sydney.
