We’re on the Anthem and we had dinner at Wonderland tonight. We were really looking forward to it because we love trying unique foods. But the experience was totally underwhelming. The food was just...not good. They spend a lot of time on presentation but very little on flavor. Everything was bland and under seasoned. And a lot of it was spicy and still somehow under seasoned. Hard to pull that off.

We thought pretty much all the appetizers were below average in flavor. They were nothing I’d ever order again or even think about wanting to eat again. The main courses were better. The chicken was nice and tender and my daughter liked that and the bronzino was decent. The pork belly good. And the deserts were good. But again, nothing I’d ever seek out or write home about.

It was just all rather unremarkable. Is this normal or did we just happen to go on a bad night? I guess food is subjective so perhaps no one can say. But I know good food and this wasn’t it.

We went on Harmony. I feel like it's more about the experience and the weird food versus the taste. There is no need for us to go again. Having said that, the shrimp kafifi was delicious. Ours is not a popular opinion but it's ours nonethekess, I also think costal kitchen is highly over rated.

I bid and was upgraded from an obstructed balcony on the Anthem of the Seas holiday 8 day

to a Sky Loft for much less than a junior suite. Free wifi, access to the concierge lounge (free drinks

from 4:30 to 8pm) bottle of champagne for new years. Plus all the other perks for me that was a great

    deal

May I ask how much per person was your accepted bid?

  3. We have a TA that we have used for the last 3 cruises. This last timevmy DH dealt with him. I do not like giving up the control when booking directly with Royal. However, when shopping around for a TA online or otherwise this multi product company offered the best additional perks..... Bottle of champagne, dinner for 2, lunch for 2 and between $250 and $300 OBC. But his response times are horrible and this drives me bananas (I know first world problem) he doesn't reply all to our emails, both DH and I have asked him to. This last cruise we searched for the best additional perks and this was the best. He told my husband we would get an additional $250. When he sent new docs it was $50, hubby had to go over his head... He had email documentation. The manager claims it will be taken care of. This weekend our room is $400 cheaper, we made final payment so I doubt we can take advantage of price reduction but I emailed TA anyway. I got a sorry out of office response till Wednesday. Everyone deserves time off but who is handling things in your absence? Next crusie regardless of the perks, I will not be using this company or TA again.

  4. I chipped a tooth this year in the middle of the cruise when biting down on food. I went to see the Dr, they gave pain meds which I didn't use. They called to check on me multiple times, gave me a percentage of OBC, paid dental bill when I returned and gave a percentage off next cruise. Both percentages off were either 10 or 20.

Looking back probably but hindsite is 20/20 but you are right.

Maybe for the better. Police reports would have probably mucked up my honeymoon. Still disappoint in how RC handled it though.

Getting sexually assaulted should have mucked up your honeymoon. You also said your honeymoom was ruined. Sexual assault is very serious. You seem more upset at royals response, or lack there of, then the actual assault.

I feel like I need to get my story out because I am fuming right now. Excuse the rant.

I went on Serenade of the sea on nov 19th for my honeymoon with my wife. We were trying to stay active on the ship and on the 2nd or 3rd day of going to the gym and sauna, I was sexually assalted in the showers. Running out I mention in detail what had happened and the name of the perpetrator to spa staff, and what had happened. In a fluster I head back to my room to relax and try and cope with what had happened. Expecting a call to my room I hung about for a while longer and nothing. No call no follow up. End of the cruise rolls around and I mention it in my follow up survey. Royal Caribbean does an “investigation” and informs me that they cannot do anything because “spa staff did not tell guest services staff.” Noreen (the wonderfully helpless surveyor) also let me know that they will make sure that they remind staff to report these kind of things. So my honeymoon was fair to say ruined, and you will make sure to remind staff....... thanks that solved everything I suddenly feel better. #sarcasm. I will never sail with Royal caribbean again.

Sorry this happened to you. When you didn't hear from anyone on the 3-7 day, you didn't think to go to guest services or back to the spa?

Never had that issue but I would definitely make a written report to both the cruise lines and Homeland Security.  An abusive crew member like that may be more of a danger to children than the incidents your kids describe suggest.  Here at home, let your kids make their own statements to authorities, both in writing and in person.  They sound like responsible, confident kids; use this as a learning experience for them in how to react to such threats.  I know others may say that U.S. authorities can't do anything but I don't believe that is entirely true.  In any case, the effort you put forth in helping and educating your kids will pay dividends.

Good luck to you and your family.

Homeland security???? Based on his scant details of what actually occurred you suggest homeland security??????.?

    WOW

    Typically 1pm to 1:30pm.

On our cruise in Nov. Several of us were waiting on our floor for the doors to open. A young woman, in her late twenties, who was very much into herself pushed through all of us waiting and gets to the closed door. Then she goes to the other side and does the same thing. She then very loudly asks the man with. Well where are the rooms, I don't see them. We all let out a collective sigh and shook our heads.

We are also locked into one specific week for cruising with the family and I would be very upset about this. This is the reason we have ended up on Carnival ships so many times. Seems like they are often the only available option for our week.

For those of you who are thinking that they should just take the kids out of school. Our school district refers all cases to the county and you must go see a judge after six absences in a school year. Does not matter that your child is a straight A student as mine is or what they missed that time for unless they have a Dr's note. I have yet to find a doctor who will issue notes for cruises, but I am still looking.

As a teacher who values education, there is something very wrong with your state and school district. That reporting is beyond ridiculous and an extreme waste of someone's valuable time. Yes there are cases that need reported but 6 absences is not one.
