  1. I lost a lot a weight about three years ago on WW. I noticed it started creeping back so last December I decided to devise a plan that I could live with so I could both take the weight off and keep it off without the up and down cycle that has been my life lol. I should also mention that I cannot exercise because of many back surgeries. I really need to take care.

I devised a combination of what I learned from WW with a low carb, high lean protein lifestyle. Let me tell you. I wish I had figured this out earlier in my life. Once I got over my sugar and bread addiction it has been great going. At the start, I did a lot of seafood for about a week. I still have one piece of Rye toast in the morning with a poached egg. I eat berries but a measure the fruits and limit those a little. I am not hungry with eating more protein. I watch my portions. I do have some frozen yougart if I'm craving a treat and I do have a mini cheat meal about every two weeks but nothing fried. I think I finally found something that I can live with. I cannot have even an extra ten pounds on me because my back is very sensitive to extra weight so that helps my motivation. This is the first time that I focused on low card and portions and have forgotten about the calories and it works!

Three months and a few weeks and back in my small clothes. Not going back. Feeling like a new me and I don't feel like I am even dieting. I can live with this and not feel like I Am missing out.

So for sure, for me anyway, low carb is the way to go!

  2. I wanted this too but also noticed it was not on the drinks pre order menu. Even the water package disappeared for a while but at least we got that ordered. I might call princess for my pop. I was also thinking of just grabbing a six pack of Diet Coke before we get on and putting it in my carry on which is allowed. I like having cold pop in my room too!

  3. The first cruise is always so special. We were hooked! So happy to hear how you loved the Regal! We are on the Royal this month and the Regal for March of next year! Our goal is to try every Princess ship! That being said though, I think we may fall in love with the Royal and the Regal after hearing such wonderful things!

  4. Oh yes yes, I can relate! Are you prone to ears hurting when you travel by airplane? Could be a problem with inner ear that the doc cannot see. I had such vertigo my first cruise. It was just like being on the ship for crying out loud. The only thing I can tell you is every cruise it got better and better to where I only have it for a day after...not near as severe as the first one for sure. If it continues I would perhaps talk to your doc about ear problems. My dad cannot fly at all because of terrible ear problems. Eras have a lot to do with balance. Worth a talk with the doc.

  5. I finished work early, at 45 due to countless back surgeries. My husband is a year and a half younger than myself (I am 55) but he is very much looking forward to his 55 th birthday in summer of 2017. He will be at his job for 38 years ( he was hired right out of high school) with the govt. He is ready now but he will lose too much of his monthly pension if he goes early. I am looking so forward to him being around more and more time to travel! Life is too short!!

  6. Never got sick until Last cruise and it was the last couple of days. I think when you are amidst thousands of people you may catch something if your immunity is a little off. I was very careful with lots of hand washing etc. I guess it's one of the risks we take with cruising. This year I'm going to take these oils that my daughter suggested to me..She is a nurse and was sick all the time from working in emerg until she started using them. I also find the oils useful for migraines etc.. I am very sceptical of natural cures but I have had good experiences with this..

  7. When I think of it, a cruise ship would be easy pickings for a pickpocket..Everybody is relaxed and having your wallet stolen would be the last thing on your mind. Most people are honest. It's the few that aren't that really makes a person jaded. I hope it turns up for you.

  8. When we did our first cruise I did a lot of reading and research on it. It was enjoyable to do so. With any holiday land or sea based I have done this, especially with new countries that we visit. It's always good and interesting as well to find out everything you can. It's your life and money.

  9. The crew still gets the gratuity. It is a promotion. I got the free gratuity and a better cabin and free dinner at one of the pay restaurants for our 2017 cruise. Along with a 30 percent discount it was a great deal. I asked my Princess travel agent about this when I booked and she assured me that the staff gets the gratuity as if we paid it but it is paid by Princess..So no worries. We even take small cash amounts to tip here and there for service ubove and beyond. I know there is already a tip added but this is what I do. What everybody else does is their business.

  10. We rent a clamshell every time we hit the cays. We have never had a problem with friendly service at all. Once you get to the beach there will be a stand and when you turn in your ticket you can get one of the fellows to unfold your clamshell on the beach in your choice of location. They are covered so there is 100 percent protection from the sun and some privacy too. Once it is set up you are just steps from the beach so you can swim and snorkel at your desire! Enjoy!

  11. We have a mini every cruise for the last five.. The glasses of champagne show up within a few minutes to around departure time. The only reason I love a mini is the bathtub! It does have a little extra space and an extra tv but that's about it. We only cruise once a year because we have to travel from Canada so we get a mini. Once hubby retires in 2017 we will cruise more often but may have to get a less expensive room but as long as I'm on the boat it's all good!!

  12. My husband and I always visit the travel clinic, sponsored by our health department. They look up where you are going and what shots you need and if you are sensitive or allergic to some shots there are alternatives.. Keep in mind though, lots of folks get the flu shot and it does not work. You can still get the flu. A lot of people I know don't care about any shots because it is expensive. I think this is crazy. The travel clinic usually has flu shots as well.

  13. I noticed so many dressed to the nines women leaving the toilet without so much as trying to wash their hands it was disturbing. I was so careful on our last cruise to wash and sanitize but got sick my last few days. If you don't want to follow simple rules on a cruise ship then why do you go on a cruise at all? To complain that you have to wash your hands is ludicrous. Some folks think the rules are never for them.

  14. In regards to the question about slot tournaments...I entered one and it was my husband who got the email for the casino discount. One more thing to consider that we thought about is this is our yearly big trip so we do spend a lot on the ship on other stuff so perhaps they look at that too.

  15. We are Canadian and funny story, We have been on 5 cruises with Princess. Our last cruise I went in one slot tournament for 20 or 25 dollars. That was the extent of the gambling. My husband did not. He got the casino offer in the email for the discount. We laughed. I think I will probably go in a slot tournament on the next cruise because this discount saved us big time on our next two cruises, especially when you combine it with another Princess special.

  16. You can take my two cents with a grain of salt but please be ever so careful about giving information to anyone. These internet fraudsters are getting very clever and with a little information plus say a facebook account they can do a lot of things. For your own protection please make sure that it is truly Princess. Even when you fill out contest forms on line from reliable companies they can sell you contact info, etc. I'm over 50 and I sometimes miss the days when life was a little less digital lol

  17. I think if you are taking a back to back that counts as two cruises then yes but if you don't get plat. until you are finished then no. We were on a 14 day back to back and moved up a level on the 7th day. They changed even the door tag that has your level on it.

  18. The best way to find out about discounts is to give one of the Princess travel agents a call. There seems to be no solid pattern on who or why one gets this. We do not spend much in the casino but we do book every year, usually at least 14 day and we spend a lot on the ship!! We also always book a mini suite and my husband thinks it is more what we spend than the casino...lol.

The casino discount seems to be valid on any cruise up to 3-20 days if you have it..We got an email 2 days before we booked our 2016 one.

  19. Our experience with this is...I played in only one slot tour on our last cruise. I was notified by email that we had casino discounts until Dec of this year for select 9 to 15 day cruises. We booked for 2016 and got half off of our fare because there was a presidents days sale on and we used our discount.

This weekend, we decided to look at 2017 specials and see if we could get the same sort of deal with the current 3 for 1 special. We did and booked for 200 down, got a upgrade closer to the center for the aft price and 25 percent off as well as free gratuities. Its a great deal. Our next two cruises are half the price we paid on the last few.

If you can get the casino discount and combine it with a sale the savings are amazing. I'll have to remember to go do the slot tournament on the next cruise as well!

  20. We were on the same cruise. We were aware it was two cruises combined because of the return to Florida in between. We found the food great and the service was wonderful with the exception of trying to get a drink in some of the lounges. I think some of the wait-staff was new. They would only serve one table at a time so we went to the bar and got our own.

We don't cruise because of the food at all. I enjoyed it very much however! We cruise to spend time together, get out of our harsh weather and to explore the world. We did do the movies under the stars but we never do the shows as it just isn't our thing to fight for a spot at them lol.

For us, it was a wonderful, fun, relaxing vacation. We met a lot of very nice folks as well. Just another point of view!
