  1. Thank you every one ! The surgery was completed successfully , and Pat's in recovery !! :) :D

I'm very glad to hear Pat's surgery has been completed successfully! Hope her recovery goes well.

Joe, take your time here. We will be waiting when you are able to get back. I know you will take good care of Pat during her recovery.

  2. I'm thrilled to have found a new Gambee review! Thank you for posting the link on your older reviews. I'm still subscribed, so I got the link in my email and have spent a good part of the afternoon and evening reading. You are off to another great start, and I'm looking forward to following along the rest of the way. Even though I'm one of those people who are not planning to sail on the Victory any time soon, I am very much enjoying the chance to see her through your eyes - and your camera lens!

  3. We were in St Pete 2 weeks ago.

Our SPB tour guide told us that signs were starting to be put in English now, as they realised that a great deal of their income came from tourism. It is the guides themselves who have pushed for it, St Pete has taken it on board, Moscow less so. One of the guides teaches English during the winter months( Oct- April)

Thanks for the info, Jackie. I did look back at some of Joe's other pictures that included signs, and did notice the English translations on them as well. I know if I went to St Pete, I would definitely find it helpful.

Joe, I hope those antibiotics are clearing up Pat's infection. I'm sure you both want to be on the recovery side of this surgery instead of waiting for it to happen.

  4. Thanks Denise . The SPB Metro was the first one that we rode , followed , by the tube , the U-bahn in Munich and the Metro in Moscow . While we never felt at risk , perhaps ignorance is bliss ? We're happy that you liked SPB , but we realize that it's not for everyone .

The surgeon was not satisfied with the oral antibiotics progress , so Pat was admitted to the hospital today for a round of stronger IV antibiotics . We're looking for a Monday surgery date if things go as planned . ;) I hope to post some photos and then head back to the hospital to tuck her in for the night . :)

I'm sorry to hear that Pat is still fighting the infection, but I am really glad her DR is making sure it is all cleared up before proceeding with the surgery. Hopefully once the infection is gone, the surgery will go smoothly. I will continue to be sending thoughts and prayers your way for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

I was surprised to see the English translations on the sign where the boat tours started. I'm wondering how many other signs like that one you may have seen. I loved the submarine in the river.

  5. Thanks Mic , sorry we're becoming increasing frustrated at this point . They cancelled surgery this morning as infection as set in . :( Antibiotics , and see the Dr. tomorrow morning . If it looks OK , she'll be the third surgery of the afternoon tomorrow .

That's been pretty good until the Dr. insert a large bore needle in her knee joint to remove a large hematoma yesterday ! I'm used to preforming medical procedures on others , but not seeing it on my wife ! :(

Oh,no! I hope Pat's antibiotics have been working well so she will be ready for surgery in the morning. I give you a lot of credit for being able to watch the hematoma removal proceedure. I could watch it being done to someone else, but I'm not sure I could watch something like that being done to my husband.

The last church pictured was spectacular! If I ever get to St Petersburg, I will be sure to see it. I think I'd want to skip the crowds at the military parade, though. It looked like you had a great time with your Russian friends. :D

  6. Thanks Nancy , we hope that all is well with you and that your recovery is well underway and complete . We do think that diving would be good for Pat so , after surgery , 2 weeks confinement in bed for healing purpose and PT - we will look into the dive option .

Yeah , London , San Miguel ( Cozumel ) , and St. Petersburg are our 3 favorite cities - so far . We were surprised that we would like SPB so much . But after our 2 day cruise there , we felt hurried and that we missed a lot , and so we wanted to return and stay . We have also made some nice friends there ( like on cruises ! ) , and it's always nice to see friends !! :) :D

Recovery is going well. I still have some restrictions on activities to be sure I do not dislocate the hip that was just replaced, and my stamina is not yet back to normal, but overall I am really pleased with my new hip. I have my second post surgery visit with my surgeon on Thursday, so I am anxious to see what he thinks, both about if I'm ready for diving yet (he is a diver, so he knows what is required to be physically ready) and also what he wants to do about my knees.

As I said yesterday, I hope Pat's surgery goes well on Wednesday, her recovery and rehab go smoothly, and she is back underwater in no time.

  7. If you enjoy the thread , it may be good news . We had hoped to finish it within 3 weeks , before we left for our next cruise . But it may run longer now . My wife slipped and fell yesterday , landing on her left Patella ( kneecap ) , breaking it into 3 pieces . We are getting ready to meet with the surgeon in an hour or two , and we fear that our trip may be in jeopardy. :( We'll update and continue when we return home .

Thank you , we have a repair scheduled with the surgeon next week .

Oh, Pat, I am so sorry to hear about your knee injury! Since I'm catching up here, I see that you have already been to your surgeon and have done all the necessary pre-op work, and have the surgery scheduled for Wednesday. I will be thinking of both of you on Wednesday and sending thoughts and prayers your way. I know you both were looking forward to your scheduled CB cruise, but I'm sure there will be many wonderful cruises waiting for you once you are back on your feet again.

Now, on to your Eclipse TR updates! I had no idea you two had spent so much time in St Petersburg! It is a destioation that is not currently on my travel wish list, but I am looking forward to seeing it through your eyes. Who knows, after my virtual St Petersburg vacation, I may even find myself adding it to my bucket list of places I want to visit in real life. It wouldn't be the first time I added a destination based on a virtual tour! So far, you've got my interest!

  8. I am really enjoying your tour of the English countryside. Every time I come up with what I think is my favorite picture, though, I go on to the next post and find one I like better. My winner at the moment is that adorable sheep! I guess that's the animal lover in me speaking because the rest of the pictures are pretty incredible, too!

I'm surprised at how much ground you seem to be covering on this tour. I wouldn't have thought that the places you have visited were close enough together to be able to get to all of them in one day.

  9. Hi everyone.

Holidays now, and I am trying to relax a bit.

It has been almost a year but I took te model Voyager out of the box again, and I see it needs to return to the model shipyard. Not only for a cleaning, but the paint I used for the Viking crown and radar mast became a bit yellow. Very stange, it was a new can but the same brand Levis. The Voyager was the last model I built using paint brushes as I only use spray paint now for way better results. I also noticed RCI has added a new restaurant on top of the bridge. Sorry to say, it does not look good at all, and I will not make this change to the model.

So I will paint those parts again, and the model needs another cleaning. Sad how it always sits in a box.

But I want to take it to the lake again one of these days, and make some more video.

Iwas shocked to see the utube video "RC voyager of the seas" has been seen almost 150000 times, OMG!!!!!!

But Ihave further news on model cruise ships. Someone was so kind to send me the plans for the Disney cruise ships (first generation) which I always wanted to make. I have to complete some other things first but very likely I wil start another thread with "little disney Wonder" and start all over again.

    John

I would love to see what you would do with the Disney Wonder! At present, Disney is the cruise line we have sailed on the most. However, should you decide to do the Oasis, I'd love to see that, too, since she is the ship we are sailing on next. Actually, I'm fascinated with your work, and will follow whatever ship you decide to build! :D

  10. Thanks Nancy , we're glad that you're still with us and didn't Floataway like some people did ! That's the main purpose of this travelogue - to take people along with us on a cruise ( and for some people , to remember their cruise ) . Hopefully , we can finish this port today . :) :D

LOL, no I didn't Floataway. Actually, I wondered if you did because I haven't seen you there in a while. I was hoping you might show up there with some Cozumel dive pics instead of posting them here so this thread wouldn't Floataway like your CB thread did!

BTW, I do know you have this review to finish, and another TA to get ready for, so no pressure on the dive pics!

I still have no idea when our next trip will be, so I'm really enjoying my virtual cruise with you. I also second the vote to include your post cruise time in London and St Petersburg. :D

  11. Our first cruise to Falmouth, we hustled off the ship and bought tickets for the trolley that provides a narrated tour throughout Falmouth. Gave us an overview of the town. It's a pretty inexpensive way to see the town.

This trolley tour sounds like something we would like. Is there somewhere we can find out more about it? We would really like to find some things to do near the port. It's not beacuse we think badly about Jamaica, we just don't want to spend our day riding around in a bus! We aren't much into food tours either, just not our thing.

  12. Disney!

No need to feel out of place on a Disney ship with no kids. There are a lot of adults who cruise Disney without kids, including us!

Disney has a different Halloween tree for each ship. They do Halloween storytelling, and the decorations on the tree "magically" appear over the course of the cruise. A lot of people dress up, and they go all out on the costumes. There are special activities for adults, as well as for kids, and Halloween themed movies shown throughout the cruise. The characters even appeared in their Halloween costumes. I don't recall, though, if there were any special menu items....

Two of the Disney cruises we have been on have been Halloween cruises. I was afraid at first that it might be a bit too much, or interfere with normal cruise activities, but my fears were unfounded. I thought the balance between Halloween and regular cruise activities was just right.

  13. Great bathroom! It seems larger than most of the cruise ship bathrooms I've seen. I know we would appreciate the space.

I'm not sure if it's part of the aging process , but I don't have the sweet tooth that I used to .

Funny, that hasn't happened to me. I'm with Mic on the desserts! I have no idea how I have managed to not gain weight on our cruises because all I have to do is look at food at home and I'm packing on the pounds.

  14. I wonder when the discovery channel is going to debut "Chair Hog Week". Very few human animals get up as early as the chair hog whilst on vacation. 😈

I think perhaps "Chair Hog Week" could combine very nicely with "Shark Week". :D

We sure did and at a great price too ! We have found a lot of places , like Lisbon , that we return to and sometimes stay at and visit pre or post cruise . Just last night , we just returned from a week at our most frequently visited cruise port - Cozumel , where our oldest grandson certified in SCUBA . :) :) :D Maybe now I can get back to editing and uploading some photos !

I'm glad to hear your trip went well. I was just over on your other thread requesting a dive report.

Your aft view pictures are beautiful. I am not sure when I'm going manage to schedule it yet, but I don't think I can wait until our Oasis cruise in Nov 2016 to see that view again for myself!
