  1. I used to love going in the water, i love the beaches in Aruba, however, since they got this giant dip down to get in, getting out was always a problem, i would need some big beefy muscle men to help me,, Anyway, i use a scooter now, so walking is a big problem, however, my heart and head, just want to feel the water, is it hard to get into the magans bay,, than ,i would love to scooter around and do a little shopping,, any suggestions ? :loudcry:

  2. The most you can buy is a 7 meal package that can be used to dine at specialty restaurants.

If you like to try a lot of different food, then Food Republic is my first choice. Unfortunately, it does not accept the SDP for payment. You pay a la carte. Open for lunch and dinner.

On the Escape, we have used our SDP (with a small upcharge) to have lunch at Pinchos Tapas Bar (kept ordering small plates until we had to roll off our stools). And you could use it at Margaritaville for lunch too.

If offered, the Supper Club cabaret serves a wonderful 5 course tasting menu with around a dozen different items. And some great music to dine by.

Other dinners at the Supper Club are 3 course complimentary meals served with guest performers. Those sell out really quickly, but do not take a SDP credit.

You have to do the math, sometimes the cost of the dining page (per meal) plus the upcharge is more expensive than just booking a show like Wine Lovers or Supper Club Cabaret and paying cash.

what exactly is the wine lovers or supper club Cabaret, is that only certain nites? if you have the dining option, how much does it cost extra, just vs outright paying for it ?

  3. i also have the dining plan - 3 special ,, i want cagneys, la cucuia and suggestion for 3rd one is ??? Also another question,, what and when to book, days at port or doesn't make a difference.. i definitely want to do a massage maybe husband also, is that best to do when out ports , ( they offer discounts at that time, yes ? )

  4. Don't know when your cruise is, but 90 days prior is when reservations open up for the main entertainment shows, which are the Brat Pack and After Midnight as well as specialty dining reservations. More specific information about the shows and the optional dining venues are located on myncl.com. Below is a link from a post I did on my roll call explaining about the other entertainment options that are free that you will need to make reservations once you get on board. As a side note, you can eat breakfast in one of the two smaller MDR's and you can eat lunch there on sea days and embarkation day as well. And since you will be getting on early with the wheelchair people, you should be able to obtain Vibe passes at Headliners lounge. Just ask your escort to wheel you there. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=53230498&postcount=190
we are flying into FLL in Dec. our arrival time is 9:30 am , than we will have to get to Miami Port, so don't think I'll be boarding that early, ( intime to get that vibe pass anyway ) Oh Well, will try.. I'm trying to figure what would be best for us to do as far as eating dinner and where.. usually that first night for us, we are tired and tend to go to bed early,, not sure , is there a charge for the supper club and what exactly is it . Suggestion ?
  5. I forgot to ask, as far as breakfast , is your only choice the buffet, or can you go to the main dining room,, I just know its hard in a scooter and a tray of food, than find a sit,, i think i rather just be served, will give it a try , it looks amazing.. Ditto on lunch, if you are by pool, can u get a burger or something, or do u have to go to buffet also , As i said alot to learn and homework to do.. thanks :D

  6. Your tips include pretty much everyone...bartenders, servers, your steward , the bus boy. So prepaying those means you don't have to tip. Now if you are staying in the Haven, you have to tip your butler and the concierge (as you see fit) as they are not included in the tip pool you already paid. That said, we always tip our steward more (I usually give some on day one and more on the last day depending on service), they are in your room multiple times a day, and we have chatted with ours quite a bit and I see how hard working they are, so I personally think they deserve a bit more. I have brought ones for bartenders, but have never felt pressured to tip them on top of the pre-paid gratuities, and I have never felt I got faster or slower service due to tipping or lack of.

Most meals take about 90 minutes. So if shows are at 7:30 and 9:30, plan accordingly plus time to get to the show and get seated. We find it hard to make it to shows, and we tend to eat early and go to bed early...

Thanks so much, as chances are, hate to say, we also will probably be hitting the bed early also..lol.. we want to get the spa passes,,being handicapped, just to difficult for us to get the vibe passes,, do you know if there is any area of the spa, where maybe you can relax on a lounger in the sun also,, from these forums I'm reading, seems like the general areas , sun decks and public, get so packed, I can't deal with that either,, we like to just relax, eat well and maybe enjoy a show and than relax , glass of wine.. etc... lol.. Thanks again for your help

  7. I am very new to NCL and haven't cruised in 25 years,, Anyway, your review was very helpful. Can u be clear on the tips, i prepaid them when i made reservation, I have the FBP .. So when exactly do i have to give additional tips ? Im very confused on a lot ( DUH ) , What is good time to dine if I don't want to miss any of these shows, which we are a older couple, ( handicapped ) .. I'm filled with tons of questions, I will be doing my homework. Thanks again

  8. if you have the weekly spa pass, do they have ( spa area ) where if you want you can sit outside and get a little sun, or do you have to go to those public areas ? I enjoy some sun,, but got to make sure i have a sit or lounger , any suggestions or answers ?

  9. The Spa on the Escape is beautiful. If you are looking for a quiet and tranquil experience you may be disappointed. I had reserved a Spa Pass on the Escape last May (prior to sailing) and it wasn't quite what I expected. It is definitely a livelier environment than I imagined it would be. If you are seeking a quiet, tranquil spa experience I suggest you peek in/ take a look at different times before purchasing the Spa Pass for the entire cruise.

We are sailing this June on this fabulous ship...and I'll be checking out what the Spa has to offer.

I'd be interested in what you find out, do you think a weekly pass or just a few days ? As i like the pool, but the looks I've seen are terribly crowded , and i can get around well on scooter with finding chair and than into pool, do its a question for me :)

  10. AKA : Chris & Meg,,

Fantastic review, love reading and seeing all your updates, would love to see the island of st Thomas, however, am handicap use a scooter all the time, so looking for something.. OMG , love the shrimp scampi dish you had Meg, looked Yummy

Chris, your review has made me look so forward to this cruise, was not crazy at all about the pool, vs the vibe area,, however really want the spa area pkg, so maybe between that and my deck and that area you mentioned, good enough. I understand when you are in wheelchair , they wheel u to a waiting area until room ready, so don't see how will make to headliners to get pass anyway :). Oh well..

Look forward to any future writings.. Thanks Again

  11. Great suggestions, thanks for the tips. Will definitely go to the Brat Pack based on your suggestions. Going to check in for the cruise and start to make reservations. I'll want to get us a week pass for the thermal spa, I've done that before. I'll pass on Tempayaki, I didn't think the food was that great for the money. I love Cagney's and anything on the Waterfront, it's so nice, even during the day to sit out there and enjoy the water view (in the shade with quiet vs. the pool area which is total chaos, but some like that). Cookie - we will be doing a charter in St. Thomas - we've done that before and it's the best way to spend a day for sure!

What are you doing in St Thomas,, is it handicap access by a scooter/wheelchair ?

  12. thanks , so what was good in st thomas, what excursion. I am handicap use a scooter/wheelchair, just am looking forward to look around.. I haven't been on a cruise in like 25 years, we are doing the escape in Dec. Anything you feel might be nice to do, its our 30th anniversary trip.. I know nothing about things i should make sure i do before hand,, any help , i would really appreciate.. thanks

  13. i have mulitple scerosis, and really heat , makes my muscles weak, however, the thalossophy pool looks and the fact loungers, i won't do the heated ones, but my husband would enjoy, the fact its quiet , is also a plus,, I don't really know anything about the Escape, so any info i would appreciate it, thank you
