Sheila the Koningsdam was a beautiful ship, but I still love the Noordam. We found the Neptune Suites beautifully done, but they were smaller, and the veranda was definitely smaller. The food options were plentiful, but I feel that all the different restaurants took that space away from other venues, like entertainment and relaxing. I did like that the life boat drill was held inside, but I found out that is because the promenade deck doesn't go completely around. The service was outstanding, the people very friendly, but I will take my Noordam any day.

I know it has been a few years, but there are no excursions in Tracy Arm because it is cruising the area only on your way to the glacier.

I would think that the itinerary would play the biggest part of the cruise with children. I know that the Alaskan cruises are always very popular.

Sail my nephews have booked me on a cruise in May of next year to Alaska with them on our favorite ship the Noordam. A friend wants me to join her on an Hawaiian cruise in December. She says the first Christmas is the hardest. I haven't made up my mind on that one yet.

You will be well taken care of in the Pinnacle Suite. You will have a large suite that is perfect to entertain or just have room service from any of the restaurants. If tradition holds, you will be escorted onboard. We have stayed in the Pinnacle Suite many times, as we usually travel with family and friends. They will be there to help you with any excursions, reservations and any other requests.

I don't think that any cruise ships will be making stops at heavily damaged islands. It isn't in the interest of the ports, and I'm sure the cruise line wants the passengers to have a good time. I know on San Juan, while many of the old buildings may be standing in the tourist areas, El Yunge the rainforest may never be the same again in our lifetime.

When I was on the Koningsdam in March with friends and family, we loved Sel de Mer. We ate there four times. The service was outstanding, and the chef even fixed a french style of coffee for my nephew.

Thank you everyone for your warm welcome and your condolences. I miss Jim very much.

Having friends with family on Puerto Rico, it may not be a suitable port even in 2018. From what I have seen and heard, the island may still need major repairs. I think that everyone, even the island people themselves are still in a wait and see mode. As of today, only a small fraction of the island has electricity.

I just wanted to thank you for being as warm and welcoming to me now as you were before I took an absence. My husband had a stroke three years ago, and he just passed in April, so I have not been here much. But thank you for making me feel like I never left.

Hi Lakemurraykid. We are on the Noordam in early May. Yes the Neptune Suite perks are still in place. They had a very good turn around on the Koningsdam, same day, but that may not apply to all ships. They also, at least on the Koningsdam had an honor a bar open in the Neptune in the late afternoon before dinner seatings. We sailed to Hawaii on Princess, but I like the suite size better on HAL. I'm sure that whichever cruise you choose, you will have a wonderful time.

My nephews used the service in March of this year and were very happy with the fit and the ease of the transaction.

I am scheduled to sail on the Noordam in May of next year to Alaska, and I believe that they were listed as entertainment. We enjoyed them on the Koningsdam.
-
We have sailed with many different cruise lines for over 33 years, and we prefer to sail HAL. I like the smaller ships, the cabins, and the service and friendliness of the crew.

They also offer Gluten free pancakes and rolls in the dining room. Just ask your waiter what can be provided.
-
Yes the menu items are free, but they charge for the speciality drinks and such. They have wonderful desserts there as well, perfect for a bite after a shore excursion or for lunch.
-
Yes they will provide Gluten free pasta in Canaletto.
-
Ok so you made me laugh really hard.

I'm really enjoying your posts. It brings back wonderful memories of my favorite ship the Noordam.

Lady Jane, I think that you will enjoy the ship. Enjoy your cruise and come back and tell us what you thought.

it all depends on when you go in March. March is typically Spring Break time for a lot of schools, so there may be more young people and children on board. I was on the Koningsdam in Mach of this year, and there seemed to be people of all ages onboard.

Tamarind is not open for lunch. I'm not sure about the lamb burgers.
-
The Mimosas are only served with room service in the Neptune and Pinnacle suites for breakfast. If you want one in the Pinnacle Grill for breakfast, you will be charged.

If you have any allergies, they will note that on the selections that you choose. Service has always been perfect and the food excellent.

I'm sure that you will enjoy your cruise and the Pinnacle Suite. We also found the extra bathroom came in very handy, as did the larger fridge. You will also find all the extra towels that you will need in your bathroom, and if you need more than provided, just ask. We have always found the suite very comfortable. I'm not sure about your ship, but on the Noordam, my husband enjoyed the recliner in the living room.
