  1. We are upset with the way PCL has handled the "Upgrades". We are on the 28 day Med and TA cruise which sails on 14 November from Rome. We have been waiting for an E-Mail to offer us the chance to upgrade at a price. A friend also on this sailing, informed us that they received an offer on 19 October. We have received none. We are also booked in a B2 Balcony. We have heard nothing from PCL. This is not our first cruise (over 30) and we qualified and opted into receiving offers. Not saying we would have bid, but would have liked the offer to bid. Disappointed

  2. This might be jumping the gun a bit but I will ask anyway. We are going on a cruise from Rome that ends up in Ft Lauderdale. The Island Princess departs Civitavecchia on Monday, 14 November. Our EZ Air flight leaves our home airport (Las Vegas) at 11:55 AM on 11 November and arrives in FCO (Rome) on 12 November at 10:35 AM. We are fully vaccinated and have had 2 boosters and will probably have the 3rd by then.

Current Princess policy requires us to be tested and have Negative results no more than 3 days prior to boarding. By my calculation this would have to be no earlier than 12 November. Checking on testing places in Rome, I see that they close at noon on Saturday. We only arrive at 10:35 and by the time we get our bags and clear customs it will be too late to test.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

By the way we purchased the EZ Air in February and the price has increased by about $1100 per person for this flight.

At least on the Grand Princess there were 1 or 2 dishes served in the MDR that were not on the menu. These dishes were prepared by the head waiter. I do not know if this is still happening after the restart of cruising.

We were on the Grand Princess on a 15 day Hawaii cruise which ended on 28 February. We were in a suite and therefore were eating every night in CC. The menu was the same as the MDR with 1 additional item. Sometimes a main item and sometimes a entrée. the "special" item was cooked in the galley and not by the head waiter. The main advantage was that we could show up when we wanted to and rarely had to wait more than 13 min. to be seated.

  4. I finally was able to book our flight. Called the 1-800-774-6237 number and was on hold for only 55 min. Agent immediately transferred me to the EZ Air section where I was on hold for an additional 40 min. EZ Air agent asked for booking number and which flight I was trying to book and placed me on hold again for 13 min. She came back on line and told me that I  now had flights from LAS to FCO on the dates and flights we requested. Now I am a Happy Flier!!!! It only took 12 days to book flight.

  5. I have been trying to book a premium economy flight from Las Vegas to Rome for 4 days. I put in all the required information and check all the boxes before getting to select seats. When I hit "Book" it appears like the system is attempting to process the request but then the "Error" message appears which tells me to try again later or call 1-800-774-6237.

Twice I have called the number given and after spending 57 min. one time and 1 hr and 45 min. another on hold was able to speak with a rep. The first rep asked me to verify my information and then placed the same information in her computer as I had done previously. The results were the same, "Error" message.

Second time after I got through and waited on hold I was transferred to the "travel expert" where I waited another 50 min. on hold. Again, we verified all the data (Name, Birthday, address etc. )and it was determined that my phone number was incorrect (that number was disconnected 2 1/2 years ago) but the person was unable to change it. The "Travel Expert" also put the information into the computer but when it was time to "Book" she also received the "Error" message.

The "Travel Expert's" advice was to try again in a few days. Like some of the previous posters the flight that I am trying to book said there were 3 seats left at that price. I am frustrated that no one can figure out what is going on and why I can not book a flight.

  6. We are booked on the Trans Atlantic Cruise from Rome to Ft. Lauderdale on the Island Princess sailing on 14 November 2022. Princess sent us an e-mail advising us that we could book flights as of 1/17. Yesterday I researched the flights and selected a Premium Economy flight from Las Vegas to Rome. After filling out the information I attempted to book. The site spun for about 30 seconds and then I received an error message stating that "We are unable to process your request. Please try again later or call us at the number listed on the page for assistance", and gave the normal Princess phone number. Tried again a few times and received the same message. Gave up and went to bed.

This morning the same thing happened so I called the number as directed. Was on hold only about 32 min. before speaking with an agent. She tried to book the flight but she also received the same message. The page that shows the flight says there are 3 seats left at that price and has said this since yesterday. Is anyone else having a problem and what did you do to solve it??

  7. We are booked on a 15 day cruise to Hawaii on the Grand in a window suite. Our son just moved to Hawaii and we were going to bring a house warming gift with us on our cruise. He now lives in Hilo which is one of our ports. The item weighs 33 lbs and the box is 28" x 28" x 7".

Does anyone see any issues with taking this with us? Of course there is always the possibility that the cruise will be canceled by Covid or its variants. I would ask Princess but am unable to find any contact number or address except 1-800-774-6237.

  8. If flying into LAX or Long Beach airport we get the best prices 2 weeks and earlier also more choice in available flights. If you book an earlier flight and receive a later boarding time do you wait in the auto parking lot or at the airport terminal. It would make sense for PCL to establish a set number of days prior to the cruise (say 21) for people with priority boarding to get their boarding groups and another set date (say 18) for all others. Just my not so humble opinion.😜

  9. Pacific Princess was our favorite ship in the Princess fleet. We only sailed on her for 2 cruises but both bring back fond memories. The first cruise was the 50th anniversary cruise R/T from LA which hit the Mexican Rivera. Was wonderful having the Love Boat cast on board and so many other fabulous friends. Our last cruise was a cruise from Venice to Rome in one of the rear suites. Again so many friends made and such a great time. We will miss her immensely.

As a virologist recently stated, its not the vaccine, its the vaccinations.  In Europe and the US there are a large number of anti-vaxxers who will not participate.  Without them "we" are unlikely to achieve "herd immunity."  Additionally, the virus is mutating (again) making it lighter and easier to transmit.

First of all, if a vaccine is developed and proves effective then cruise lines will (Should) require customers and crew to provide certification that they have received the vaccine before being allowed to board for a cruise. It would be a higher effective rate and do more to control the virus than mandating that cruisers obtain a "letter" from a doctor saying they are "fit to sail".

Secondly, can you provide the scientific source that proves that the virus is mutating? Could it be that the morons that have the virus are not taking precautions such as social distancing and wearing face masks? Could those people with a ***** attitude be the reason for the spike in number of positive cases? I do believe that with more testing there will be a higher positive rate but until there is a vaccine that is proved effective the best bet is social distancing and personal protective equipment.

Hope everyone stays healthy and we hope to see you onboard.

  11. Thrax,

I just went on the Princess web site and looked at the sailing for "14 day Morocco Passage" on 6 Dec, 2021. Click on "Stateroom selection" and choose "Interior" it will give you 3 choices, one being "Balcony Obstructed". Follow it to deck 8 and there it is. They are listed at about $200 more PP than the Premium Ocean View cabins
