You are correct now that I look at it, wasn't that way last year, but I don't have time to do multiple week plus cruises, so I us Tampa as a quick getaway to places I have been to a bunch of times. I use othere ports to go to new places I an't get to from Tampa. I love the ability to have quick getaways though here and I love the smaller typoe ships that sail from here!

I live in Tampa, all the cruises out of the local port are 4 or 5 night cruises nd I go on a number for quick getaways. I have rarely experienced what you are saying, although I don't go during spring break tim or other party times. When I want to go on a longer cruise I go to PC of FLL or Miami. I do enjoy the quick getaways and it's really a matter of timing and not being so easily offended by people.... too many here are stick in the muds/holier than thou's and don't remember when they were younger.

Food can suck. SUBJECTIVE, I HAVE HAD MOSTLY GOOD BUT A FEW BAD MEALS. Service can suck. SUBJECTIVE, ONLY 1 TIME HAVE I HAD A COMPLAINT AND THAT WAS A ROOM ATTENDANT. THE REST OF THE SERVICE IN ALL ASPECTS HAS BEEN GREAT FOR US. Royal can price gauge pretty bad whilst also delivering terrible experiences and poor value. FAIR POINT BUT STILL SOMEWHAT SUBJECTIVE, ALL TRAVEL HAS GOTTEN MORE EXPENSIVE. I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED MUCH DROP OFF IN OVERALL EXPERIENCE TO THI POINT THOUGH WITH RCL. Some staff SUCK. SUBJECTIVE, ONLY 1 TIME HAVE I HAD A COMPLAINT AND THAT WAS A ROOM ATTENDANT. Some ships suck. (old, tatty rooms, dirty) FAIR, BUT THAT IS GLASS HALF EMPTY VIEW POINT AS ALL SHIPS HAVE THEIR GOOD POINTS AND BAD POINTS Some itineraries suck DON'T BOOK CRAPPY ITINERARIES, THAT'S ON THE PERSON BOOKING How royal deals with some things suck. NEVER HAD AN ISSUE SO CAN'T SPEAK TO THIS. Singers can REALLY suck and dont get me started on some of the comedians. SUBJECTIVE, BY LARGE I HAVE ENJOYED THE VAST MAJORITY OF ENTERTAINMENT INCLUDING THE SINGERS, BUT THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW DUDS. Even the headline acts can suck. SUBJECTIVE, BUT I DON'T GO TO THE MAIN SHOWS VERY OFTEN.

It's spring break, that is it.... unless you go to those party areas, it will be perfectly safe and even those party areas are too unless you want to puff your chest out....

Explorer of the Seas - dry dock 2023

I'd rather have more entertianmnet venues.... don't care that much about the food venues, but that's just me. I do like to hear about upgraded staeroom carpet and such though, -
I don't see the issue, as there are other venues to dine onboard. As I said, I don't cruise for the food, if you do then I guess you may be dissappointed if you can't learn to alter your palette or prefernces. There is plenty on the menus that look very good. First world problems I suppose for some.

Have you ever run a business???? It's not trying to stick it to customers, it's about making the margins. Inflation is out of control in the entire world. What do you expect a business to do? I know we have raised our prices over the past couple of years due to material costs and labot costs and shortages, as well as our lead time suffering due to labor shortage.

Then just order different things that second night. Or, there are other options to eat at, go there and get something different. I welcome the changes, so many years of the exact same menus gets old, I like the variety of ethnic dishes they have introduced. I am looking forward to our April cruise to taste the new menu! With that said, I don't cruise for a menu, so it's not a huge deal to me other than something different, which if I wanted I could find elsewhere on the ship.

Intrusive Staff in Main Dining Room

From my experiences it is not the case. I take the effort to talk and get to know my wait staff, bartenders, entertainers, etc..... I find that a huge interesting part of a cruise. Don't let the OP and the other fuddy duddies scare you away with tall tales. -

Every cruise I have been on I knew who the head waiter was and seek him out to tip him. -

Exactly.... never seen that be the case, usually when exagerating, the people doing that were true AHs to their servers/bartenders/attendants, etc..... -

Unfortunately not everyone views it this way, which is sad. I tip in cash to my wait staff, steward and bartenders on top of my prepaid tips. Crazy what people want to complain about. -

If you have been on 50+ cruises you would know who the man in "the suit" was.... good lord. Go to a bar to converse, get to know the staff for godsake...... this is beyond entitlement, to put them in their place the last day is crazy, let alone any day.... wow! -

Too many people here are high stress.... a 1 or 2 minute conversation with a worker shouldn't be below you. The entitlement of some boggles my mind. -

Pulling him aside the last night to say that is a slap in the face and is basically saying you've annoyed us enough. Very poor etiquette IMO.- 159 replies

Exactly.... this is simply a horty torty thing from the OP.... I have been on many cruises and talked to the waiters, it was never more than a minute or two at a time and I actually njoyed talking to them. This attitude is just crazy, I like to get to know my waiters and bartenders, as I like learning about other cultures. Quite sad some don't treat them as human beings. -

Your reaction seems a little bitchy and insensitive to the wait staff to me. They take a few seconds to do that, jezz. We love getting to know our wait staff, even when we are cruising with other couples. This to me seems a bit prima donna-esqe on your part. They are making sure you are taken care of...... -
We easily get our moneys worth! Well worth the price even if we break even, as I know I won't owe anything coming off the cruise, as I have heard horror stories.

Icon of the Seas Blocks Are In The House!

If you open the window though the entire room is filled with hot humid air, as opposed to a standard balcany with a sliding door. I don't know that I would be a fan of that. -
To me, that's smart business.... cater to what makes the true money, unfortunatley that isn't catering the the crumudgeons.

Do you not take into account the value of the dollar and inflation? It's equal to pretty much what we paid 15-18 years ago given that. lol
