  1. Leave your phone in airplane mode when on board. You do not want your phone using your carrier’s data plan. Roaming rates on cruise ships are very expensive. As others have noted, you can use the Celebrity app on WiFi for free. It wouldn’t even connect if using your cellular plan.
  2. That may have been true in the past but apparently not true now. I’ve seen YouTube videos where it shows logging in to emed.com using Navica credentials but the the emed website no longer says anything about Navica. It specifically says you need an emed account now and will not accept Navica account credentials. I have both a Navica and emed account, the emed website does not accept my Navica credentials.
  3. The Navica app is not required. You can also complete the test using a browser and going directly to the emed web page: https://www.emed.com
  4. You don’t get any compensation for flights unless you used Flights By Celebrity, at least not that I’ve ever heard of. If you booked on your own, it’s between you and the airline.
  5. We cruised out LA for the first time a few months ago and had no issues. We used Uber/Lyft for transportation to and from the port. We arrived a day early and stayed at a hotel within walking distance of the port, though they offered a shuttle to the port. I would have no issue with sailing out of LA again.
  6. I’m 12 days out and I don’t have edocs or luggage tags either. I called Celebrity on Friday and the agent wasn’t able to help. As others have said, you don’t really need them, they’ll tag your luggage at the port.
  7. When you launch the test on emed, it first asks your state of residence. Is it wanting to know where you are taking the test? When I’m in the UK taking the test to fly home, do I still answer with my US state?
  8. You should also set up an account with EMed. The Navica account credentials are separate.
  9. The Navica app is not required. I have seen multiple posts from people who did the test entirely through emed via their browser with results sent by email. My understanding is the Navica app is only used for storing the digital results.
  10. I do not know personally but all the other threads I’ve seen with a similar question say surf is not adequate for the proctored test. We plan to do our tests the morning we arrive using cellular rather than the ship’s WiFi.
  11. Many people, myself included, would say that’s a bad idea. We now always arrive a day ahead of the cruise. Regardless of Flights by Celebrity’s pledge to help you make it on time, that simply may not be possible if something does go wrong.
  12. I’ve never had to get FBC to do seat assignments. Once you have your airline record indicator, you can select seats directly with the airline. That’s what I’ve always done.
