  1. We are sailing Liberty for the first time in January 2018 and are in cabin 1340 as well. We were in the same cabin on Liberty's sister ship - Freedom of the Seas in January 2016. The only difference will be the Suite Lounge on the Liberty. The Freedom still had the Concierge Lounge which was right outside our room but always full with Diamond members since there was no dedicated Diamond Lounge. We are looking forward to the Suite Lounge.

  2. Hi All,

I have requested a certain type of table and received confirmation from RCCL Dining that my request was granted (and I know the table #). I have seen other posts that when people have requested they also received a map of the dining room. I didn't get that with my confirmation.

Could anyone send/attach a map of the Freedom of the Seas Dining Room map?

    Thanks!!

  3. Bluepper - that is the beauty of options. I like dressing up, my DH likes to ONE night so we can get a nice family portrait (the kiddos have no choice...I pack for them). He is one who absolutely doesn't like to be told he HAS to do something. I bet if formal nights were removed, it wouldn't change our packing choices at all BUT psychologically he will feel in control of his dressing choices and therefore much happier. :)

  4. I am sorry, but please cc members, stop making assumptions about the way people dress and their supposed "simple life", "simple expectations", and low class. We are a family in the upper socioeconomic level, enjoy great food and pampering, BUT also are on vacation to relax and not stress over clothing choices - and REALLY not interested in dissecting what other people are wearing.

If we wanted to go on a vacation where we wanted everyone to know our income level...or wanted everyone to THINK we are a certain income level, we certainly would not be cruising on Royal Caribbean. We do so because we enjoy the ships, the flexibility, and the relaxed atmosphere.

I really wish some on here would get off their high horses and worry about themselves and not others. The CC board was always a fun place to go to get excited about cruising and plan upcoming cruises. Unfortunately threads like this sour that a bit.

I know I have a choice to read certain posts and not others. I subscribed to this thread because I was excited about the fact that formal night might be removed from RCCL and I wanted to see what is up. I will wait for formal news from RCCL and not be frustrated further.

    Happy cruising.

  5. I hope they do away with it. I could care less if people come to the dining room in their pjs, but it will be wonderful to not hear my DH complain about wearing a suit two nights. It won't prevent people from dressing up if they want to, but will make those happy who don't like the suit and tie.

  6. My husband always challenges our family to an ice cream cone contest...last time on Carnival Freedom he set the number to 100 cones - they made it to 108. The machines were 24/7.

He upped the challenge this time on Freedom of the Seas but with only one machine and limited hours, he may need to rethink his 150  cones.

  7. Hi All,

We are sailing this winter on Freedom of the Seas and want to reserve a cabana on Coco Cay. We are sailing in an owner's suite. On RCCL's website it says you have to book on board, but I have heard that others have reserved before sailing.

How do we contact the ship's concierge to try and get one reserved? I know they are supposed to contact the suite guests prior to sailing but I don't know how far in advance they do so.

    TIA!

  8. We are in OS 1340 on our January cruise - very excited to be in the center of the hump. I am looking forward to views to the front and back of the ship.

From my research (and I research A LOT), the Freedom of the Seas seems to be a favorite ship of many. We love to have fewer ports, but some of our favorites. We have not made it to Coco Cay yet (didn't make it on previous cruises due to rough water and not able to tender in). I am hoping we make it this time!

  9. I actually do not think it would be that difficult to add to other ships. The added cost of the cabin certainly pays for one extra crew member specifically assigned to the RS as a butler (if it would only apply to the top tier).

There is no reason why they could not section off an area of the dining room for tables for suite guests only. Adding free laundry service, free wifi, and free beverage package doesn't seem like any issue at all - especially with the limited number of cabins at the suite level on other ships. The reality is that all who even get the benefit may not use it. We travel in suites and not once have I ever used their laundry service - even the one free pressing for formal night. We rarely even use the concierge lounge. We are not big drinkers with the exception of a frozen drink once or twice on a seven day cruise so the unlimited drink package would be wasted on us.

I am surprised the new suite perks would in any way need to be exclusive to just two classes of ships. In any event, we book suites for the extra "real estate" alone and any perks we get are above and beyond. We are in an OS on our next cruise on FOS and I am just thankful that we are able to cruise - perks aside.
