  2. Welcome aboard - I grew up in Montreal!!! - now living in Ottawa - hope to see you onboard! 🙂
  3. I am wondering if you just put 'one' cruiser in the search engine that it might populate with solo traveller cabins? I believe there are only around 16 of them on only some ships. https://cruise.blog/2021/03/6-cruise-lines-single-cruise-cabins
  4. Thanks for the info - so okay to go into the water with!
  5. So are the medallions waterproof? What if you are in the pool/ocean/hot tub? Or do you have to leave them 'out' somewhere? Also looking at various options - and I see some waterproof wristbands, like watches, to pop them in - but if not waterproof guess there is not point to getting these?
  6. Excellent - thanks for this info (and just checked hubby's card and it expires nov 2024 - so he is due this November to renew!!!).
  7. You may wish to sign up/follow this thread where cruisers are posting info on solo cruise 'bargains'!
  8. After reading this I ran to check the expiry date of my NEXUS card LOL - seems it is expiring in April 2025 - so should I wait a bit to renew it? (e.g. in the summer/fall?) - I am travelling in May/June - so maybe after that? (and trying to remember if I used my cell phone number or if I even had one when I originally signed up! 🤪 ) Thanks for all the great info above!
  9. There will probably be 3 'elegant nights' for this cruise.....
  10. Just wanted to clarify - is the group only for singles? or also for solos? Two different things but I know many use them interchangeably? All singles may be going solo - but not all solos are single! LOL 🙂
  11. Hi Loretta!!!! Sorry you missed the Celebration TA but thrilled you will be sailing on the Venezia with the 'rest' of us - so looking forward to seeing you again and catching up! 😍
  12. ...and I was wrong! Looks like the steakhouse (among other usual Carnival eateries will be onboard this ship) - from a posting by John Heald: Eat, Drink and Enjoy the Flavors of Italy Guests will find signature Carnival restaurants and bars on board Carnival Venezia, including the steakhouse Fahrenheit 555, Bonsai Sushi & Teppanyaki and the Chef’s Table, along with Lido Marketplace, Seafood Shack and Pizzeria del Capitano, Piano Bar 88 and Heroes Tribute Lounge. In addition, many Carnival mainstays will offer special Italian menu items on board – for example, gelato will join the popular coffee and snack options at Java Blue Café. Guests will also find delightful beverage and food offerings throughout the ship at several new or updated restaurant and bar concepts, including: Dining Venues Guy’s Burger Joint – Italian flavors and ingredients add new flavors to Guy Fieri’s famous burgers. Along with classic American burgers and fries, new menu items will feature an Italian twist, such as a pepperoni pizza burger and the Big Mozz – a burger smothered in melted mozzarella cheese. La Strada Grill – Taste the best grilled Italian street food and sandwiches. Tomodoro – Mexitalian fusion creations feature ingredients such as Italian meatballs and Sicilian chicken alongside traditional Mexican tacos and burritos, for breakfast and lunch. Canal Grande and Marco Polo Restaurants – Both restaurants feature delicious three-course meals in spaces surrounded by elegant Italian sculptures and architectural designs, including a real-life Venetian gondola in one of them. Special Italian dishes will be featured, including favorites from Carnival’s signature Cucina del Capitano Italian restaurant. New Specialty Italian Restaurant – In addition to the Italian dishes offered in the main dining rooms, an all-new dining concept is being created and more details will be shared soon.
  13. Saw the video and happy to hear about the fridges and USB additions to the cabins. Th Terrazza outdoor area looks lovely but like Havana only accessible to the masses in the evening. It seems there is no steakhouse so assume that the 'soon to be announced' Italian Specialty Restaurant will be the replacement? And so waiting to make specialty dining reservation I guess? (hoping they still off that free bottle of wine on the first night LOL).
  14. Well that is not good news? I am wondering if they will add them during the retrofit? I found this youtube video of a balcony cabin on the Venezia and definitely no fridge, but that space/door at the vanity which has 2 shelves could possibly fit the small fridge? Guess we have to wait and see during the 'reveal'? LOL
  15. I personally always choose a port side cabin when doing a westbound transatlantic -lots of sun as balcony is facing south and beautiful sunsets in the evening! But as well I am pickly about location so always check out what is above and below me to avoid any noisy areas/public venues.
  16. Also hi to Nancy, Mary and Julie and I remember you too Karen!!! Super excited for another transatlantic from Barcelona to some of my favorite ports on a 'new' ship! 🙂
  17. Is this you Josette? Please say yes! Also booked on this cruise!!!!
  18. Thanks for the info - I will sign up in a couple of weeks. AS for coming home - sounds lucky but still a slow way to get jet lag....each night on a crossing they add an hour - so yes it is great to get an extra hour every night - theoretically, but your body can't catch up that fast - so you are no longer hungry at 'dinner time' - but wake up at 4 am looking for something to eat! ...and that happens each day - so you do have to somehow 'manage that (and keep some snacks in your cabin for those 'emergencies'?) LOL
  19. Wow - thanks for the 'endorsement' - will definitely be trying it out - I am flying out in a month - so when should I sign up/start? I figure just a couple of weeks? Cruising back to Miami so won't be using it on the return - but so glad it worked for you! 🙂
  20. I believe 2346 is below the galley (2349 is on the other side and seems to be under the dining room) - you may have early morning galley noise and might want to switch if you are a light sleeper?
  21. Coves are my preferred type of cabin!! I cruise to see the ocean - and this is as close as you can get! Private and protected - love going out early morning and late at night to see the waves and yes I have seen marine life. But as mentioned do see what is above/below you (which I would do anyway no matter where my cabin was).
  22. My eye mask is 'adjustable' with velcro so you can customize the fit - and it's the kind that does not 'press' against your eyelids - I hate those kind!
  23. How can you even breathe in that thing? LOLOL. Would rather wear and eye mask perhaps?
  24. Thanks so much - excellent information - looks good - assuming I have that second boarding pass - not sure why I would not? Now let's hope no issues on 2nd flight with my carryon but assume it should be okay - and I don't need to dump my water bottle!!!!!!! LOLOL
  25. Hoping some recent/frequent travellers can answer some questions I have about my upcoming international flight? Connecting from Ottawa in Montreal to an overnight AC international flight to London. I will have one checked bag (which I presume is checked through to London) and a rolling carryon and personal item/tote. Can someone confirm that once I have landed in Montreal I will not have to 'exit' the secure area and can make my way to international connections directly? (no security/customs/etc? - no dumping of water bottle? LOL). Or will I have to go through another security check with just my carryon luggage? Also if I was able to board with my carryon/tote bag in Ottawa is there any reason I would not be allowed to board with it on my next flight? (it will be of 'regulation' size as per AC's carryon rules). I obviously don't want to gate check anything (already freaked out about losing my luggage - yes I have an airtag! 🙂 ) and it's a very big plane so assume there would be space in the overhead bin for the roller (and tote goes under the seat in front of me). Will they be checking my carryon again when I am in Montreal ready to board the London flight? (I am hoping it would be 'verified' in Ottawa and that 'white tag' would be attached making it 'legal' to bring onboard?) Hearing about some new automatic sizers or something and people being made to check luggage? (and how do you even do that if you are not at a check in counter but at security?) Trying to prepare myself and stay as stress free as possible! Any details greatly appreciated! Thanks!
